  1. OT:

Not watching match, but I'm reading that Tierney is not having good perfotmance in FA Cup Final.

Missed penalty for United, then being called for OFR.

Also, missed clear yellows to Fred and Casemiro, dangerous fouls.

Anyone watching, is tha lt the case?

    1. Quite poor so far, I think it was not punishable handball, Grealish and Bissaka was in the air, it was natural movement for me and in Bein the pundits said there was 50 seconds already before David Coote called Tierney, there could indicate that it was not clear and obvious error, David Coote was in pressure to gave it. And then ghost YC for Bissaka deep in additional time.

    2. He's not had many decisions to make but there have been issues.
The missed penalty given after OFR is understandable as it was a handball that was from short distance and lightly touched the hand, but a clear penalty.
There was also another possible penalty shortly after for City with Fred tackling De Bruyne, but not enough to be VAR stuff.
The Casemiro foul- he was actually given the free kick after he went over as if he was fouled, but it was a dark yellow and clearly a foul by Casemiro, (studs over the ball around ankle). It was by the 4O so I would have expected better support.
Finally, a YC given at the end of the half for repeated infringement for something that probably wasn't a foul.
It's not been terrible but also not great so far for Tierney

    3. The handball was a hand in the air, away from the body, above head height. In law, no question a penalty, although many may suggest they don't like them given

    4. For me simply terrible, because like you said he's not had many decisions to make but he had 3 crucial mistake, missed penalty, wrong YC to Bissaka, no card and wrong decision against Akanji.

    5. interesting to see facial expression from Webb :))

    6. Calmer second half. How that yellow was given for persistant fouling in the first half and Fred got away with so many, much stronger fouls before finally being booked is beyond me, but the second half was more of expected level

    7. A ref saved by an OFR, with some missed YC. Today is a poor performance. Noted…

  2. In the 2023-2024 season, 10 new referees (5 head referees and 5 assistant referees) will be allowed to make their debut in professional football in Belgium.

    Referees
Arne De Beuckelaer - 24 years old
Hannes de Couvreur - 26 years old
Tim De Keyzer - 26 years old
Massimiliano Ledda - 26 years old
Dunken Van De Velde - 23 years old

    Assistant Referees
Julien Biron - 27 years old
Wout Bonhomme - 27 years old
Wouter Kochet - 29 years old
Andy Denuit - 27 years old
Ben Gonnissen - 29 years old

A very important step to ensure the future in Belgium at national and international level.

    Good luck

  3. So much for this page being the conversation for the 2023 UEFA Women's Champions League Final.
With that being the case. I'll save my time and not post my impressions of the referee crews performance.
Might as well change the headline since its been hijacked to talk about a non relevant match and topic.

    1. The post had to be opened, then it's up to people.
In these days there are discussions about Women's World Cup television rights, still not sold to most of the "big football" countries. Well, I think that no comments about Women's CL final in this topic is another signal of that, and Infantino should take note...

    2. @arbiter It has also not helped having this game at the same time as the FA Cup final, involving two teams with huge global reach. I would have liked to have watched the UWCL final but unlike the three mens finals, it was at a time with many conflicting matches. We also see a regular range of comments on many topics concerning refereeing on the most recent post and I'd suggest as everyone does it many folk like that! Likewise, I'm sure many would appreciate if you did have remarks on Foster's team that you shared them for those not watching that match to understand how they performed!

  4. The situation about Italian fans and Taylor is extremely dangerous.
I need to write a public statement, also involving UEFA, if they read.
Many people are sending private messages (they think we are UEFA or Taylor) with death threats. I never experienced something like that in years and years of blogging, that's very sad. You can read a hate in their words, that they don't seem to be human people.

    2. Publish them, report them to the authorities. Enough is enough!

  5. It's really strange that Frappart wasn't a CL final referee, specially recently, when french teams didn't qualify for finals..

    1. Not at all. She didn't officiate any group stage match or quarter-/semifinal match in WCL during this season.

  6. There is no authority on the field in COL-ITA, shouting, failed yellow cards, fights and Falahi becoming one of the worst referees in the competition, terrible

    1. I guess that he only got this game because of the lobby of Hani Taleb Ballan in FIFA.

Btw with the unexpected Israeli victory against Brazil, it won't be possible to appoint a UEFA referee in SFs without breaking confederal neutrality. I definitely expect a Conmebol referee (Falcón/Maza/Abatti) in the game between Italy & the winner of KORNGA.

The other SF will probably be for a referee from the confederation who 'loses' USAURU. If it's Israel vs Uruguay, I think it will be Ortiz, in case of Israel vs USA, another Conmebol referee.

    2. Exactly, Falahi being benefited by his nationality... Nothing new

In the ITA-NIG/KOR bracket I would put Ortiz and in the case of a USA - Israel I would give it to Abatti, but if there is a Uruguay - Israel I put Ortiz in this bracket and Abatti in the other, I only give them the " lap" :)

And for third place Marouf (EGY) and I suppose Nyberg for the final, if ITA arrives the neutral rule is broken
