UEFA-CONMEBOL Club Challenge 2023 - Referee Appointment

Slovenian  Rade Obrenović has been assigned to handle the first edition of such trophy.

    The nature of this game is very unclear.
    In addition to consider it as a new edition of the Antonio Puerta Trophy, UEFA and CONMEBOL have taken the opportunity to launch a new tournament, which they are calling the UEFA CONMEBOL Club Challenge. In recent days there have been controversies regarding the official nature of the title. While the South American organization considers it a title in its own right, UEFA refuses to do so. "The match is considered a friendly, as both clubs have agreed unlimited substitutions with three scheduled interruptions in accordance with UEFA club competition regulations," explained the highest body of European football.
    Almost inexistent media coverage in Europe, outside Spain.

    Wow, what a bad appointment where politics is the only reason for this appointment. Obrenovic has had a bad career on the pitch with many mistakes but because his is from SVN, this saves him. If a referee from another country, especially smaller ones such as Armenia, the referee career would be over after just 1 mistake.

    2 YC's were mandatory,rest of the game went in recreational mode.
