Predictable to see Skomina in Barcelona:)
ReplyDeleteVincic as AVAR - something new
Terje Hauge is Committee Member ?
DeleteW
No, "normal" observer :)
DeleteVery interesting game for Ekberg in front of Hugh Dallas.
ReplyDeleteKralovec, Kassai seem to be the only elite referees not be appointed in these two days neither for Cl nor in UEL
ReplyDeleteDo you know if Kassai is still injuried
Kassai had been appointed for MD1 and then he got injured, for sure he couldn't recover before this matchday. So we can expect him for MD3 or 4 if available. Kralovec is injured from a long time (it was reported on the blog, I asked for that). He had a surgery in Germany or something like that.
DeleteAbout the missing Category 1 referees, first ame coming to my mind is Aghayev, also mentioned on the blog.
It's first game for Istvan Kovacs with VAR in Champions League. I hope that his AR will know the VAR protocols when they raised the flags.
ReplyDeleteIncidents from the Al-Ittihad Jiddah - At-Ta'awun Buraidah handled by Anastásios Sidirópoulos

At least yellow card missed by Kuipers
ReplyDeleteyes, missed foul from Slavia to Witsel by Kuipers.
DeleteInteresting start for Kovács: the atmosphere is hot, I didn't expect that in this game. He has a very high threshold for foul detection and he is allowing a certain physical play. Already spent a warning for a player from home-team for a late challenge close to sideline.
ReplyDeleteSo far a very convincing approach. Let's see how the game will turn.
Expected level first half by Kovács. Both teams focused on football, referee was in the "background" ready to intervene. Nice performance so far.
ReplyDeleteOverall I liked Kovács during 1st half.
ReplyDelete50' - mandatory YC issued to Ito (Genk), three minutes later possible YC for Lozano (Napoli), stopping a quick counterattack, however given that the action was not 100% clearly promising and the holding not that blatant, no card is still supportable.
ReplyDelete65' - correct YC to Milik for a reckless challenge from behind. A few seconds before referee in communication with VAR following a corner kick decision (they checked a possible handball by defender who deflected the ball in corner). So far still a good performance when 25 minutes are still to be played.
ReplyDelete75' - small reaction by a player from Genk against AR2 after a reported foul. However, given that he was rather calm, I can accept play on without booking.
ReplyDelete78' very, very clear YC for SPA. Good decision by Kovács.
ReplyDeleteGood performance by Kovács, to be honest not a big test in second half, very fair game. I think he can get a second appointment in CL.
ReplyDeleteMaybe in MD 5 or MD 6, because Kovacs and other four from the first category are going to Brasil, for WC Under 17. Before they go to Brasil, I think that they will be appointed for European qualification.
DeleteTwo early YC from Skomina. Both very clear.
ReplyDeleteSkomina showing his first yellow card within the first 6 minutes. Correct decision. Stamp on top of foot.
ReplyDeleteSecond for a reckless tackle by Griezmann.
DeleteIncorrect offside decision from AR2 in Barcelona but he followed the protocol and only put the flag up after the attack petered out.
ReplyDeleteInteresting situation before 1-0 by Zenit. Possible foul, but for sure no VAR stuff. Correct decision to back referee there.
ReplyDeleteAnd third to Pique...not an easy beginning
ReplyDeleteCorrect decision. Trailing leg of Pique caught the player. But your right. This could be a really tough game.
DeletePenalty by Orsato to Valencia: correct decision.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile it looks like Skomina is a bit struggling with yellow cards in Barcelona. Challenging beginning of the game.
Orsato with a intense match. Both teams going for the attack. First YC after 10min (correct), penalty (correct) and 2nd YC for AJA in min 21.
ReplyDeleteFoul detection is oke. First 20minnlot of advantage and no whistles for small fouls. After min 21 one can see a stricter line and more small fouls being punished.
Good news for Kulbakov with a goal regularly allowed after the issues he had during U21...
ReplyDeleteCorrect offside decision by AR2 in Barcelona to disallow goal.
ReplyDeleteGiven the very clear offside one can still discuss about the opportunity to delay the flag... but better that for sure, than a mistake.
DeleteReminded me of the delays for obvious offsides in the women's world cup.
DeleteFair bit of dissent now starting to come towards Skomina.
ReplyDeleteIf someone gives me the minutes of the interesting scenes from Barcelona - Inter game I can cut video clips now.
Delete6, 9 and 22 were YC...
Delete=> 6' YC for reckless stamp (I started stream record late :-))
Deletehttps://streamable.com/e0004
=> 9' YC for standing leg tackle
https://streamable.com/u0n7i
=> 22' YC for reckless tackle
https://streamable.com/q4fr2
Very risky challenge by Piqué there. Orange card.
DeleteFor sure correct by VAR to support this YC, but I think a RC would have been backed as well. Very, very dangerous.
Correct YC for Busquets by Skomina
DeleteI believe it will be very intense 2nd half. Good to have experienced referee.
ReplyDeleteNow a possible penalty for Inter, Skomina had his reasons to play on.
ReplyDeleteOf course correct that VAR supported there. In case of penalty, it would have been the same.
We just had a penalty shout in Barcelona. AR flagged for offside, I think incorrectly. VAR appeared to clear it.
ReplyDelete61' Interesting situation.
ReplyDeleteIt was a foul on Suarez in Inter's penalty area. Robert Vukan signalized offside. Replay show us that wasn't offside.
Skomina didn't saw an accident in penalty area because he was blocked by several players
DeleteI watched that situation again. Supportable decision
DeleteSome mistakes by Vukan in this game.
ReplyDeleteYellow card from Skomina to both Sanchez who had been substituted and now Antonio Conte in the technical area. Would hate to be the 4th official on this game.
ReplyDeleteAntonio Miguel Lahoz has shown the yellow card for boths coach from Leipzig and Lyon and red card for Leipzigs physiotherapist.
ReplyDeleteOffside after disallowed goal by AR2 is correct. VAR confirmed.
Delete*for Lyon
DeleteAntonio Conte mentioned after the game that referees had no respect to him and to his team. I am surprised that Inter coach is so unrealistic, since I think that Skomina and his team did a great job. Definitely nothing to blame them.
ReplyDeleteAnyone else thinking, that Lyon's first goal was offside?
ReplyDeleteIt sure looks like an offside to me. Definitely hard to spot live, 100% VAR stuff.
DeleteWatching it again frame by frame, I think, I was wrong: The defender's leg is stretched far enough to make it onside.
