  2. Mateu Lahoz task is to be 4th official at finals:)

  3. So it was not a coincidence that both Turpin and Undiano were trying the new kits in the picture we saw some days ago ;)
Excellent end for the Spanish with a major final, I think he couldn't ask more. Let's remember how much impressive has been his long time career, already Elite and appointed for World Cup almost 10 years ago. Meanwhile there was the rise of Velasco, the latter even retired, then Mateu came but Undiano still there :)
I want also to say that I don't remember in past a so busy period for Elite and Category 1 referees in both UEFA and FIFA. The management has been surely difficult. How many competitions! Now we have Alejandro José Hernández Hernández and Juan Martínez Munuera who had to leave Poland while Mateu Lahoz today busy in a game in Ukraine and then Fourth Official on Sunday...
Let's wait now for third place assignment.

  4. wow) Rosetti is observer for Mallenco`s match!!! He was even absent at UCL final as observer

  5. Rosetti observer for Undiano in his very last game, quite a nosense under a refereeing point of view, but this is for sure a great tribute by Roberto, they were both at 2010 WC in South Africa.
    Hategan with third place.

  6. Nice appointment for Hategan on the 3rd place match.

An excellent appointment for Undiano. Being a FIFA referee for 15 years is something remarkable. I always thought that he deserved a final but mostly due to the presence of a Spanish club, he was ruled out. At last, that final came on the year that he retires.

Congratulations on a long and admirable career.

  7. This will be a test for Hategan as VAR will be in use. No excuse again with regards to no VAR experience and well done to Mallenco
Surely Lahoz will get a final in the nearest future

    1. Right, I forgot to note that. First game in UEFA for an Elite referee without VAR in his country. Very important step.

    2. Skomina, Mazic, Kassai and Karasev used VAR in FIFA tournaments.

  8. And Sidiropoulos again 4th official :D . Surely it's some kind of record this year

    1. FIFA really has to make a "fourth official" badge for him! ;)

    2. Is Sidiropoulos going to get a match as first official in this round of European qualifiers? I agree with the rest that it is a joke an elite ref to be appointed only as reserve official. It is a bit disrespectful.

    3. Why is it disrespectful? It's the best possible appointment for him.

  9. I had some silent hope for Karasev. A Russian referee for Portugal-Netherlands would have been nice.

But of course, good appointment for Undiano Mallenco, who did no mayor European finals and was a bit downgraded after 2010, but who is of course a very stable referee.
Nice for Hategan too. The importance of the match an sich isn't much, but for him it is important of course.

    1. Karasev was impossible because tonight is in Oslo. By the way, this test for Hategan with VAR, could be a sign that he could be in Istanbul in august, for the Supercup. He was 4O last year.

  10. Great gesture from Rosetti !!! A sonorous appointment for a very good carrier. well deserved and warms congratulation to Undiano. But mainly my respect and approval to Rosetti; excellent humanity and relation ship

  11. Good appointment also for Fabbri as VAR, considering that he is just a 2nd category

    1. Interesting, for Italian readers, that Fabbri is ahead of Di Bello in terms of consideration there. Let's remember he attended the seminary for Women's World Cup VARs but then he was not called. So maybe something like a "consolation prize" for now. BTW both Di Bello and Fabbri didn't have a good season in serie A.

  12. Hategan blew his whistle about 10 times to be honest lol

    1. But he solved it well and calmed Kane and Xhaka down. Some minutes after, correct YC for a reckless tackle with some ball and much opponent touched

  13. Good Hațegan so far. Led the first heavier foul go (12'), now two correct YCs for fouls (23', 27').

  14. Clear difference in approach from FIFA And UEFA. Very clear stamp yellow carded but in FIFA warning would suffice

    1. Are you sure?
What about Brych the other day? FIFA style all the way in a UEFA match. So is it FIFA versus UEFA? Or is it referee's who follow the LoTG versus those who view the LoTG as optional?

  15. Like mentioned in other posts by other writers before, it‘s refreshing to see a fifa referee that gives YC in first half as well. Hategan gave 2 in first 25 minutes and both were excellent spots but I can imagine that not all referees nowadays would have given them. I very like Hategan so far!

  16. Very good performance in an easy match so far.

    1. Very clear YC missed for reckless challenge by Mbabu on Rose, confused on why he only warned the player after the advantage but other than that he has been an expected level

  17. VAR disallowed goal. Fully correct IMO clear pulling back from the goalscorer, well done referees

    2. I know. Irrespective they will feel bad because it has gone against them twice

  19. Now a VAR intervention and a correct disallowed goal for England.

  20. I don''t think so that this game is not important. Because there are four place to Euro 2020 from Nations League. The winner of the final have a place for Euro. I think UEFA need to know the podium of this finals, if those teams don't be in the first two place from standard groups.

  21. Maybe I need to rewatch the incident, but I'm not sure the disallowed goal was clear and obvious mistake... I'm not convinced.

    1. It was. Callum Wilson impeded his player by a clear pull if the arm. Once you see that there is no excuse whatsoever. Am so glad for Hategan for getting the much needed experience with VAR

  24. Undiano interferes with play quite alot I would have said he needs to improve on his positioning but it's his last game

    ReplyDelete
  25. Undiano made up his mind not to caution until the 88th minute which was mandatory

    ReplyDelete
  26. For sure not a linear and typical career path from Undiano Mallenco. He was selected very early for World Cup in 2010 (his AR2 at that time Yuste Gimenez was also with him again tonight). Then he lost committee's trust and saw Velasco and Mateu being preferred for any major tournament. Now he is back in a big final, as a reward for his long career and endless passion. Congratulations!
