So no Cakir, Mateu, Rocchi, Orsato for Nations League final? i wonder who has been chosen
ReplyDeleteHategan...
DeleteI mean Hategan instead of Cakir?
DeleteHategan directly in a final without VAR experience seems impossible. The other options with VAR experience in CL KO Stage are: Del Cerro, Zwayer, Marciniak and Skomina. Any of whose would be a surprise I think.
DeleteWe forget Danny Makkelie. Very possibke
DeleteNetherlands is in the semi-finals... so Kuipers and Makkelie (who also is at Women World Cup) are out.
DeleteMy final prediction is Undiano Mallenco.
DeleteTotaly forgot that
DeleteThis match is a very significant one. It's the first final in the history of this competition. While it is not a major tournament yet, maybe it becomes so in the future, so having the honor of being the referee of the first final is somehow important. Also, the appointment will show what UEFA expects of this competition. All first-tier Elite referees are excluded (Brych and Turpin are in the semifinals; Mateu, Çakir and Rocchi are in Qualifiers; Skomina will be in Qualifiers too as stated in his interview plus a second final in two weeks can be considered quite too much; Kuipers' national team is involved). Appointing second-tier names (Oliver, Hategan, Makkelie, del Cerro, etc) would make no sense (higher tier referees in SF than in final, also in terms of experience)… but for one name (who is actually in lower tiers): Undiano Mallenco. He is the second referee who has been FIFA listed for more years behind Kassai of the current referees in the Elite pool. But, while the hungarian has accomplished many things in the international level, Undiano has not, but he has kept himself in the Elite pool and been somehow consistent and undetected. This appointment would clearly be a reward for a usually reliable referee with a brilliant domestic career but a rather discrete one in UEFA. Besides, not having a spanish referee in these UCL/UEL finals also helps.
DeleteTL;DR: Undiano Mallenco is, IMO, the most logical option for Nations League final.
PS: the "tiers" are entirely my view. You might, of course, disagree with that.
UNDIANO confirmed
ReplyDeleteHappy to see Karasev back on the pitch; if I'm not wrong this is his first international appointment in 2019 after his injury.
ReplyDeleteKulbakov appointed just few days before his engagement in Euro U21, it should means that referees are not yet gathered all together in Italy.
Happy to see an Irish man appointed; Ireland, Northen Ireland, Belgium, Austria and Switzerland are not facing a brilliant age in term of refereeinig
Wait and see. There are still matches to come...
DeleteFrance - Korea Republic 07/06 women World Cup referee ?
ReplyDeleteFIFA media just announced it:
DeleteRef: Claudia UMPIERREZ (URU)
Asst Ref 1: Luciana MASCARANA (URU)
Asst Ref 2: Monica AMBOYA (ECU)
Forth Official: Melissa BORJAS (HON)
VAR: Mauro VIGLIANO (ARG)
Coincidence, that FIFA published a video about her (and not about others) earlier this year?:

Maybe an early favourite for the final ;)

ReplyDeleteOrsato gets very hot match.Hopefully there will be no scandals.
ReplyDeleteFor me is a strange refeee observer for Karasev. He is from Sweden, and his team is in the same group with Romania and Norway. They should change him. Istvan Kovacs told to a local tv, that he will have a game this Saturday, and then he will go in Italy for Euro Under 21. So, could be Croatia-Wales for him, or another match?

This is second Orsato's game in Montenegro and he did not stay in good memory to the fans there. Several years ago he referred Montenegro Austria(2 3). In that game he sent off Mirko Vucinic and Montenegro coach in about 30 seconds between or so. Both for protesting
ReplyDeleteSolid performance by Munukka. Nice to see the LotG - including Law 12 ;) - applied correctly. Correct pk for handball given, very alert (one exception in added time).
ReplyDeleteDo you know referee for friendly Slovakia - Jordan?
ReplyDeleteMusial - Borkowski, Wojcik (POL)- Marhefka (SVK)
DeleteSolid performance by Orsato in a game that got more competitive after the break. Some sloppy mistakes though, especially in the final minutes.
ReplyDeleteI read on twitter: "Alan Judge broke his wrist in the final minutes of tonight's game". What happened there?
ReplyDeleteAny info about Rocchi in Northern Macedonia - Poland?
ReplyDeleteHe was whistling rather more than less, many 'normal' fouls in a game that could have easily explode by allowing too much. Although some players (Lewandowski) were upset after some soft free kicks, the control was given. In my opinion, it was a good approach chosen by the Italian and good choice by the committee to appoint a top elite referee for this game.
DeleteFive yellow cards:
28' - 15 POL for persistent infringement (two incidents involving careless use of arm within thirty seconds or so)
41' - 5 POL for SPA by holding from behind
66' - 6 MKD for SPA by impeding progress with contact
85' - 6 MKD for SPA by holding
87' - 23 MKD for unsporting behaviour / provoking laying Polish player
Some problems with positioning when being too close to play forced him to turn back to the ball (52', 71')
He played some advantages without signaling it with hand gesture (64', 68').
The handball penalty incident (89') to be rewatched carefully. After one replay watched live, I had the feeling it was a short distance and hand was in quite natural position but slightly increasing the body surface. I will try to post a video soon.
The handball penalty incident

Thank you, about the possible handball I think that PLAY ON is surely supportable. Penalty, however, wouldn't have been a mistake.
DeleteVery good performance from Karasev in Norway-Romania, in a not too challenging match. Two crucial decisions however took by AR1 Averianov:
ReplyDeletehttps://youtu.be/zjEdZue3UrU?t=100 --- min 8' (possible wrong offside stopping a clear scoring opportunity for Norway)
https://youtu.be/zjEdZue3UrU?t=236 --- min 90'+2 (Romania's equalizer, very close call but looks ONside)
Highlights for Orsato (MNE - KVX):
