Kulbakov involved with France again after that difficult game France - Sweden he's had last november. It's not a great appointment for him though...
ReplyDeleteWhat about Hategan? Chivulete replaced him as fourth official. Maybe Covid19?
ReplyDeleteOr maybe an appointment as main referee in the following days?
DeleteAlthough it would surprise me, if that wasn't planned anyway.
Several matches here, were one could have expected a lower category referee. On the other hand IMO no appointment above the normal level of a referee.
ReplyDeleteSo FIFA/UEFA trying to play things relatively safe here.
Wow; I'm very happy to see Aytekin back on the pitch; Very good he is going to re-born
ReplyDeleteYes, and I really hope he can show the brilliant quality he shows in Bundesliga in his next international matches...
DeleteDebut for Balakin
ReplyDeleteHopefully this will be the good time for him!
DeleteAfter COVID for him and another game annulled for COVID in the teams involved. Third time what will happen?
Aytekin with Zwayer’s ARs. Maybe a replacement?
ReplyDeleteHategan will play CL next and Kovacs will go to Euro with Vasaras!
ReplyDeleteInteresting, Slovenian referee again for BUL-ITA after EC 2015 (Skomina).
ReplyDeleteAnother good opportunity for our referee Əliyar Ağayev from Azerbaijan. Hope he'll do ok.
ReplyDeleteFinally an appointment for him. He lost the chances to get something more.
DeleteHe is a good referee but he didn't get appointment during the season and I don't believe this is related to his performance.
DeleteI am also happy to see him and I hope he will perform well.
DeleteMonzul with male ARs after UEL with female ARs... could be fitness test or other issues?
ReplyDeleteI think no. Just an appointment
DeleteIn case Monzul is being considered for Euro, do you know if her regular female ARs would be able to pass the men's fitness test?
DeleteSimilarly, Frappart referees women's matches with female ARs and men"s matches with male ARs.

OT: Here is a recent Q&A session with WC final ARs Leif Lindberg and Darren Cann giving some insights and anecdotes:

About the penalty whistled by Guida, here the live sequence from the game:
ReplyDeletehttps://streamja.com/21Jw6
I think that decision was taken directly by Guida, without AR intervention. Delay should be because he realized that opponent had been hit and injured after the clean tackle on the ball and he re-analyzed the action in his mind. Should be abosolutely praised for that, I don't know about the rest of his performance, but this is something very good. Of course, we can't know whether VAR would have intervened for proposing a RC. What do you think? Hitting ball before shouldn't be argument for justify YC without any other reason, though.
An argument against RC is, that he is already pulling back: When he plays the ball, the leg is straight, but not anymore at the moment of contact. And after the contact he continues pulling back and doesn't follow through.
DeleteSo no VAR stuff IMO.
Honestly, I am also not sure, whether VAR would/should have intervened in case of no penalty, because this is a rather unusual and unexpected foul decision.
@Philipp S
DeleteAbsolutely agree with you.
What confuses me here that the defender made absolutely 100% clean tackle on the ball, he didnt go careless or reckless with an open foot, but only later he ends with his legs up while sliding. I am not sure what would be the best call here, but I think that what Guida did was supportable.
It's quite tricky! Also the attacker makes a late step 'into the tackle', trying to block it. I think PK and YC is the best decision, RC would not be smart refereeing.
Deletepleased for Nick Walsh highly promising ref who needs more exposure at this sort of level. Good to see Spency as AR2 fantastic talent was spotted by the SCORE academy for SAR role during his progression as a referee
ReplyDeleteAgree with all your comments
DeleteFully Agree, Over the moon for Nick, Great appointment and hopefully the first of many for him. As you say a good referee who needs more exposure at this level, he's learned from one of the best by being Fourth Official to Willie Collum for some time. Scotland has many high promising officials (Munro & Napier as refs and Doig & McFarlane as AR) too name a few and I have noticed the SFA have been selecting those high promising/less experienced referees to more premiership matches this season. Walsh' first Old Firm (as referee) shouldn't be far away imo.
Delete4 decisions corrected by VAR: A world record?
ReplyDeletehttps://tr.beinsports.com/lig/super-lig/ozet/2020-2021/31/yeni-malatyaspor-2-2-gaziantep-fk-mac-ozeti
Rookie Turkish Super Lig referee Mert Guzenge in Yeni Malatyaspor-Gaziantep.
I’m sure Nicholas Walsh’s team will be "magic" in San Marino ;)
ReplyDelete@Marrkoo I disagree, I think he got them all spot on.
