So Gil Manzano (Levnikov), Buquet (Pedersen), Treimanis (Trentalange) and Massa (Tutk) with probably most important observers. Considering Treimanis did not have a single CL match last season this could be a good sign for him. Similar to that, Massa was chosen over Guida with important observer so also I guess a good sign for him.
ReplyDeleteKabakov is not appointed so I guessed that missed RC was assessed as crucial mistake.
I forgot - I expected Bobby Madden and Pavel Raczkowski to be appointed but nothing this time.
DeleteAbout Guida, I start to think he is injured, otherwise he should have got at least a single appointment... indeed he is also out as main referee from the first two matchdays of serie A, appointed only as VAR. This wouldn't be the first time he has physical problems and I must say this is absolutely infulencing his career, unluckily for him.
DeleteNo Georgi Kabakov?
DeleteMadden was appointed in the 3rd round so more or less expected, although Mariani and Palabiyik are appointed again.
DeleteIndeed for Raczkowski is very surprising that he isnt involved! He was appointed for Belgium-Iceland in NL, also last weekend in Poland extraklasa so no clues about injury.
Madden, Gestranius and Rackowski missing?
DeleteAll of them had UCL group stage games last year.
How about Nijhuis?
DeleteGuida will handle Lazio vs Internazionale next Sunday. He's not injured.
DeleteHello viewers around the Globe, I was despondent because i had a very small penis, about 2.5 inches soft and 4 inches hard not nice enough to satisfy a woman, i have been in so many relationship, but cut off because of my situation, i have used so many product which doctors for me, but none could offer me the help i searched for. i saw some few comments on the INTERNET about this specialist called Dr,OLU and decided to contact him on his email: Drolusolutinthome@gmail.com) so I decided to give his herbal product a try. i emailed him and he got back to me, he gave me some comforting words with his herbal pills for Penis Enlargement, Within 3 week of it, i began to feel the enlargement was surprised when she said that she is satisfied with my sex and i have got a large penis. Am so happy, thanks to Dr OLU I also learn that Dr OLU also help with Breast Enlargement Hips and Bums Enlargement etc.. If you are in any situation with a little Penis, weak ejaculation, small breast_hips_bums do get to Dr OLU now for help on his email ( Drolusolutionhome@gmail.com ) or add him on whatsapp line +2348140654426
DeleteI want to thank Dr Emu a very powerful spell caster who help me to bring my husband back to me, few month ago i have a serious problem with my husband, to the extend that he left the house, and he started dating another woman and he stayed with the woman, i tried all i can to bring him back, but all my effort was useless until the day my friend came to my house and i told her every thing that had happened between me and my husband, then she told me of a powerful spell caster who help her when she was in the same problem I then contact Dr Emu and told him every thing and he told me not to worry my self again that my husband will come back to me after he has cast a spell on him, i thought it was a joke, after he had finish casting the spell, he told me that he had just finish casting the spell, to my greatest surprise within 48 hours, my husband really came back begging me to forgive him, if you need his help you can contact him with via email: Emutemple@gmail.com or add him up on his whatsapp +2347012841542 is willing to help any body that need his help.
DeleteOverall expected appointments. Kabakov seems to have been 'punished' for his poor performance in Mitdjylland-Young Boys.
ReplyDeleteKavanagh is clearly being pushed, wow.
Nice match for Mariani ;)
So for CL PO second legs we can guess: Mateu Lahoz (ESP), Brych (GER), Orsato (ITA), Kuipers (NED), Skomina (SVN), Marciniak (POL).
ReplyDeleteTyring predictions:
FC Midtjylland (DEN) - SK Slavia Praha (CZE)
Felix Brych (GER)
FC Salzburg (AUT) - Maccabi Tel-Aviv FC (ISR)
Daniele Orsato (ITA)
Omonoia FC (CYP) - Olympiacos FC (GRE)
Antonio Mateu Lahoz (ESP)
Ferencvarosi (HUN) - Molde (NOR)
Damir Skomina (SVN)
PAOK - Krasnodar
Szymon Marciniak (POL)
You missed match for Kuipers ;)
DeleteBtw, four of these referees had a CL final, so seems that Lahoz and Marciniak are favorites for next CL final.
