  1. OT: I read somewhere on Twitter that there is a list of pre-selected officials for WC. Not sure how reliable it is. Any more info?

  2. FIFA plans to officially announce the Arab Cup referees early next week. FIFA will use the tournament as preparation for World Cup candidate referees, so referees from all confederations have been selected.

  3. Penalty for FC Barcelona by Esther Staubli in min. 90+5.
I'm not convinced, to put it mildly ...

    1. For me, also the wrong decision, but I can see why it looked like a foul to her:

  4. UEFA Refereeing Chief Roberto Rosetti commented on Mbappe goal and the decision was correct.

He says : "He made a decision based on applicable law and its official interpretation. The player intervened on purpose to play the ball and the opponent did not interfere with the game."

    1. This does not surprise me. I think the main discussion has been about the law itself, not the application in this instance. Sometimes it needs a a big occasion with big reaction from the fans, because it has definitely happened before and people were unhappy, just not enough I guess.

  5. Do you know when can we expect the appointments for next week? Champions League, Europe League and Conference League?

    1. Maybe debut for Peljto?

He had great game today, big derby Velez-Zrinjski.

    2. Do you thing UEFA will run the „risk“ of sending a non-elite referee to a milan game after what happened in the last games? I think we will see Brych, Marciniak,…
But of course I would like to see Schärer in such a potentially hot game!

    3. Philipp already stated that he makes "pure" predictions, without looking at situations occurred in previous matchdays with the same teams... and he is right. But in reality it is definitely impossible a Category 1 in Porto!

    4. I‘m sorry then, I didn‘t notice that. Porto-Milan would be an interesting test for Zwayer though, but my guess would be an experienced and well trusted elite referee.

    1. Did VAR clear the app? Seems like a pretty good shout for a pull on the arm here.

    2. Besides, this handball can never lead to a penalty.

    3. Regardless of whether you think this situation should be a penalty or not, there is a really clear holding/pulling offence by Icardi right before the handball situation in my opinion. I really don't know how that was missed by VAR.

  8. J.League referee Ryosuke Yamaoka got injured today.

  9. Germany:
Interesting appointments for today's Bundesliga match Borussia Mönchengladbach - VfB Stuttgart: Felix Brych referees the match, while Felix Zwayer works as VAR. It's the first time they work together in this constellation since the famous incident 2018.

  10. Willie Collum went off injured during his Scottish Premiership match today. Might affect any potential European appointments

  11. Crazy Croatian derby Rijeka-Dinamo, both from football and refereeing perspective! Igor Pajač was the referee.

3-3 in the end, 2 pks (one after OFR), one goal annuled after OFR (for a previous foul literally in front of Pajač). Great, but also controversial game, I will try to upload crucial moments at some point.
