OT: Marc Batta, Kyros Vassaras and David Elleray will be commitee members in EURO U17 in England next month. Another name, as I earlier said, will be Vlado Svilokos (CRO).
ReplyDeleteNice to read that Elleray will be back, if I'm not wrong, he was missing as observer from a long time.
DeleteWilliam Collum, David McGeachie and Francis Connor appointed to a SPL game this weekend, so I would expect them for CL/EL in next week.
ReplyDeleteTrentalange observation means always something.
DeleteThe big surprise would be to see them in CL, but I don't think this will happen. The Scottish would be out for Liverpool, and I can't imagine him in Real - Bayern.
So only option seems to be Marseille game.
Finally, today Collina talked.
ReplyDeleteHe thanked UEFA President, Čeferin, for having spent some words defending him. He didn't comment about the penalty in Real Madrid - Juventus. He hopes to see a WC without VAR intervention. It would be better to talk about referees, he added. They are preparing well and they will be ready. However, in case of need, technology will be there to help them and that will be very important: not only for the objective situations, but also for clear mistakes in assessing a situation, for example a missed handball a simulation and so on. It would have been a pity to miss the opportunity and to use technology only for offsides and GLT.
But first of all, referees must take the scene with correct decisions on the pitch, and hopefully without VAR.
Isn't it weird that he didn't said anything about the penalty? If he considered the scene as a clear penalty, then wouldn't it be logical to express his opinion to the media and the fans?
DeleteAfter all, he is the UEFA Head of Refereeing and President of FIFA's ref committee.
When a journalist was about to make a minimum reference to the game, by asking a question not directly related to it, he smiled and immediately left the interview.
DeleteThanks, Chefren. Confirms my remark.
DeleteOff topic: I am trying to use the RAP 2014. Can anyone remind me how to (Windows user) enable the considerations/decision/reasons part? I remember I used to do something on my keyboard...

DeleteI knew it was something with J. Many thanks :)
DeletePlease can you tell me if there is anywhere to download the versions before 2016? The most recent ones you can download from the DutchReferee.com but I can't find versions before 2016.
DeleteI really don't know. I downloaded those versions 3 years ago, but I'm quite unsure you'll find them easily...
DeleteThanks for your reply :)
Delete14th minute of Fiorentina-Lazio two straight red cards already, Damato in charge. Any info what has happenined there?
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteIncredible game in Florence for Antonio Damato, not so far away from the WC seminar :D
DeleteNot only two straight RC at the beginning, many other situations and one of the most challenging match ever for both referee and VAR. Hopefully I will manage to post some videos...
I found them on the reddit soccer page.
Delete1st red card https://streamable.com/nevv8
2nd red card. https://streamable.com/gkzdr
Fiorentina penalty. https://streamable.com/8jwje
It was a wonderfully interesting game to watch from both a referee and a fan point of view.
Both RC are wrong for me. The first one is the most blatant. No way that is DOGSO. At most, SPA. From that position it is really hard the player will score, and also there is a defender which could intervene.
DeleteI have more doubts about the second one, but I think the player wouldn't have made it, so no DOGSO also.
1st red=yellow. Promising attack
Delete2nd red=50/50. Acceptable call either way to me.
Penalty. Super simulation.
This comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteThere were also other situations, a penalty appeal, a goal disallowed for offside and a penalty given then annulled for offside.
DeleteMy opinion about the red cards: both are wrong, or at least more than questionable.
In the first case, one can't be sure that it was a shot clearly directed on goal, then, second important thing is that there weren't other attackers in penalty area, so nothing more than YC for SPA.
In the second situation, the attacker in my opinion will never reach the ball, given the rebound, keeper was closer. In addition, foul by defender can be discussed.
Both should have been YC. We can discuss about the fact that VAR supported.
Videos have been deleted, I will try soon to post the clips again, including the other mentioned incidents.
Did anyone see Hartmann in Schalke-Frankfurt, it looked quite an interesting Semifinal?
ReplyDeleteHartmann with a very tough difficult game. After around 15 min. he had a good and clear line. In 2nd half a hard but completely correct RC (the player was less than 1 minute on the field...!) But in the end he destroyed his good performance with a crucial mistake: Hartmann stopped the game whistling too early for hand - which was not correct. Just 1 second before this player who had stopped the ball with his chest and not by hand scored the 1:1. That could not count - and videoreview was not possible cause his whistling had stopped the game... Incredibly tragic for Schalke...
ReplyDeleteTransparency in full effect.
ReplyDeleteVideo assistant referee decisions at World Cup to have written explanations.
"FIFA will place someone in the VOR (video operations room) who will listen in to the VAR's decisions and communicate them to both TV commentators and stadium personnel operating the giant screens.
"So we will have graphics on the giant screens, we will have replays after the decision on the giant screens, and we will also inform the fans about the outcome of a VAR incident and review," said Sebastian Runge, group leader of football innovation at FIFA."