Totally surprised seeing Artur Soares Dias refereeing AEK Athens after what happened last March at the greek cup semifinal. I remind you that he reported that AEK's owner attacked his AR during halftime grabbing him by his "balls".
ReplyDeleteThat is really surprising! UEFA has such a short memory? :)
DeleteUEFA recently made another surprising appointment by assigning two referees from the same country to France's matches within 3 days... then realized their error and made a last-minute change.
DeleteHave you watched the penalty decision in the Plzen Sonderjyske match? Unbelievable mistake by Rumsas, there was no contact whatsoever. Even Plzen players didn't appeal for the penalty!
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XgR1fbtYlX0 (from 3:05)
I agree, a hugh mistake.
DeleteIt now seems obvious that Mariani and Kavanagh will make CL GS débuts this season. In my opinion, this is a huge affront to meritocracy in UEFA Refereeing!
ReplyDeleteI hoped the trimming down of the Committee would allow Rosetti more freedom to decide fairly, but ostensibly exactly the opposite has happened.
+1
Delete+1
DeleteI think quite unlikely for Mariani, as he did not even do EL debut, this can sound really strange loking at his assignments, but I never saw a referee with a double GS debut in both competitions on the same season. Regarding Kavanagh, you are right, committee is strongly pushing him. Maybe Pawson did not satisfy too much Rosetti & Co?
DeletePawson can be in best case 1st Cat referee, and thats all. Cavanagh is next top ref from England.
DeleteI follow the Premier League, and though I generally like his refereeing, I simply don't understand the level of admiration I see for Kavanagh. Age is on his side, of course, but otherwise there is nothing in his refereeing that would raise him so much above, for example, Pawson. I would argue, even, that Pawson is generally better when it comes to decision-making and man-management.
DeleteItaly only has Orsato at the top currently, so maybe Mariani will skip UEL GS and will go directly to UCL GS? Italy is the only Top 5 FA with only one referee there and Rosetti cannot allow that. Let's wait and see!
DeleteWell, Italy also has Massa and Guida with CL experience.
DeleteI am not a fan of those quick promotions to CL matches (if it would happen for Kavanagh/Mariani). I would prefer to always see a good, "full" EL season (PO + 3GS + R16) first before sending someone to CL.
Yes, but... Massa did not convince and Guida, as someone said, has repeated medical problems, so Italian FA and Rosetti keep looking for better solutions.
DeleteNot Italian FA but Italian referees association (AIA), 100% independent from FIGC, they are very proud to underline that and I agree.
DeleteWe will see for Zwayer after his poor performance in last 1/8 CL
ReplyDeleteAlthough it sounds a bit weird, but it seems that Zwayer is the clear No. 14 in UEFA at the moment. The 12 expected CL PO referees + Taylor are in front of him, but I also don't see anybody else with a better standing than Zwayer. Probably Gil Manzano and Soares Dias come the closest.
DeleteIndeed Philipp in my opinion among the EL play-offs for sure Zwayer is the most sonorous name, talking about consideration by committee. He is clearly number 1 among the Elite referees we see in this round of Europa League. Committee has big expectations on him, but performances were definitely not good in recent times. He must recover, after Brych he is the name for World Cup 2022 for Germany without doubts.
DeleteDeniz Aytekin and Pavel Kralovec are missing. The former is injured, but I don't know what happens with the latter.
ReplyDeleteYes right, Kralovec, I forgot him as well!
DeleteI see that he is regularly appointed in Czech league, last game 4 days ago, so for sure there is something we don't know.
He officiated only one UEFA game in recent times, Kosovo - Greece 6 September Nations League.
Looks like we all forgot on Kralovec :/. I realy don't know what is happening with him and what is his status within UEFA.
