Good match for Skomina, Rocchi and Hategan.
ReplyDeleteFurther news from Italy about Rocchi.
ReplyDeleteIt seems as UEFA (Rosetti) strongly wanted him for EURO 2020 as second Italian referee with Orsato, at the same time in case of confirmation on the list, he would have been maybe the first candidate (in case of game without Italian teams) for CL final. So for these reasons, Rosetti wanted AIA to confirm him on the list for 2020, but he didn't manage to convince them.
Also, it seems as the officiating teams for EURO 2020 were already ready:
Orsato, Manganelli, Giallatini, Irrati (VAR)
Rocchi, Meli, Preti, Valeri (VAR)
But now something could change inside Orsato's team given the choice by AIA.
AIA made a different choice, and, according to what has been reported, Maresca will replace him.
However, let's remember that Rocchi is already 46 years old and he already got a derogation for 2019, that led him to officiate EL final, otherwise he should have retired even without that. Difficult situation caused by Italian referees association's rules.
All these informations were published yesterday by an important newspaper.
Hi Chefren, on which newspaper did you get these info ? I quickly red "La Gazzetta dello Sport" but I didn't find them.
ReplyDeleteAnd what about Rocchi ? Does he want to be confirmed as FIFA referee or does he prefer to leave international scenario for personal reasons ?
Il Corriere dello Sport.
DeleteClear penalty to England whistled by Skomina, minute 4'.
ReplyDeletePoor start of Romanian in TUR-ALB. Missed stamp in 1', missed reckless tackle of Turkish player that led to soft FK and YC to Albanian player in 4', mass confrontation in 6'...
ReplyDelete13' - After another conflicts well performed public talk to captains and another couple of players. Well done here. But bad behaviour continues...
Delete26' - correct YC #22 TUR for SPA by impeding progress with contact
Delete15 minutes and 4 yellow cards from Hategan.
ReplyDeleteLooks like first 10 minutes of Hategan's performance were very 'hot' so if anyone has clips it would be really interesting to see situations.
ReplyDeleteI think he is crushed under the match. Let's see what happens in the second half.
ReplyDeleteone example, after a foul, the game can only start in 2-3 minutes.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you but only if we forget first five minutes, in which poor foul detection could be one of the factors behind the mass confrontation in 6'.
ReplyDeleteThe management in 13' was excellent indeed and after that players seemed to respect Hategan. He came back to the game thank to that management, I think. In other case, we would've experienced a nightmare. Well done because not everyone could've managed that after such poor start!
Spot on and crucial penalty by Rocchi for France.
ReplyDeleteI have many doubts about the RC issued by Lardot.
ReplyDeleteNot sure if Moldovan player actually handled the ball.
Me neither, but the whole action of the player is quite stupid. He probably didn‘t touch the ball (and then the YC is wrong) but as an already cautioned player he runs the risk of a sending off with this movement of his arm...
DeleteHe did not touch the ball and even if he did that should really not be seen as an obvious attempt to score deliberately with the arm/hand.
DeleteFoul, but no yellow card.

Any comments about.Skomina's match?
ReplyDeleteP.S. last match, when England lost at qualifiers was match against Ukraine in 2009
The referee of this match was ... Skomina:)
Very challenging start for the Slovenian.
Delete- 4' correct PK to ENG.
- 7' penalty appeal by CZE (handball) correctly rejected and YC to #14 for dissent.
- 8' equalizer goal scored by CZE.
- 10 correct YC to ENG #3 for reckless challenge.
Some other incidents.
- 30' foul by ENG #3 on CZE #5 who immediately stood up asking for YC. No cards is OK but a stronger intervention was required.
- 53' missed YC to CZE #8 (reckless).
- 67' unusual scene. Correct foul against ENG #7 (pushing an opponent) but players didn't hear the whistle and play went on with a goal scoring opportunity for ENG. When they realized that game was stopped ENG #7 made dissent gestures. YC was given but for my taste a talk could have been enough.
- 84' goal scored by CZE. In the build-up ENG #3 head hit by an opponent. Correct no foul but maybe game could have been stopped.
- 92' correct YC to ENG #8 (illegal use of arms).
Performance overall was good, expected level.
Your opinion: who exactly will go to UEFA EURO 2020?
ReplyDelete- again 18 teams of referees?
- 2 englishmen again?
- some new faces ?
My 18 names are:
DeleteTaylor/Oliver eng
Lahoz/ Del Cerro spa
Brych/ Zwayer ger
Kuipers/ Makkelie ned
Turpin fra
Orsato ita
Hategan rom
Skomina svn
Cakir tur
Kulbakov bel
Dias por
Collum sco
Sidiropoulos gre
Karasev rus
Maybe, we will see 1-2 women teams...who knows
Where is Marciniak ?
DeleteI would say the following 16 is sure:
DeleteBrych, Çakır, Cerro Grande, Collum, Hațegan, Kuipers, Makkelie, Marciniak, Mateu Lahoz, Oliver, Orsato, Skomina, Soares Dias, Taylor, Turpin, Zwayer
I expect the female trio headed by Stéphanie Frappart - they passed the test in UEFA Super Cup and have VAR experience.
The question mark is the last, eighteenth place (if the quota will be the same).
Bastien, Gil Manzano (three FRA and ESP would be most likely too much), Karasyov (poor form), Kružliak (too early, imo), Sidirópoulos (slightly better last time, we'll see), another female crew? Difficult choice that one.
I agree with those sixteen referees. I don't expect any women trios, but who knows. Y would add Sidiropoulos and Kulbakov to the list. We will see
ReplyDeleteSince EURO is held in 12 countries to celebrate 60th birthday of EURO Championship, my guess is that Referees Committee will fit into celebration. Since I do not see the logic of gathering all refreees in one camp as it usual for this kind of competition since matches will be played in 12 different countries, includimg Azerbaijan, which is not close to any of the other 11 countries. My guess is that a seminar for all elite referees will be held before the tournament and that all elite referees will get a match. That would explain IMO why Rosetii observed Aytekin recently (I dont think they are thinking about demotion). And I also would not be surprised to see Fraapart or maybe Steinhaus to get also a match.
ReplyDeleteI agree with this. What is the point of having categories if you then look outside them for your major tournament? So I would not expect to see any outside the Elite. For fenale refs to be involved they must have done qualifiers IMHO
DeleteI would expect all fit, on form Elite referees to get games. Be interesting to see the 4th official appointments.
I agree with those sixteen referees. DilseSMS