DeleteArsenal - Atlético: Orsato
Marseille - Salzburg: Collum?
This comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteVery likely Orsato has an important game, otherwise I wouldn't explain the appointment of his trio for Lazio - Sampdoria, there were heavy criticisms again and again by Lazio fans after yesterday game in Florence, but for Lazio - Sampdoria Rizzoli would have made basically a different choice. Quite sure we will see them in Arsenal - Atletico, I agree with you...
DeleteHere two videos about the meeting in Italy.
ReplyDeleteSource: Mediaset Premium, shown on Italian TV.
You wont understand the language, however it will be interesting just to watch. In the second video, Rosetti is talking about the importance of VAR for spotting simulations.

90' - RC for Diomandé (Caen): reckless tackle or SFP? (no VAR)
https://streamable.com/37uhc
Thoughts?
Seems like a referee with strong personality. Managing Cavani in this way is something difficult. Definitely one for the future.
DeleteDiomandé's foul is borderline, one can accept either call.
Regarding second offside situation (81'), does VAR in France have calibrated lines or was it only shown in TV?
Why is the goal at 48' disallowed? The defender played the ball twice, quite deliberately.
DeleteRight, usaref. The goal should have stood.
DeleteI'm glad I'm not crazy.
DeleteThe question then becomes how VAR and VR technology--implemented to correct gross injustices--leads to a 100% correct decision being changed. No one cares in this case because PSG won. But imagine what would happen in the World Cup if a team lost a knockout match because of a decision like this.
Joel Quiniou says Di María was in an offside position and impacted an opponent. No comment...
DeleteJoël Quiniou is right.
DeleteBut for offside to be called, the player in an offside position who makes the impact must make a CLEAR ACTION. Did Joel Quiniou say there was a clear action?
DeleteI disagree. Di Maria was in an offside position but did not make an action that affected the defenders ability to play the ball in any way.
DeleteDi Maria should have never been called offside because the defender sas not challenged for the ball when he chose to play the ball, twice!
DeleteRed card correct. SFP, hard tackle, trailing leg. Not thinking about the safety of the opponent there.

I don't know if anyone is watching, but there is a big riot including fans, players, coaches in Fenerbahce-Besiktas. Police run into tunel because players continued to fight in the tunel. I think Kalkavan should end that match, I don't think it is safe to continue. Pepe correctly sent off in 30th minute.

DeleteIndeed it has been abandoned... Terrible scenes!
Not a good evening for assistant referees in LaLiga today :/, specially for AR1 of González Fuertes (lots of work, 4 disallowed goals to Alavés, 3 were correct, but 1 was a blatant onside, crucial mistake because the match was 0-0 and Girona scored on the very next play, at least he got 75%) and AR1 of Alberola Rojas (wrong offside of when Gameiro was about to face Rulli)

Very good job by Tomasz Musiał as VAR in Bruk-Bet Termalica Nieciecza vs Śląsk Wrocław (Zbigniew Dobrynin was the referee). Two on-field reviews - penalty given and red card for VC against the referee issued.

Definitely more SFP than reckless challenge, maybe not a 100% SFP but I would have invited referee to rewatch the incident.

Fully agree, Chefren, with your assessments.

