    Are they starting to prepare trios for the Women's Euro or is it because Covid and travel restrictions?

      Well indeed, this is my first observation as well, after having read this set of appointments. Definitely too many particular pairings to think only about COVID issues...
      Also, let's remember that, due to French teams, Stéphanie Frappart never got the chance to officiate Women CL final, maybe this could be the right year for her.

      I think that the most logical explaination is the preparation for Women's Euro. Take the Barca match for example. You have 3 officials from SWE and 1 AR from SVN. They could have sent all officials from SWE (they have 6 Female AR's).

    What is the deal with Norwegian refereeing?

    Moen is absent since many years after his remarkable fall. His new regular AR2 (Lundberg) was removed from the FIFA list this year (retired?)

    Then there was Eskas and Steen who showed potential, but both seem to have slowed their development.

    Can anyone from Norway offer more insight?

      Great question, I remember Moen was a very prospective referee who was in charge of CL KO stage at a young age, but was uddenly dropped from Elite to category 2. Can I know the reason behind this? Although I have not watched him for a very long time, I think he was ok when I watched him back in 2016.

      There is a long story about Moen and his huge disappointments as UEFA referee. You should have followed it! 2016 was exactly the year of the start of the end, at EURO 2016.

    OT

    Antonio Nobre had the worst performance from a foreigner on Greece. The match Asteras Tripolis - Panathinaikos wasn't that hard but he managed to frustrate players from both sides.

    His foul detection was poor, disciplinary control was random at best and there was a penalty appeal at 22' for handball (IMO it's punishable). Moreover match control was below expectations.

    If they bring such foreigners, then I believe that Greek referees should officiate every match.

      The majority of Greek refs are better than the ones Clattenburg uses every way. The problems lies on how the big clubs in Greece and their presidents use football for other reasons. It is above and beyond any ref to manage to keep the clubs happy; not possible.Unfortunately, there is no magical solution. Obviously greek ref is fair to say that they will not be given big games in Europe. I know not many are fans of Sidiropoulos; but I am afraid that when he is retired there will be no replacement in top uefa categories for years. Papapetrou and Papadopoulos are not given enough chances to shine; the rest of them are on lower categories and the new one, Fotias, even though he is bilingual and very educated, he does not seem to be strong on pitch. No Future for at least the next 10 years.

      Maybe one reason why Snoddi resigned. How is possible to improve Greece referees when so many outside referees arrive for normal games.

    Excellent Clément Turpin in the French top clash OL - PSG. He chose a lenient line and kept a full control on the match until the end.
    BTW I wonder why nodoby predicted him for Real Madrid - Liverpool. I feel like for some reason he’s not considered for the biggest clashes in CL KO stage, and that he’s now surpassed by referees like Makkelie or Taylor, which he was ahead of one or two seasons ago.
    Don’t get me wrong, Makkelie and Taylor are excellent referees and they deserve their appointements, but I feel like they’re now ahead of Turpin and I wonder what he did wrong TBH.

      I can partly clear this: Turpin himself did not do anything wrong, but Makkelie and Taylor have passed him because they have (more) natural authority. This is something you either have or you don't, so Turpin did not do anything wrong because it's something he can't really influence, but it's a clear reason as to why Makkelie and Taylor have passed him.

      Nobody predicted him for Real-Liverpool, because he had the English team last round.
      Otherwise I think, he is one of the referees at the moment, who could get any match, therefore I expect him in a CL QF and SF this year.
      He had some top clashes in the group stage, so I don't think, he is behind Taylor.

      And, honestly, it’s questionable whether or not Turpin has really been ahead in terms of quality and performances.
      Turpin’s promotion at the time actually was not deserved, but rather a forced one due to EURO 2016 coming up and no other French referees eligible for that tournament. He undeniably improved a lot since then, to the upper part of Elite, but this lead was more in terms of experience as Elite referee as well as experience in major tournaments, not so much in terms of quality and performances IMHO.

      I agree, I think Turpin has been consistent in recent years. His game is generally ok/good, but not too much surprise (in a good way). I expect him in CL QF and EL SF or perhaps EL Final this year.
