  1. Just seems normal that the referee gets his coin brought before the match...

    1. Why VAR Guzman didn’t correct wrong GK decision here ? Sorry but that’s definitively a mess concerning VAR use !

    2. 74 matches in and you're asking why VAR didn't turn a GK into a CK?

    3. Because VAR is only allowed to change a corner into a goal kick

    4. It was a correctly awarded goal kick

    5. Was ironic…but not clear i guess lol. Just to say VAR use is completely disbalanced by the last procedure evolution.

  3. Jayed not convincing again, taking a while to spot head injury. Paraguay might make this tough for him…

    1. I actually liked this. The player could easily rolled off pitch to avoid the 1 minute

    2. If Paraguay can keep this tied into the 2nd half it will get challenging.

    3. I was a bit surprised PAR#4 had to wait a minute before being allowed to enter again. I was under the impression that the ‘1-minute off’ ruling does not apply if it concerns a head injury (as we’ ve seen earlier in the tournament).

    4. That depends on the severity of the injury. Only a serious injury allowed to stay on the field. Not just whether it's a head injury

    5. The 1 minute law applies whenever the referee requires that they leave the field of play.

    6. I think he made a good call, a really good marker to lay down that he won’t tolerate play acting. For me, this is part of the pre-match analysis where they have identified that this is what this team do & early on making it clear that not only will he not fall for it. Not only that, he will make them leave the field if the game stops.

Yes, there was contact but he embellished the contact looking for the free kick or card. They now know, he won’t tolerate it and for the rest of the card, you’ll see they tried to buy a few free kicks but no more of the behaviour.

  4. Very good no foul call at 29’ with convincing body language, well done!

    1. Dealing with paraguayan gamesmanship alone will be nearly impossible.

  8. Correct first YC. It seems match is heating up a bit.

  9. 1st YC for PAR. Clear one. But I would have prefered the one against GER for SPA a few minutes earlier

  10. Why did he stop now Germany's attack?

    For alleged GK infringment?

Then where is YC for Gomez?

    1. Yes I think he saw the foul of PAR attacker and little push from Neuer after do he decided to stop the game.

    2. I think for that, but that's only ever a FK. But yes, 100% advantage should have been played. And it would have been so much better if he raised his hand in apology, and apologized or had a humble smile with the players. Just looking away completely ignoring it wasn't a great look

  12. In any case, this is his last match in this tournament. It was a poor performance, and I did not like his behavior toward the players.
In the end, referees from the African Confederation are not suitable for managing matches because they end up ruining them.

    1. Behavior ? What behavior ? He seems to be silent and have the management and communication of… a ghost referee, with no charisma whatsoever and absolutely no personality or leadership qualities…