DeleteCyril Gringore (FRA) missed Turpin's last match, but now is appointed as Buquet's AR.
ReplyDeleteEredivisie: FC Twente - FC Groningen
ReplyDeleteVAR took 4 minutes and 43 seconds(!) to check if it was offside. Due to the overlap of the two lines, VAR supported the offside decision as within "the margin of error" (within 10 entimeter of actual).
https://twitter.com/FOXSportsnl/status/1309559236939124737
https://twitter.com/Burgemeester/status/1309604667702337536
As a result of taking 4:43, the first use of offsideline technology at Eredivisie has received a lot of criticism because the score seems to be correct, not offside.
I think the use of error is fine, but with this result taking 4:43 seconds, I don't think I need to draw a line.
1) 4:43 is a disaster, it mustnt take so long
Delete2)We had a situation in Croatia when the lines were overlapping and, as far as I understood, it was interpreted as "no offside", which would IMO be in the spirit of the game. The question should be whether there is offside or not, and not whether the AR made a good call, at least that is how I see it.
VAR would have made the same decision even without offsideline technology. I don't understand the need for this technology.
DeleteHow many VAR interventions for Kavanagh in Brighton & Hove Albion - Manchester United? According to some sites, at least three. Any info about his performance?
ReplyDeleteThat isn't even the case. He blew the final whistle then was called for an OFR for a blatant hand ball after the final whistle. I like the referee but he is pushed way way too much by UEFA. He doesn't even get top games in England yet, aside from a Merseyside derby, I can't recall a top match between the top 6
DeleteBut to answer your question only two OFR but quite a bit loud because he did one after the Final whistle
DeleteIs an OFR allowed AFTER the final whistle?
Delete@Anonymous Yes!
DeleteDidn't catch the game but watching the post-match coverage on BT Sport the referee isn't the big talking point, so it can't be that bad of a performance. Just unusual as it was the first time in England a VAR review has taken place after the final whistle.
DeleteThe two ex-players think it was wrong to disallow the Brighton penalty but the ex-ref thinks the review was correct. I'd say it was a soft penalty award.
I would like to have seen some yellow cards handed out at the end, too many players crowding/shouting at the ref, and then delaying the penalty kick.
Video of the incident:
Deletehttps://streamable.com/9tjjdc
Correct call in the end, but I think in cases like this referee should maybe stop the game, wait for VAR and then call the penalty or blow the final whistle. I think it would be much better than what happened there today.
DeleteThanks for the video.
DeleteSome considerations:
1) Very clear punishable handball, no doubts about VAR intervention and I'm happy that now in England this is working.
2) Kavanagh could have seen it live, according to this screenshot, I think he had free view:
https://ibb.co/gTs24K5
3) He should have managed better situation, waiting for VAR consultation before whistling the end.
However, I think that points 2 and 3 are related, despite of being apparently in visual control, Kavanagh totally missed the incident, so he was not aware what had happened.
I also saw the other VAR intervention in first half for annulling penalty, another good call. VAR is working well there. Imagine this game some months ago without any intervention and supporting the calls...
Yes, correct call, but a FIFA referee who recently got the UYL final and is now being pushed by UEFA is not supposed/expected to handle such situations better than the average referees?
DeleteQuestion: if GK saves the penalty and the ball comes back to one of Manchester players and he scores, it's goal valid according the lotg ? I'm asking bcz the game has finished. Thanks
DeleteNo, only the penalty execution is allowed.
DeleteIn case of save by keeper, match ends there.
I read that this penalty is creating big controversy in England, with many people astonished for the call. I just hope that this happens because before today in Premier League referees didn't want to use the technology properly, but if some people are convinced that this penalty is wrong, I really can't find explanations. In all cases, this is the result when you change the line with VAR, England should have used it since the introduction always in the same manner.
DeleteAgree with you chefren but in this case i don't understand why other players should stay on penalty line and ready to enter on the penalty area.
DeleteThe controversy is, of course, due to the fact that this penalty was called while the game was 'finished'. This doesn't have anything to do with England, this would create controversy anywhere. Same happened in Germany when a penalty was called during half-time.