DeleteExpected level by Kulbakov - good disallowed goal by AR2 and a little bit generous PK for France. One good YC for dissent to Dembele. But boring match and easy refereeing.
ReplyDeletePenalty by Aghayev for holding at a set piece well spotted. But he should have waited a bit longer for the advantage as nearly a goal was scored - so he was luckier than Schüttengruber yesterday.
ReplyDeleteCorrect rc by petrescu
ReplyDelete20’ : outstanding decision by Cyril Gringore prior to 0-1 for Germany. No offside. Very difficult situation to assess ! Well done !
ReplyDeleteAgree, great onside !
DeleteMonzul missed a foul before first goal in Vienna
ReplyDeleteIm not happy with Vincic’s performance in Sofia. He missed a penalty for ITA at the beginning. Two defenders intervened simultaneously, one of them clearly kicked Chiesa.
ReplyDeleteMoreover, many fouls whistled after normal game play
And now he whistled a penalty for ITA for a minor (or ghost) contact on Belotti.
DeleteVery soft pnalty by Vincic to Italy, almost inexistent but maybe supportable. By far more penalty the incident in 6', he played on.
ReplyDeleteAgree, this one is a phantom penalty
DeleteJust saw the replay. Not the best replay but it seems like defender tripped the attacker.
DeleteEasy match and first half for Turpin. Nothing special. One good YC and very good onside by Gringore.
ReplyDelete56' - Penalty appeal by Bulgaria, replays are not the best in this game, doubts remain but I think it should have been whistled. Handball on the ground by defender.
ReplyDelete64' - penalty appeal by Italy. Vincic was about to whistle, he had put whistle in his mouth but then changed idea. Replay in my opinion shows a penalty, with attacker hit by defender when ball had already passed. Late challenge. Not the best Vincic this evening.
ReplyDeleteExcellent advantage played by Nick Walsh in the build-up to Hungary's second goal
ReplyDeleteI watch Vincic’s performance tonight and I think about some comments about “undeserved” match for Di Bello yesterday... Haha, hilarious
ReplyDeleteVery, very quiet night for Turpin in Bucharest.
ReplyDeleteEasy match and expected level for Clément Turpin. Both 2 good YCs (1-1). Nothing special in this calm match. Good refereeing of French crew.
ReplyDeleteVincic was very insecure with big mistakes unfortunately for bulgarian players. The italians don't need this type of help from referee. Also big mistakes against Italy too. Very bad match for the ref.
ReplyDeleteVery good performance by Bognár (KVXSWE). Kept his nerves and was calm despite a heated start with three bookings for the hosts. Key decisions correct (penalty given, no foul before first goal), good disciplinary choices. Could or should have given a straight RC in 88' (SFP tackle), player was clearly "asking for it" and got send off in 92' for a swing with the arm (SYC).
ReplyDeleteFaultless Aytekin in Israel-Scotland. 2 YCs, 1 for simulation, both fully correct.
ReplyDeleteWell done!
What on earth was UKR16 thinking on?
ReplyDeleteCorrect late PK+RC for DOGSO for Finland by Kovács.
Good awareness before the match by the Finnish team in St.Gallen. They noticed that the goal was too high and after it was replaced, found a hole in the net, that needed to be fixed.
ReplyDeleteI heard that keeper noticed the issue and informed officials.
DeleteYes, but allegedly the goal got broken during the warm up. The check long before the game took place and no issues with the goal was noticed according to an official interview in Swiss TV.
DeleteWatching Gestranius, I was impressed.
DeleteVery good management of the players! I have never seen for example Shaqiri or Xhaka this calm during a game before, very proactive refereeing. A clear line of fouls, which was not easy in this game with teams on a different level.
No difficult situations to solve though. A small holding in penalty area in the beginning of the game. No good camera angles, and the palyers seemed happy with play on. Good management!!
Looks like 3 correct pks from nick walsh for hungary
ReplyDeleteAnyone by chance made any clips of the penalty appeals in Vincic'game?
ReplyDeletehttps://streamable.com/j4iphr
Deletehttps://streamable.com/rs473k
https://streamable.com/egj3w6
Thank you for the clips Felix!
DeleteI only saw the first appeal in 7' minute which I thought should have been a penalty. Now I see these three and I think Vincic got them all wrong. Maybe only the Bulgarian penalty claim (2nd clip) is debatable, but dear oh dear, 4 situations in the penalty area, 4 wrong or at least very questionable decisions... Really, really bad night for Vincic I would say.
