  1. Slightly OT:
2 maybe interesting things about Felix Zwayer. We can expect him to work with 2 completly 2 ARs this season (both internationally and domestically). Robert Kempter (36, formerly AR1 to Osmers) and Christian Dietz (40, formerly AR1 to Aytekin). Judged by domestic performances that is surely a big upgrade. They are relatively young and have both been (with Lasse Koslowski) the best performing ARs in Germany for at least 2 seasons. The replacement of Lupp is not really a surprise, for age reasons (maybe dropping internationally), he was just assigned to get Zwayer a good EURO. But the split with Achmüller (44), with whom Zwayer worked for a very long time should indicate that he is clearly trying to achieve more.

No.2: This Saturday Zwayer will officiate the Bundesliga Topgame between Dortmund and Frankfurt. This is his first time back with Dortmund since the infamous Dortmund-Bayern / Bellingham incident. This happens on the first matchday under new german referee head Knut Kircher.

    1. We can't expect, it's already true. 2 new ARS :D

    2. Also, Kovacs works with two new AR. They are Mihai Marica who was in the final Under 19, and George Neacsu. They replace Vasile Marinescu, who is 48 year, and Ovidiu Artene who is 46. I think that Vasile will retire at the end of the year and maybe Ovidiu will finish this season.

  2. Three German crews is a remarkable number.

  3. Rebecca Welch (England) has called full time on refereeing to take a role in the PGMOL. I had her down to be promoted to the Premier League next season.

  4. Slavia Prague - Lille, Slavko Vincic.

1', 2' Management of early fouls

    https://streambug.org/cv/6e0e79
Very aggressive start of the game by Czech side, trying to equalize the tie. YC could have been already issued for the first challenge, after the second foul one minute later, referee decided to warn the player from home-team. Don't know how much the Slovenian expected such a beginning. Maybe he coul have reacted more.

    9' Management - Warning

Player not respecting the distance at a free kick.

    12' Possible YC for reckless

    Late challenge by French player.

16' Possible YC for reckless or indirect free kick for dangerous play
    https://streambug.org/cv/0fc5f9
Not clear how much opponent was hit on head, after a clean kick on the ball by Lille player. Change of decision aftera few seconds by Vincic who whistled a free kick in favor of Czech side, impossible to check whether direct or indirect.

17' YC for reckless use of arms
    https://streambug.org/cv/07f13e
The same player warned in 2' for the early foul. I think this played a role in Vincic decision, but I don't think that two fouls in 17 minutes are enough to talk about a persistent infringment, so the card should be for the nature of the foul. According to what we can see in replay, in case, definitely wrong. No more than careless, maybe this input came from Fourth Official.

20' Management of time wasting - handball
    https://streambug.org/cv/aac775
Lille already starting to clearly waste time. Very long time spent before the execution of the corner, but referee allowed that, still OK, then the ball kicked away after the handball whistled should have definitely meant YC for the player involved. The Slovenian went with another warning but he allowed too much to French side in this way. Discussions also about the handball, to me rather a wrong decision.

    31' Possible foul
    https://streambug.org/cv/a567a2
Crowd asking loudly for a call by referee at the edge of penalty area, I think rather correct decision to play on.

41' YC for dissenting gesture after a whistled foul
    https://streambug.org/cv/1a5568
A very harsh decision by the Slovenian if compared to previous management of the French player kicking ball away, but of couse a correct call by itself.

42' YC for persistent holding - LoR
    https://streambug.org/cv/9b3c54

44' YC for throwing ball away?
    https://streambug.org/cv/53952b
Not 100% clear in this case, without a close replay, the decision by referee. Possible that the player from Lille was booked for dissenting words after the whistled foul. Should be for unsporting behavior in all cases.

45' Both coaches booked on adivce by fourth official
    https://streambug.org/cv/f0faf1
Impossible to say what they did exactly, very likely also a confrontation between them. The Slovenian crew solved in this wa the situation, then Obrenovic busy to explain the reaons of the choice.

    1. 50' YC for dissenting gesture
      https://streambug.org/cv/fa35c8
Another YC for a blatant dissenting gesture by referee, correct decision. Interesting to hear from the commentators: "Harsh referee, he should expect emotions in a game". This means, but that's now something new for us of course, that they literally don't know anything about refereeing and what to consider acceptable behavior and what not.

      55' Penalty area incident
      https://streambug.org/cv/b2a272
This could have changed the history of the tie. Vincic played on. Extremely risky action by defender, but I think the intensity can suggest us that it was at least supportable to play on, in the meaning of not clear and obvious mistake. To underline, the clear gestures by referee to play on. Then, VAR very likely with the correct decision to stay silent, once Slovenian referee decided to play on. But from an on field point of view this can be definitely expected to be whistled, because with both hands and with an effect on attacker. Another argument against the call is that attacker puts arms on the back to find contact with defender, but he doesn't reach clearly the target.

      61' Penalty area incident
      https://streambug.org/cv/87219e
This time no live reaction by the Slovenian, maybe it would have been too dangerous! Without signals by AR1, I think he fully relied on VAR for this one. At the end correct decision, not a contact that could justify a penalty call, play on after VAR check. To add, I don't understand, and this happens in many games, while for some situations the VAR shows "CHECK" and for others no (watch the incident in 55'). But of course they check everything and that's most important thing!

      73' Management - Time wasting
      https://streambug.org/cv/d2af02
Here we go again, at first a very long time before the execution of a free kick by away team, then you can see this action by a player already booked. Kicking ball away, but not in a blatant way, maybe he wanted to pass it to keeper. :) Referee allowed this behavior and he smiled. Definitely not the best management to me, where a second card could have been possible, but in all cases you can't show that reaction considering how you have managed previous cases before.

      84' Good ONSIDE AR2
      https://dubz.co/c/ba27eb
      https://postimg.cc/G4YpC5Gx
VAR confirmed the regular position of attacker when Slavia scored 2-1. Both assistant referees were good about offside decisions in the game.

    2. So, what to say? For sure an extremely challenging game for referee. In first half he was very busy with fouls and disciplinary control, then in second half two penalty area incidents and the management of the time wasting by French side. His performance was surely not faultless, but before the rest, one must absolutely point out again how much hard this task was. Nevertheless, I think that in this game we saw once again the nature of the Slovenian referee, definitely not prone in taking extreme decisions that can become arguments for discussions, he rather prefers to apply a certain style, I would call it "wait and see". When it is possible, even if for a very small argument, to go on, he does that. See the penalty area incident in 55', surely the most important moment of the game, and then the possible second YC in 73'. OK, I fully understand whe he didn't want to give it, but acting in this way he definitely saved himself from some criticisms (from the other side). About the penalty, in case of very evident, VAR would have called it. In this context, he was forced to show cards early in first half, but he had even tried to wait, as you can see whrn he managed the early moments of first half. He understood it was impossible to apply a certain style in this game and he changed. As we very often say, it's possible he will be backed about all the incidents, but maybe this is not the most important thing in this game. He also booked players for their unsportinh behaviors, but when such cards could have turned in sending offs...
To me, despite of the very high difficulty of the game, a performance not at expected level, with the open question of the possible penalty.
It wasn't a very poor display, but surely doing better was clearly possible.