The best appointments are at the moment for Alberola Rojas (UEL qualification clash), González González (relegation team and UEL aspiring team), de Burgos Bengoetxea (relegation team and possibly winner of LaLiga if they win this match), Hernández Hernández (UEL qualification direct clash) and maybe Sánchez Martínez (derby).
DeleteSome interesting appointments for Alberola Rojas after having attended UEFA CORE.
Delete26' of Taylor's Semifinal, opening YC to MNU#25. At least, SFP was rather in view. Especially with his low tolerance of SFP these days I'm surprised he didn't give a RC.
ReplyDeleteMore replays at halftime, reminded me on a tackle in DOR-LIV EL Quarterfinal by Velasco, the tackle by Moreno. Except there fairly high contact, but intensity was low enough to justify a YC, this time.
DeleteGood first half by Taylor overall.
This comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteMikael, you're an encyclopaedia! How do you remember all those situations?
DeleteConvincing Taylor this afternoon, no problems for the 'other' English UEFA Elite referee.
Delete@RayHD I don't have a girlfriend (at the moment)! ;-D
Interesting case yesterday in Córdoba-Sevilla Atlético of 2nd Division, referee is José Antonio López Toca.
ReplyDeleteDOGSO or SPA?, referee decided YC for SPA but nevermind it was the second so the offender got sent off.
Even if it's quite away of the goal, I think a straight red could have been a supportable decision, maybe referee issued YC because he thought the attacker still didn't have full control of the ball?
https://streamable.com/wkyct
In my opinion clear RC for DOGSO. Wihout the foul, player would have controlled the ball, being alone. No chances at all for the other defenders, so...

DeleteCopa del Rey final minute 35: SPA or DOGSO?
ReplyDeleteNot in DOGSO zone, for me supportable decision to YC.
Delete37' YC for Escudero for SPA, some Barça players claimed for RC for DOGSO.
ReplyDeleteJESUS GIL MANZANO is , in this moment, n°1 in Europe. In my opinion obviously !!is in an excellent state of form. I have never seen anyone run so much and so well. My vote for him is 10
ReplyDeleteBarça is already 5-0 but busy minutes for Gil Manzano, first a YC to Iniesta for strong dissent and a penalty whistled for clear handball, he could have held the whistle because immediately Coutinho scored.
ReplyDeleteAnd this is why I think Gil Manzano is not as good as other referees at the moment. What a rush to whistle a penalty when there is a clear GSO. Also, the acceptance problems he seems to have in this kind of matches.
ReplyDelete73' Another great management by Gil Manzano. YC for Busquets for a reckless challenge on Vázquez and YC for Vázquez because he reacted with an attempt of "slapping" on revenge.
ReplyDeleteDidn't they use VAR in the English cup game between Man U and Tottenham? There was a clear violent conduct that if VAR was available would easily have been a red card. He hit hit with force with the fist on the stomach.
ReplyDeleteVAR was indeed used in the game if I'm not mistaken... Andre Marriner was the VAR last night
DeleteThen it's just teerible and completely unacceptable. I am shocked that he decides that a fist in the stomach while lying down with the player is okay.
DeleteIt's England. What do you expect? This has been the norm all season long and for a couple of seasons now.
DeleteVC, SFP? Clueless English have no idea what either of those two are.
Today on La Gazzetta dello Sport, Italian newspaper, it is reported that referee for Liverpol - Roma will be either Mazic or Skomina. The latter seems favourite at moment. In addition, the other not appointed for this game should be the one getting the final in Kyiv. I don't know how much reliable are the sources, maybe they got some rumors during the meeting in Florence.
ReplyDeleteIn any case, I still don't tend to believe...
I'm hoping for Undiano Mallenco to Liverpool, but I expect to be disappointed.
DeleteI would not take anything for granted, I expect surprises......
ReplyDeleteYou are right, Ciempionslig, with Collina you can expect the unexpected. In a few minutes, a surprise can be revealed.
DeleteWe know one thing: Juan Antonio Fernandez is observer so no Undiano or Mateu Lahoz in Liverpool.
ReplyDeleteThis time I'm the only one who can't wait. :)
ReplyDeleteGiven that Slovenian federation reports always appointments, it shouldn't be Skomina. Maybe not even Mazic.
Maybe a surprise... an unexpected Elite referee.
Mažić or Turpin is my guess. I am checking Slovenian federation web page every five minutes and there is no info about Skomina so I will say Mažić or Turpin. Ten more minutes to wait :)
DeleteSome surprises could be Karasev and Hategan...
DeleteHategan maybe, but Karasev would be a huge surprise, expecialy considering that this was not one of his best seasons.