Delete@Chiagozie: Chris Kavanagh handled LIVERPOOL FC - LEICESTER CITY last season, the match between the teams in positions 1 and 3 at that time or in positions 1 and 5 according to the final standing. ;-)
DeleteThere was another very controversial incident, when VAR overturned a penalty given by Kavanagh. It's about a foul made by Pogba (from behind, he felt over the forward). For me it was clear penalty. Anyway, I don't understand why VAR intervened because it wasn't a clear and obvious mistake. For me, Kavanagh was very poor today.
DeleteWow!!! For Christopher Kavanagh... I can't say more..
ReplyDeleteEverton penalty, what do you think? Close proximity to the attacker, close to the body, certainly was not deliberate. For me it was harsh, an "Italian" penalty, only in Italy I see such penalties regularly given.
ReplyDeleteAnyone watched West Brom - Chelsea game? Chelsea scored the equalizer in the 93rd minute after a handball in the build-up. VAR checked the situation, but the goal remained valid:
ReplyDeletehttps://streamja.com/GZq1O
Correct that there was no VAR intervention - I don't think it was deliberate and the ball was cleared by a West Brom player, so it didn't immediately create a goal scoring opportunity.
DeleteBorderline situation, but I agree that VAR didnt need to intervene.
DeleteIf the referee saw and whistled handball, it would have been supportable too.
PK situation in Elche-Real Sociedad (referee: Isidro Díaz de Mera Escuderos)
ReplyDeleteWatch until the very last replay!
https://streamable.com/3ele7r
I did and I understand why. Only in the last replay it was clear that penalty was correct call. From previous two replays looked like cristal clear mistake by referee. Very well spoted (although he had very good position so it was not difficult to make that call).
DeletePenalty
DeleteNo offside (unclear), then no goal (it was close)... the problems of not using glt in laliga.
ReplyDeletereferee: de burgos bengoetxea; VAR: gonzalez gonzalez
Deletenow handball situation 62-- no penalty and decision supported by var... and then dogso situation initially given as offside (player wasn't offside)--var is checking..
Deleteafter OFR: freekick and red card (player was pushed from behind as he ran towards goal)
DeleteCorrect DOGSO RC after VAR review by De Burgos Bengoetxea in BET-RMA, original decision was (wrong) offside.
ReplyDeleteNow penalty after OFR... close offside before handball but...

Some really difficult situations!
DeleteDo you have the situation with the ball on the line/goal-no goal maybe?
Agree, very difficult match for DBB.
Deletehttps://streamable.com/k1rs13
As I said on Díaz de Mera's video I posted above, please watch until the very last replay, because (despite the offside), live it seemed like a goal, but in the last replay (1:25) looks like there's a tiny bit of the ball still on the line.
Thanks, and also for the other clips!
DeleteI suppose they could put the imaginary wall above the line and then try to see if it "touches" the ball, but really seems almost impossible to assess, in case it was onside.
According to Dutch FA. Makkelie will be in Malmo
ReplyDeleteWhat caused that change?
DeleteI looked for info about Kovacs, but I didn't find anything.
DeleteRomanian sites are always updated about referees, but this time no info about replacement, last news reported is the appointment.
I hope he or his AR are not sick. For me it's interesting because the Romanian Federation didn't announce Kovacs appointment for this game. And the FO is from Danemark, not Netherlands. I think something happened with the team.
DeleteDid Kovacs and his team have any domestic matches recently?
DeleteYes, they had a game Saturday night between Viitorul -Astra 4-1, with some mistakes for Kovacs. He missed a clear penalty for the away team and after that he grave them an easy penalty, but is was 4-0 when this happened. By the way, i think Hategan will have a game in NL playoffs. He is appointed tomorrow at Craiova -Csm Iași.
