    Based upon CAFonline, his name should be "Alioum Alioum". Why there was the wrong "Néant" for years is recorded, where the "Sidi" comes from I can't tell.

      Strange indeed. "Néant" is French meaning "not there" or "absent", which is perhaps the reason why he introduced himself as "Alioum" only in the 2014 WC presentation video. That thinking would mean that he doesn't have a first name, which would be strange anyway...

      Some years ago an interview was posted and he stated that his real name was Sidi. I don't remember more info and I couldn't find it again but trust me. It was when he explained that Néant was not his name :D

    1) Is VAR being used at the 2019 AFCON?
    2) Are referee fixed trios? Or will the CAF Ref Comm be mixing trios like CONCACAF is doing at the 2019 Gold Cup?

    I asked Alioum on Facebook, and he said his name is Alioum Alioum. He said it was a federation error that put justy one name on the FIFA system and then a Neant was created in the blank space, and that was corrected only years later. "Sidi" was something created by a website that never talked to him, so to this day he does not know why they created this fake name for him.

    Here is the report that you mentioned Chefren, note that there is no statement from Alioum about his name, there is only the statement of a member of the federation explaining the reason for the "Neant", but he never says that his name is Sidi, so the name was invented by the reporter, as Alioum himself said.

      34 fouls so far in Nigeria - Burundi, but according to some sites, in DR Congo - Uganda (I didn't watch the game) today Redouane Jiyed whistled 47 fouls (23-24) and this was for sure a record. He issued only 3 cards, so very likely a similar style to Camille.

      CAF is very strange, so it seems as they wanted to keep Otogo-Castane out from the tournament, but then they changed idea...
      Strange also about Grisha, it was reported that his suspension had been annulled following an appeal by Egyptian FA, and he would have been allowed to handle games at this tournament.
      But nothing so far...

    Grisha with a missed RC for SFP (only YC given, however it was second one and player was dismissed) following a penalty whistled to Senegal. Earlier, he had whistled another penalty to Senegal in first half, in this case I tink rather mistake (attacker looking for the contact, going deliberately against opponent to get it). I have also reports of a possible penalty to Senegal before all these incidents. Very challenging game. Let's wait for some highlights.       No penalty incidents included besides the two ones. First penalty fully correct for me. In case of play on VAR should intervene (but there is no VAR) as there was clear contact. Yes, he searched for the contact a bit but the defender put his leg out prior without playing the ball. Second penalty could have been straight RC but not a clear and obvious error.
