  1. Del Cerro Grande path at international level reminds of Velasco Carballo who got very earlier in his career as Elite referee a CL semifinal and then EL final. The Spanish can be really satisfied. Strong name now for EURO 2020, clearly ahead of Gil Manzano. The latter maybe will be kept and will make more experience on the road to Qatar 2022.

    2. Del Cerro Grande seems to be Rosetti's favorite.

  2. Makkelie for the EL final?

  3. For me now it is clear. Rocchi in Liverpool, Cakir in Ajax, EL SFs Makkelie and German, Rocchi EL Final with Turpin reserve, Skomina CL Final.

    1. Alternative Brych in Liverpool and Zwayer in EL

    2. I think we won't see a German official in El second leg. Turpin would have been in second leg and Zwayer or Brych in first leg

  4. I feel bad for referees without the VAR experience. First not appointed in UCL because of the lack of VAR experience now in EL semi final the same referees who were appointed before are now appointed again. I know they are the best refs available but I feel other elite referees can get the job done

    1. Well I have seen moderate and poor performances in the UEL by the referees as Oliver, Hategan, Orsato and Collum. For this reason it's very logical that UEFA appoint their best referees who also performed excellent in UCL.

      Delete
    2. They weren't poor in my opinion and the UCL referees if not for VAR they would have made crucial mistakes. Take a look at Mateo Lahoz who failed to send of salah for SFP is rewarded with a CL semi final and happy for him but if English teams where not involved in both EL semi final one of the English men would get an appointment

Interesting videos uploaded by RFEF for Mother's Day, short interviews with the mums of Mateu Lahoz, Undiano Mallenco, Gil Manzano, Estrada Fernández, Prieto Iglesias and Martínez Martínez (a former women's FIFA referee). As lots of people insult their mothers, but almost nobody knows who they are...

  10. Hategan and his regular team will referee tomorow Concordia - Botosani, a low game for me. Maybe he will be at Stanford Bridge next week?

    ReplyDelete
  11. I'm sorry, but the Romanian team doesn't deserve at all that appointment. Too much mistakes by ARs in Napoli - Arsenal, unacceptable at these levels IMO.

    1. but Digisport confirmed that Hategan will be at Stanford Bridge. He can't have Arsenal because he ha it in the previous stage, and the only option is Chelsea - Eintracht. https://www.digisport.ro/fotbal/europa-league/ovidiu-hategan-va-arbitra-un-meci-retur-din-semifinalele-europa-league-653155

    Italian trio attending UEFA CORE:
    Luca Massimi
    Valerio Colarossi - Marco Bresmes
At moment they are serie B officials.
According to some previous sources, also confirmed by people inside AIA, Antonio Giua (the most perspective referee we have) was planned for attending CORE, but then I think something happened and Massimi replaced him.

  13. Turpin with a very challenging game. A penalty appeal by Arsenal... and now a possible missed RC for Arsenal.

    1. Should have been a YC at least. Sorry, leniency and match management is one thing, but letting such tackles go early in the match.... not a fan of it.

      Delete
  14. First YC by del Cerro was a possible RC for SFP as well.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Quite dangerous, but also quite unusual to see a RC for such a tackling.

  15. Yellow still ok, but near boarderline

  16. Possible but not mandatory in my eyes.

  17. Uuh, was there a DOGSO in Frankfurt?

    1. No, wasn‘t. Looked a bit like it at the first sight. As if Christensen hold back Gacinovic for a little moment.

  18. Missed foul and card for Kolašinac?

    1. Yes. Not a good performance so far by Turpin. Two missed YC for sure, and possibly one of them was red. IMO, it was.

      Delete
  19. Excellent performance in the first half. Adelante Carlos !

  20. Good game Del Cerro, I like his style and management

    ReplyDelete
  21. Another dark YC issued by Del Cerro.

    1. Agree. I was surprised with no card decision

      Delete
  23. Del Cerro Grande. Good/expected performance?

How was Turpin? Didn't watch his 2nd half.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Solid second half by Turpin, nothing to say.

