It's a very particular story between the Spanish FIFA referee from Canary Islands and the 2026 World Cup, but no matters, when the game starts, it's all about the performance.

Big game for him after all the talks about his situation and spain referees potentially missing initially this World Cup.
ReplyDeleteCorrect YC on 4' for reckless challenge. Good start from Hdz Hdz
ReplyDeletemaybe missed YC on the prior action ? correct call on this challenge
DeleteNo, happy for that one to let go but it was a good indication of what was coming next
DeleteAgree with the card at 4’. Good start.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting his positioning for the corner at 5min. Clearly studied the Brazil corner and stayed in the first wood zone.
ReplyDeleteVery well !
More fouls whistled by Hernandez on 8 mn than Tantashev all over the match ! 😂
ReplyDeleteGood offside decision by Sanchez Rojo. Well done.
ReplyDeleteLooked like a clear foul by Brazil on 1-0. Clear studs on the foot of the Haiti player who was first on the ball. Based on the replay.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Don’t understand why VAR stayed silent here
DeleteI saw it also. Maybe no foul because contact was after defender already played the ball and it would have been goal without contact.
DeleteBig miss by Del Cerro Grande. Obvious late challenge by Brazil.
DeleteSaw it again. Extremely blatant foul and missed yellow card.
DeleteAgree with VG. And again Del Cerro Grande…
DeleteVAR must have stayed silent because he has had a clear view of the incident and Grande viewed it as no foul
DeleteIMO foul missed on Haïti defensor prior goal.
ReplyDeleteFoul in first goal of Brasilia very late and step on the foot before the ball cross the line
ReplyDeleteSorry but I think this should have been a foul, clear as day that Cunha hits him.
ReplyDeleteAnd again with Del Cerro some VAR controversies.
ReplyDeleteI don’t see a foul?
ReplyDeleteI am not the only that saw the foul right? Carlos Del Cerro Grande I don’t believe u can make that type of mistake
ReplyDeleteI have arguably a reckless foul on Brazil.
DeleteAgree and YC with.
DeleteWhat the hell VAR doin again!? Crystal clear foul by Cunha… goal still stand… Can anyone understand it!?
ReplyDeleteThe crew lost track of time. The break should have happened before the KO.
ReplyDeleteI also think with the VAR checking the goal perhaps that’s why they were distracted and missed taking the break early.
DeleteReckless tackle on the goal action as well for me really surprised by no OFR here.
ReplyDeleteMissed YC on 31' for reckless challenge
ReplyDeleteMissed yc on Brasilia 31
ReplyDeleteRefcam actually showed that he is not seeing the contact, so blind decision from him.
ReplyDeleteOn the goal situation*
DeleteCompletely agree. Same feeling. We saw that Hdz Hdz can’t see…nothing. VAR HAD TO HELP him !
DeleteStrong contact on defensor's foot at the same time that the ball touch the leg of the defender. Dificult to ser for Hernandez but i think that is a clear and obvious foul, and VAR must intervene
ReplyDeleteBased on ref cam H^2 was right there too... RFEF... Anyways, clear foul missed.
ReplyDeleteI think he’s blocked by a player and he can’t see the contact from his position.
DeleteHmm Looking again I think I agree.
DeleteAnd imagine it was vice versa,or some other South American country like Argentina or Colombia...We would be hearing about robbery all day and night
ReplyDeleteEspecially after the first match.... Collina and teams very "lucky" it's "just" Haiti.
DeleteYep.
DeleteWhat will happen if refs crumble under most pressure when some bigger names are on the line.
But then again,we saw Marciniak and his approach towards Messi so I think the message is that maybe only Argentina and big name country's csn do whatever they like and they imagine.
Strong opinion in that's the biggest VAR question of the tournament.
ReplyDeleteAgree I think it’s the most surprising no intervention as the contact seems really clear.
DeleteThe issue with VAR is that they want a clear error before intervention. If it is an opinion by the referee, a call whether the referee felt the contact was an enough for a foul. Perhaps why no intervention.
DeleteDe Bruyne recklessly fouled Romanian GK at the last EURO, Marciniak allowed the goal and it was deemed correct by UEFA... They don't care about LotG anymore. Showbusiness.
ReplyDeleteThe hide it behind football understanding
DeleteIn some ways you’re correct. They want a fast paced game, the referee to let the game flow with minimal cards. It changes what is classed as careless, reckless and excessive force when cards are not shown. It is about the show, it is about entertainment and the money that flows from it.
DeleteBut then they wonder why the game errupted in the Aus vs USA game. Blame the referee instead.
Potential PK for holding offence but haven't seen any replays
ReplyDeleteSimilar to the Mbappe decision it won't make a difference in the outcome, but I still think that the first goal is an APP foul. I will be curious to hear what the insiders hear about it.
ReplyDeleteCorrect YC, clear step on foot.
ReplyDeleteI would say the first goal must be a foul.
ReplyDeleteHowever, the fitness and positioning of Hdz Hdz is very impressive, we can all see how much he is motivated and feel honor to whistle a world cup game.
His positioning is why he missed the blatant foul on 1-0. He was blocked.
DeleteThat should be a harsh comment. His sight was blocked by the player appeared from out of his eyesight. Very difficult to adjust that moment I would say as a referee.
DeleteHis movement to focus on vinicius is fully expected one, missed foul is the definite consequence but very unlucky one. And all the ref in the world would know he will feel uncomfortable when he watch the replay after the match.
DCG must intervene, but we cannot blame Hdz Hdz for that scene.
If you wanna say all the wrong decision due to blocked sight should be ref’s fault, we need 10s of real-time cameras accessible.
It's hard to believe just how bad a referee Hernandez Hernandez is.
ReplyDeleteHis disciplinary action today could be used as an example in any course on what not to do. Brazilian players could do whatever they wanted and still not get a yellow card.
So far, only Marciniak has been worse than him.
I will not go that far but you can clearly see that he is not at the level of this game and this competition. When you only have 10 games in UCL and the biggest is a round of 16 there is a problem in the choice and he is not responsable of it. At the end not a terrible game, but really bad in discipline tonight and obviously big mistake in the 1st brazilian goal.
DeleteA lot of those who commented in the Felix S game are not commenting here, are you guys watching this game? As one commenter said, if this wasn’t Haiti then there would much more uproar
ReplyDeleteAgree, the fact that Brazil win it 3-0 might have saved him tbf, even if I think we should be as harsh
DeleteI was half-watching, that was much poorer than the first game which wasn't overall poor, just average
