  1. Big game for Ardeleanu with committee member observing. Wow!

  2. There still would have been some Elite referees available (who btw were not appointed on MD1 as well): Kralovec, Aytekin, Kassai, Kuipers
Jug is one of the most experienced First Group referees with 12 CL matches during the last 6 seasons. IMO a quite normal appointment made for that game.

  3. Again Turkey-Iceland and again Marciniak.. Good Luck!!

  4. Nice to see that Marciniak made time to officiate a match in UEFA. He spends most of his time globetrotting the world selling his services to the highest bidder.

    1. And additionaly... he doesn't deserve elite IMO.

    2. How did he perform in this match?

Yes, in Spain promotion play-offs are officiated by 2nd Division referees as categories are very hermetic.

    1. That's great. It rewards the referees that have been doing the job during the season instead of having first division referees swoop down and take the games.

  8. 3 or did I miscount (Jorginho and two Bosnians)?

  9. 2? I only saw one at 70'. But agree, solid performance.

  10. With all the FIFA tournaments, I'm losing contact with UEFA... :D I hope that Marciniak had finally a good game in Iceland after the troubles in recent times. Any update about other games will be very appreciated, thank you!

    1. G. Sigurdsson played like a toy with Marciniak during the match. I think that's why Marciniak won't be one of UEFA's best referees (like Kuipers, Cakir). Turkish announcers say Marciniak may have bet. We saw the same theater with Marciniak 1.5 years ago. it's a real pity!

    2. Bad foul detection (not consistent), no standard for cards shown/not shown, poor man management. Also agree with "unknown" Sigurdsson should be a sportsman not an actor. Unfortunately Marciniak allowed unfair and disrespectful behaviours of Sigurdsson.

    3. @Ugur B I totally agree with you

  12. Offside?

  13. Yes. I had similar thoughts during the replays. One of the Italian attackers is standing in an offside position in the line of vision of the goalkeeper. There was even a replay (from behind the shooting player - maybe midfield low) where you can see a movement of the goalkeeper trying to look around the player in front of him. This is, by rule, a clear offside, though very difficult to detect on the field. With VAR, this should have been checked and solved correctly.

  14. Tohver is also appointed for u19 in Armenia!