      Delete
    2. Carlos Del Cerro Grande with a very lenient approach in Frankfurt, that succeeded well. Second half was quite calm until the last ten minutes, where both teams started to pressure each other much more. Some very good NO PENALTY decisions (78' - no handball / 85' - no foul in penalty area). However, one can discuss a missing penalty for Chelsea (66' - foul on Giroud, pushing him to the ground).

The global picture however stays a very good one: superb fitness abilities until the very end of the game. Even in 90+4' Del Cerro is still able to make a sprint without any problem. I also appreciate his personality, I think he's an excellent game and player manager (see his management at 83') and once he started talking to the players, he was fully accepted and respected, thank to his emphatic approach.

I think Carlos Del Cerro can be very happy after an excellent first six months in Elite Group, I think he justified why he got this semifinal appointment so early in his Elite career. With performances like these, IMO a strong candidate for Euro 2020.

      Delete
    3. Watched Del Cerro at the Stadium, so perhaps didn’t catch a perfect view of all the relevant situations.

Overall though, one of my favorite referees this season. Good assessment of fouls (and pretending), cards not perfect but ok, good communication, always in control, and seriously...this guy is fit!
I don’t see any scenario where he isn’t nominated for Euro 2020.

      Delete
  24. Okayish performance by Turpin overall. Some mistakes in his card management but expected level IMO.
One can discuss about the potential RC. Borderline IMO, but at least a YC was mandatory.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Possible YC for Pedro at the end...but Cerro excellent

  26. PREDICTIONS FOR NEXT WEEK

    CHAMPIONS LEAGUE:
Barcelona - Liverpool: Felix Brych (GER)
Ajax - Tottenham: Cüneyt Çakir (TUR)

    EUROPA LEAGUE
Valencia - Arsenal: Danny Makkelie (NED)
Chelsea - Frankfurt: Ovidiu Hategan (ROU)

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Brych won't be doing Barcelona after what happened in the quarter final.

      Delete
    2. My guess would be Cakir in Liverpool and Skomina/Rocchi in Amsterdam, depends on who will get the final.

      Delete
    3. Accodrding to Izo`s words: "Skomina and his team is delegated for 1st Slovenian league match at 6th of May. So no Leg 2 for him. Final match maybe?"

      Delete
    4. In this case I see Rocchi (or Brych?) in Amsterdam and Skomina in the final.

      Delete
    5. I think, it will be absolutely deserved due to his achievement list! On the other hand, his game management after last year semifinal AS Roma - Liverpool isn`t good. Unfortunately

      Delete
    6. Cakir has handled the quarter final game Tottenham - M.City, so it's quite unlikely to see him in Ajax - Tottenham.
IMO Cakir in Liverpool and Rocchi in Amsterdam.

      Delete
    7. Last year, Brych was at Liverpool - Man City first leg and Liverpool - Roma 1st semifinal.

      Delete
    8. I think Rosetti would not appoint teh same referee for the same team both in quarter and semifinal. Furthermore with an OFR border line decision in favor of that team. (Goal awarded after Llorente handball)

      Delete
  27. Skomina is indeed appointed on Monday evening with his European team (Skomina - Praprotnik, Vukan - Vincic) to a rather low profile domestic match. Doesn't happen very often here in Slovenia. Preparation for the CL final?

However, missing the foul in 44 was crucial as Frankfurt conceded after the directly following corner.

    4. Good luck to him. He might get a chance to ref more meaningful games next year in Europa league, not just games in the summer.

      Delete
    5. There are roughly 80 referees in the second category and half of them are considered for promotion? It seems awkward to me. there should have been a shortlist of 20 referees max as candidates for promotion considering that only very few will be moved up in June. I think Daniel Siebert and Andrew Dallas will be definitely promoted. There might be 2-3 others that might be moved up..I hope one of them is Chris Kavanagh. I really like his style.

      Delete
    6. Chris Kavanagh missed a red card for SFP in Everton - Burnley.

      Delete
    7. Siebert is already First Group and Kavanagh is on his 1st year as a FIFA ref. So promotion seems unlikely.

      Delete
    8. Kavanagh will be promoted soon as a great talent/prospect for the future. Dallas, Irrati, Levnikov, Meler, Arteleanou, Scharer, Dingert (not Siebert), Hingler and Hernandez Hernandez would be my first options for promotion.
