  1. Lot of correct although easy foul calls early on, Makkelie is well awake

    1. Well considering what needs to happen for YC,I am surprised when refs even call a foul.

    4. FIFA doesn’t want these kinds of early YCs. Honestly there were all premises for YC, though

    1. Lmaooo Swedish player can be on 1 to 1 vs GK without this move...

    2. Agree. YC missed to Saliba.

    3. Sorry, totally disagree with calls for a YC. Attacker is facing the wrong way! Is he going to run backwards towards the goal as well? Never SPA, never reckless. Ok for common careless foul

    4. Remove the offender and he will easily turn. Blatant yellow.

    5. Saliba doesn't commit a foul, so the non-YC to him is correct (Gyokeres holds his shorts and has no interest in retrieving the ball). The person who should have been cautioned in this incident according to strict refereeing is Upamecano, for seconds before having committed a clear off-the-ball holding on Isak.

  4. It’s refreshing to see Makkelie actually calling fouls when they’re fouls. That used to be the normal standard before this World Cup.

  6. I am amazed by the speed of the Offsides Check

  7. So far so good. Very calm matching the tone of the match. Tending onto far in front of play. Looking over his shoulder. Perhaps the heat and potential fast pace causing this tactic.

  15. Not a pretty challenge. How was this not spotted or punished?

  16. Again big dissent by French players he need to control them very quickly, very frustrated players

    1. When you saw replays from the foul missed on Olise, you can understand…

    2. @referee analyst, completely but from a referee side he needs to stop or calm them down or it's gonna be a big issue for him for the rest of the game

    4. The late missed sliding tackle by Tanaka in Japan-Sweden around 5' was way more reckless and dangerous than this one... And everyone was arguing for no foul and no PK on that situation. Makes no sense at all

  17. Unbelievable miss by Makkelie. No word.

  18. Sorry,my anynody explain me if player in tackle have the ball first, and Makkelie showed it clearly, how can that be a foul?

    1. you can touch the ball and comiting a reckless challenge or even SFP, touching the ball does not mean that the challenge is correct

  19. Any chance of any of the refs at this wc putting a performance that every can recognise as good. Each game passes and the standards continue to be so poor

  20. The ball was moving during a quickly taken corner kick right before the goal. Can VAR intervene in these types of positions

    3. For me clear error by referee crew. The ball was 100% moving.

    4. Hum. Difficult. Not clearly relevant. VAR stuff.

  21. For me I have to take a dimmer view than most on that first half. Not terrible but for me not as convincing as other first half performances so far. Foul detection for me has been a bit hit and miss and consistency of contact also the same. Missed YC on 37' being the standout miss. Lacked the impressive authority that others have produced. No major issues or controversies to report but certainly not a performance to remember so far.

  22. Makkelie struggles with his technical line IMO. A lot of (too) soft fouls called, not in the spirit of this WC. And then you have this stonewall YC not even detected as a foul. His 1H lacks consistency for my taste.
Apart from than, OK performance so far.

  23. Half time, pretty good performance from Makkelie and his team, and on the missed YCs it's now a new normal at this tournament you just have to deal with it tbh i didn't find anything relevant to post regarding refereeing its good flowing game Hope the second half be nothing less
