  4. Katalin Kulcsár will work as main VAR in Club Brugge - Lugano.
She should be second woman after Frappart in this role in UEFA Men's games, I think, while we saw very often women as AVARs.

  5. Good advantage by Xhaja before PAOK equalizer.

  6. Very soft and important (2:0 goal) penalty to Legia awarded with some delay by De Burgos. VAR supported. IMO, wrong decision.

    1. IMO very soft, I prefer no penalty. The delay in making the decision creates even more doubts

    2. For me very soft, but not clear enough for an intervention.

  7. Correct penalty by Schroeder to Fiorentina:

Very long VAR check. The best angle for assessing it is not in the video.

    1. Please Chefren, what is correct there? Is there a touch? If there is it is minimum of minimum! From the other angle you could see that the keeper touch the ball first and then maybe touched the foot of Fiorentina player. Might be. But for example in Leipzieg-Crvena zvezda, the defender played the ball and fouled attacker with power 50 times stronger that in Fiorentina's case (I don't exaggerate). After the VAR the ref annuled penalty because defender first played the ball. Here, GK played the ball, but VAR remained silence (would it be in opposite case? I strongly doubt). The problem is that UEFA non stop change the rules of penalties, handballs etc. that NO ONE HERE KNOWS IS SOMETHING PENALTY OR NOT! Even refs are confused, VAR refs are confused, they don't know anymore what is now law, and what is not law anymore! This is so weird and wrong and has no sense at all. One year some situation is penalty, another year it is not anymore! How it is possible? It's crazy.

    2. Sry, for me no doubt, clear penalty.

  8. Unusual situation in Plzen, there was a problem with communication system so Sidiropulos stopped the game for his AR to have earpones changed. Few minutes break but now the game continued.

Otherwise a solid performance, correct pk for handball in the 1H whistled.

    2. Now very bad Sidiropoulos. First a pk appeal, then phantom handball whistled as a pk, cancelled after OFR. The first situation was not rewatched, which made Dinamo Zg furious.

    1. An evident mistake by Albanian referee.
Correct VAR intervention to remove the penalty.

Maybe a missed red card by Kulbakov and the VAR team, the same Genk player scored the equalizer after the situation - Kulbakov didn't allowed the sub after the injury (which seem serious, I saw Samy after the match...).

  11. '69 very poor refereeing in Helsinki from Gaillouste. Phantom foul which he whistled before the ball was in the goal, and HJK goal was disallowed.

    1. The free kick itself was clearly wrong, maybe he somehow got that information and wanted to react by immediately stopping the attack...

    2. For a referee used to VAR, French league, incredible to whistle in that exact moment.

  12. Wrongly awarded corner kick led to Aston Villa's equalizer:

    1. Even more interesting to read the interviews after the game. Villa players are saying they were apologized for getting their first goal disallowed after 3 minutes.
To me it seemed absolutely correct to cancel the goal, would be weird if the officials would apologize for that.
Waiting for the AZ players reaction as they should have got the apology for this blatant cornet/goal-kick mistake.

    2. The first goal being disallowed is actually a quite excellent call by the VAR.

    3. Very often wrong corner kick decision is minor thing, but in this case important mistake to give a corner after this clear last touch by attacker. Then, you must be lucky that nothing happens later...

      Delete
    4. Yes, why would you apologize after a good decision?

And it is even more strange that he did not apologize to AZ players after rewarding the wrong corner…

      @Theref:
Based on interviews after the game, the referee said to AZ players: ‘I can’t see anything’. Well, an apologize and admitting it was wrong corner would be better there (and also preferred by the players).

To me, at least a strange impression. And I hate to use these wordings, but ‘biased’ actually crossed my mind, because he did not apologize.

  13. The disallowed first goal for Aston Villa.
    Good intervention by the VAR.

    1. Indeed correct, ball returned to player who had kicked corner, he was offside.
