    3. King and Madley were excellent

    4. Madley was good, indeed. Players behaved well in general, though. Several rightly rejected penalty appeals. A pity the overall image was tarnished a little bit by a total blackout in 21' - missed offensive foul, missed blatant undermining and astonishing no YC for reckless/SPA tackle to 20MUN. Some other challenges perhaps deserved to be cautioned but he decided to stay in the background, what is surely something expected in England ('s FA Cup final).

  2. And AFC still.. didn't change the headline, another very weak referee, Tantashev on the "real" final (2nd leg) and made another controversies with VAR intervention and last but not least Fu Ming as VAR and Sivakorn Pu Udom as AVAR. Here we go again, AFC really in crisis for very trusted VAR, you name it Shaun Evans, Sivakorn, Fu Ming, Al Marri, Taqi Al Jaafari, totally no hope for Asia. I just wondering, Tantashev to be honest not really that bad but when you have VAR from another country the consistency, the level of interpretation it's totally different and IMO maybe it was one of main factors why VAR in AFC was really poor.

    1. I rarely seen AFC referees firmly "reject" on the monitor and stick with their on field decision for doubtful call from VAR, even the almighty Faghani.

  3. Second YC by Dankert in German Cup final, the only player who got two yellow cards so far in first half (don't know about the first card, but maynbe this one could have been even a straight RC?):

    1. First card was clear SPA.
And yes, this one was borderline to Red, but I think, YC supportable, because ball was played first and the intensity wasn't very high.
BTW, new adidas kit on display.

  4. Wow,what happened in Greece?

    Frappart was in charge.

3 red cards, plenty yellows and lots of controversies.

    1. And crucial goal in 90'+7 WOW, it must be watched!

    2. Technically all 3 RC's were correct. But Frappart lost it a bit on foul detection (too inconsistent) and players became too agitated. Then she tried to keep the match by issuing YC's. Unfortunately, she couldn't.

    1. 3 good decisions all made in real time. Whilst criticism of game management may be merited it's important to acknowledge KMIs being correctly dealt with

    2. "Correctly dealt with."

The bar is so low that it's hard to even find it.

51' is, I suppose, fine. It's not a stamp on the foot but it's a pretty strong kick and I can see the SPA arguments given the attacker is ready to flick the ball on with his right foot. I can accept the 2CT here, but we must not kid ourselves. Even without any context, it looks and feels like a soft 2CT, particularly for a cup final. The opposing team immediately pressuring her only helps give that feel.

65'... I don't even know what to say. First, she doesn't have it in real time. She's not going to card him. Even if you think the end result is correct, to argue this is "correctly dealt with" and "a good decision made in real time" is not supported by the evidence. Also, I'm sorry, but that's not a good card. The green player is flailing around on the ground and gets his leg in the way, where studs end up catching him. I hate this new idea that all studs are cards. It's robotic refereeing. What misconduct did the yellow player commit? A player, on the floor, throws his leg around (we used to consider this PIADM--and often still do) and the opponent gets sent off because players crowd the referee and pressure her. If you think this is good and correct, then we have a very different opinion of what those words mean.

71' is an accurate VC card. But the management is poor. And the entire scene gives off the sense that the match was not managed well to that point.

    3. I'm not sure why you're getting so worked up about "correctly dealt with". Making correctly decisions is not a low bar. Getting 3 KMIs correct is not "a low bar".

The second incident is perhaps slightly softer but there is a follow-through onto the leg of the yellow

    4. It's an extraordinarily low bar.

  7. Women are really funny at men's matches, as Ms. Fraparte confirms game after game.