DeleteHmmm... something is happening with Kovacs's appointments on uefa.com... last month he was removed from a France's game and now from this UEL match... if I am not mistaken, both in Sweden. So, either he was replaced in both cases or the UEFA website was showing incorrect info. It cannot be just a simple coincidence?
DeleteDid anyone solve the mystery? :)
DeleteMaybe the FRF try to protect the FIFA referees when they are sick. Maybe Kovacs team get the virus. Because Marius Avram who should be the FO in Malmo, had a match today. So, Marius Avram didn't meet with them. And Kovacs is from Carei, near Satu Mare, and last week here were of lot of cases.

About the penalty in Herning, the defender does not have the minimum idea where the ball is, but the position of arm is risky. He should have been careful. More penalty than play on because in fact opponent could not play ball due to this touch. Naive foul, punishable.
ReplyDeleteOT: Today is Champions league group stage draw. First three matchdays are played week after week and then the same will be with last three matchdays. This also could mean that Committee will not be able to make appointments like the used to, in blocks of two (MD 1,2 - MD 3,4 -MD 5,6). Will they appoint referees for all three matchday at once or will they make appointments for each matchday seperately? It will be interesting to see how will they manage appointments this season.
ReplyDeleteGood, expected performance by Andreas Ekberg in FC Slovan Liberec (CZE) - APOEL FC (CYP). Not challenging match but important decision made in 2nd half additional time - PK for Liberec (1:0). We will definitely see him again at least in EL.
ReplyDeleteThere was contact, you could see it from the angle from behind. Spot on second penalty.
ReplyDelete1st one is not clear mistake, but very very soft I agree. I think it's rather play on.
But Collum is really not consistent with foul selection. Simply prove it why he never reached more and why he is not really a reliable elite referee.
Happens now on a yearly basis that Collum doesn't perform in the qualifiers. Moreover I think he's not an unreliable elite refereee, based on performance principle he should be demoted since 2 years. But we all know Hugh Dallas....
ReplyDeleteChefren, why don’t you delete these comments. They clearly attack the referee and committe member but you do nothing.Ask yourself when you delete comments for some referees.Be consistent please
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Mr.Collum for two correct and brave penalty calls for holding and tackle.
Srđan Jovanović penalty decision in Hapoel Beer-Sheva FC (ISR) - FC Viktoria Plzeň (CZE), YC to keeper (reckless?)
ReplyDeletehttps://streamja.com/Jor1l
very goood decision by Jovanic, it would be perfect if it was bit faster. Reckless, agree
Delete@Anonymous Jovanović waited to see whether a goal would have been scored or not, as UEFA wants (delayed whistle, excellent application). Imagine that while he was whistling for penalty, goal was about to be scored. Very good under this aspect, but I'm not still 100% convinced about penalty, was a real touch on opponent by keeper?
DeleteWasn't the contact initiated by the attacker?
DeleteJoke penalty by Zwayer in Charleroi. 52'

No contact between legs, there is just this hand on opponent, in my opinion simulation.
Oeff, that’s even a quite obvious simulation. Would VAR have been in place, this should be an intervention in my opinion. Zwayer’s position is sub-optimal, unfortunately he doesn’t experience his best days currently.
DeleteThe more we see these penalties awarded by Zwayer, the more need for Brych to continue until WC 2022.
DeleteJust watched it. That is truly awful. One of the worst penalty calls I've seen.

RC in 63'.
Correct RC, genuine attempt to play ball outside the box in a DOGSO scenario.

ReplyDeletefirst penalty 02:20
second penalty 03:35
First penalty brave call most of referees wouldn't have whistled it. Second penalty in my opinion clear as well: you can't say in such circumstance that if there isn't contact, you can play on, because attacker is impeded in his action to reach ball. Defender is late. And, as somebody already reported, a minimum contact existed. Very risky action by defender and good call by Collum.

03:40 penalty
Defender puts leg without reaching ball, this should be enough for a penalty, however my feeling is that attacker used this to create the contact and the whistled foul (not real effect of action by defender on him). Should be supported by observer, though.
Agree, well done by Collum
