  1. Very good game for Srđan Jovanović as well, with a quite important observer.

    1. I agree, what a match... I'm really surprised.
İstanbul Başakşehir is new wave from Turkey, with so many experianced players as Arda Turan, Adebayor,Clichy,Inler...
+ hot atmposphere Turkish fans always make

On the other side, Burnley is classic English representative, with physical style of play.

      Good luck!

    2. I would expect a better observer.

Mr Pereira has made quite a mess in Greece as Head of Refereeing.

  2. What a quick recovery of Ionuț Marius Avram after what looked like a serious injury. He already handled a game in Romania, eleven days after being lifted on a stretcher during the Budapest Honvéd FC (HUN) vs FK Rabotnički (MKD) game.

  3. Mohammed Al-Hakim (Arabic: محمد الحكيم‎; born 15 April 1985) is a Swedish-Iraqi football referee. Born in Iraq, Al-Hakim moved to Sweden with his family when he was eight years old and settled in Köping, where he still resides.

He became a professional referee in 2008 and has been an Allsvenskan referee since 2012. Al-Hakim has refereed 95 matches in Allsvenskan and 39 matches in Superettan as of January 2017. In 2015, he also became a FIFA referee.

Al-Hakim received much praise from both football pundits and supporters during his officiating in the 2015 season. After the season, he was selected as "Referee of the year" by the Svenska Fotbollförbundet and received a prize at the annual Fotbollsgalan.[4] In August 2015, he was also noticed for his activities on social media, when he started a Facebook page where he openly answered questions regarding his own in-game-decisions. Al-Hakim later closed the profile, citing "lack of time" as the major cause.

Outside of football, he works part-time as an officer in the Swedish Armed Forces.

    1. There was a story about him, if I'm not wrong, he tried to open a site in which he directly wanted to explain his decisions taken on the pitch to fans, but this was stopped because it was forbidden by federation. I don't remember the story exactly, but in any case, it was something interesting.
Readers from Sweden will add more...

    2. He romeved it due to the publicity he didn’t have time to reply to all the questions. He is a good referee even though some ”misstakes” this year. But he most of the times admits his mistakes after match to media and explains what he saw and what hw did wrong.

  10. Busy first 30 minutes for Kevin Clancy at Aberdeen v Rangers in Steven Gerrard's first league game.

RC for VC to Rangers #20, presumably on the advice of the AR: https://streamable.com/35bff

Penalty to Rangers, looks a pull. Co-commentator saying RC but was it actually DOGSO? https://streamable.com/kc9zv

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. On the RC to #20, there's a bit of a kick out. For me, if you're going to give that offence, you need to have dealt with the defender (can't tell the number) who essentially body checked the player well off the ball, twice.

Video, the offence happens around 1:04 or so: https://streamable.com/35bff

      Delete
    2. On the penalty, it's a weird one for sure, and I'm not totally convinced the on RC suggestion.

Having said that, look about 1:01 -- should the play have been pulled back for an offside offence?

      Delete
  11. You're right about the defender, though you're not going to give a RC for the barging. You could give a DFK to the attacking team (+YC defender) while still sending off #20?

I didn't spot that earlier, #23 is in an offside from both the initial shot and then deflection. However the question is, does he become active before the "foul" is committed?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I believe that he does -- interfering with his opponents' abilities to play that ball cleanly and fairly by inserting himself into the fray.

  12. Rosetti also has separate to Gräfe. ¡Great iniquity!

  14. German Supercup on Saturday
    Eintracht Frankfurt - Bayern München
    Referee: Marco Fritz
    Assistants: Dominik Schaal, Marcel Pelgrim
    4th official: Martin Petersen
    VAR: Bastian Dankert
    AVAR: Rene Rohde

Surprising appointment, because Fritz already had the supercup in 2015. And with Dingert, Dankert and Siebert there were some good alternatives, who would have deserved it as well.

    2. With all the respect for English officials, it seems as another season is starting with the same appointments.
Atkinson, Dean, Scott, Marriner, Friend, Moss... they are too old. They should be appointed but not on every matchday. English officiating needs a change, new referees must be purposed on FIFA list, but it seems as under this point of view nothing will change. Young referees can't make experience if you appoints always the same names for all games, even the "minor" (in terms of standings and importance) ones.
I remember that there are only 7 English referees on FIFA list (now 6 with Atkinson retirement), the federation could have 10 names, like the other "major" European associations.
It is not the good direction, if you ask me.

    3. Yes Chefren, some federations have their feet on the gas, others on the brake.
And we will see the results in a few years' time

    4. Who first understand that the future is for young referees will have their UEFA lists full, the others will take the crumbs

  17. It seems as Roman Slyško has retired. No appointments for him so far in Slovakian Super Liga. Are there some readers from Slovakia who can confirm that?
In case, I think that Pavel Královec will have a full Czech team starting from this season...

    1. 73 male referees: all Elite and Category 1 referees should sum a total of 75. So, two referees, I guess from Category 1, missed the meeting: in any case I can ensure that all from the first two categories had been invited.

  20. Update: RFEF finally decided to try to use VAR in Spanish Supercup. It won't be easy because the match is on Sunday, a TV mobile unit must be brought to Tanger and also an on-field test in the stadium prior to the match must be done.

    1. In Italy VAR was not used one year ago when Super Cup was played at the beginning of the season, it was too early and the game was very important. I think that it would have been better to wait.

    2. According to MARCA, IFAB has given permission for VAR to be used in spanish Super Cup and Jesús Gil Manzano has been appointed as VAR, with his usual AR1, Ángel Nevado Rodríguez, appointed as AVAR.

    3. Officially confirmed by RFEF. So, the final appointment for Supercopa is:

      Referee: Carlos DEL CERRO GRANDE
      AR1: Juan Carlos YUSTE JIMÉNEZ
      AR2: Abraham ÁLVAREZ CANTÓN
      F0: Juan MARTÍNEZ MUNUERA

      RC is justified.

IMO this is a completely wrong decision, I don't know who decided to continue but I wouldn't do it when an AR gets hurt like this:

    6. Well, that's international refereeing... Unbelievable. In Germany, everything is clear: If the referee or an AR is attacked, the match will be suspended. And they did so at least twice in the last 8 years.

    9. The AR, Fredeik Klyver, got an 4-5 cm jack in his head acording to Stefan Johannesson. He thinks that maybe uefa decided and the Al-Hakim didn’t had anything to say about it. If there were a more experienced referee they maybe would have listened to him.
