  1. I must admit, I don't understand why names like Kulbakov or Madden are on this list, I had thought UEFA would have wanted this EURO to be a chance for younger referees to gain some more experience and have their first larger tournament. Most of those chosen fall into that category at least.

    1. The thing is that there are not so many names to fulfill that condition. I can think on Agayev, as Massa and Siebert have been selected for U20 WC.

    2. Alejandro Hernández Hernández (1982) would come to mind, but yes. Since Gozübüyük and Madden have already been in the last edition, I would also mention Mažeika. For Dabanović I would be too soon I think.

    3. Do U21 Euro referees have to be at least on First Group?

Hernández Hernández is still on Second Group. And regarding international appointments, if there's a Spaniard referee with chances to be promoted to First in June, it's Martínez Munuera and not him.

    4. Slightly off-topic, but Hernández Hernández's performance yesterday in Sevilla's derby was not good enough. Yes, all crucial decisions supportable, but bad positioning (stopped a promising attack by the away team by touching the ball more than once, almost controlling it!) and lack of alertness (regarding specially goal kicks and corner kicks, with at least 3 wrong decisions, all against the same team, one of which produced the YC for dissent) that should not be seen in a FIFA referee, IMO.

    5. IMO, assessing Banega's challenge on Joaquín as reckless and not SFP was a crucial mistake for him.

    6. Hernandez Hernandez with a quite challenging match yesterday. Excellent management of players, control of the match and no VAR interventions were needed. To improve some positioning and a couple of wrong goal kicks. In derbys like this, small details no relevants. Good performance

M.Montero this morning also with a good performance with a dramatic ending. Expected level

Martínez Munuera... with a very poor performance this morning. Impossible to see in a FIFA referee IMO

    7. Yep, I think Martínez Munuera is having a good season so far but he had a nightmareous performance in Athletic-Rayo, 2 OFRs (missed PK for pushing and reviewing a wrong penalty) only in 1st half.

    8. Craig Pawson is for me the most surprising omission in this list after his CL debut this season.

    9. Howard Maxi, all these referees need to gain VAR experience--that is the point, from my perspective.

  2. Does anyone have some match highlights from Cüneyt Cakir in the game Besiktas vs. Basaksehir?

    1. Is there anything specific that you are looking for?
He was very good on this match.
You can watch highlights from here.

  3. Highlights from the Israel Premier League, Ashdod vs Sakhnin, referee: Orel Grinfeld (FIFA, 1st). Not the best evening for him.

    A few controversial episods:
02:35 - RC to №92. It looked like FK was awarded in his favour (hand gesture), but Grinfeld probably got an advice from AR1 (Hassan, FIFA) and changed his original desicion.

    03:45 - PK.

    04:28 - another PK.

    1. 02:35 for sure a difficult situation to assess, I think it is "more foul" by red player, considering also that blue slightly touched the ball, maybe Grinfeld was originally right but however I have still doubts.

03:45 Replay doesn't help, I don't see a clear contact there, but given the action I think the whistle is supportable, if you don't have the evidence of a clear mistake.

04:28 it looks like a clear penalty for me...

    2. The problem is that in UCL and EL they rotate same few referees all the time so I think therefore they have to give some more experienced referees matches like this, instead of giving some younger talented referees a chance.

  4. Busy weeks for Guida: U20 WC, EL final and U21 EURO

    1. Definitely too much for Guida, I think that another referee shoudl have been appointed there. Now he is already in Poland, on next days he will have to fly to Azerbaijan for EL final, then he will have to leave Poland I think before the end of the competition (15 June the final - 12 June the start of U21).
At least being the tournament in Italy he will be able to reach home in case of need without a too long travel.
I think that AIA wants Guida to specialize as the "new Irrati", but also on the field as next Category 1 referee.

  5. OT: U17 finals as expected, Eskas Espen. Full team: Eskas Espen, Riku Vihreavuori, Raimonds Tatrikis, Farrugia Cann Trustin.

  10. If you have a job or are doing an internship and need to rent a car, see if your company has a corporate account with a rental car agency. Some companies have special contracts with rental companies that allow employees to rent at reduced rates and avoid paying underage fees. See more here: under 21 rental car .
