With my surprise, Rizzoli is not on this list. He was announced by AIA as new Italian UEFA observer, along with Damato (indeed, the latter is included). I will try to know more about that.
ReplyDeleteAlso, it seems as Italian association is the only one with observers who are never appointed (at least in recent times): Nicchi, Bazzoli and Braschi. With 8 observers, for sure Sweden can be proud as second country after Italy.
With 8 observers, Sweden
Are those official lists? Therr is Patrick Kelly on the list, earlier Alain Kelly publishd on his twitter that his father Patrick is ending his career as UEFA observer last season. I earlier said I think Dragutin Poljak (CRO) is not longer on the list, based on the lists published by Croatian football federation that is true, Poljak is no longer on UEFA's list. Mejuto Gonzalez is missing, that comes as a surprise since he was considered as really important observer.
DeleteMejuto González will be the new delegate of Getafe.
DeleteHe will represent club Getafe CF or he will be a match delegate from region of Getafe?
DeleteThe first one
DeleteIs Alan Snoddy reinstated by his organisation?
ReplyDeleteI am not sure but he is one of the most highly respected people in UEFA refereeing and incredibly his organisation appear not to support him. Now working as Referee Consultant in Latvia F F with success.

GOD BLESS YOU SIR
Hello chefren, concerning France, Stéphane Lannoy replaced Hervé Piccirillo on the list ;)
ReplyDeleteI don't think that Bazzoli, Braschi and Collina (form Italy) are in the Uefa observer list. On other hand Rizzoli and Damato have been officially announced.
ReplyDeleteGaetano Degabriele (Malta) not in the list anymore.
ReplyDeleteLeif Sundell has also retired from observing both internationally and domestically. A great guy.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your contributions, evidently the list is not still 100% updated for all countries.
ReplyDeleteInteresting to read that Iceland has six UEFA observers, more than for example England and the Netherlands.
ReplyDeleteIn Poland Borski observe only third league...
ReplyDeleteI can guess the reason...
DeleteIf I am not wrong, Messina is also observing Seria B. Question for Chefren since he is from Ialia :). Are UEFA observers appointed in Italian leagues, since I found nobody except Messina on observers lists? And it is quite strange that Messina is appointed for international matches but not for top Italian league. For example, in Croatia, observers are divided into four categories. Committee members and UEFA observers (only Svilokos and Vitkovic are classified as UEFA observers since Pristovnik, Kovacic and Vuckov are members of Commitee) and they observe First and Second Legaue. And there are two divided groups of observers, one observing First League, other Second League.
Deletefrom Italia sry ;)
DeleteAbout Messina, he was head of serie A referees until two seasons ago (before Rizzoli's appointment), after that he decided to become observer in serie B because he didn't want to influence the work of the new head. It was his personal choice, of course he could have joined serie A panel as observer, but he made this choice. I don't know him, but I think he is a very discreet person.
DeleteBazzoli was observer in serie A until 2017/18 season but then he had to retire from the list because he reached the maximum period allowed by rules. In past, he had been also serie A committee's member.
Stefano Braschi has been serie A referees head until 2014, now he doesn't have any active role.
Luciano Luci works for Ukrainian federation and he is not in Italy.
Marcello Nicchi is AIA president.
Matteo Trefoloni is head of serie D (fourth division) referees.
Trentalange is at the head of AIA technical department, with a special focus on LotG.
So, a answer to your question is that basically there can't be always the same observers in a panel, and so who already did that, are out. But then, also the fact that there are many committee in Italy if compared to other countries, for example Damato (I didn't mention him so far) has been just appointed as head of serie C (third division) referees.
There is a big variety of roles inside the association.
Thanks for the answer. So basicaly, roles are equaly distributed in Italyy if you are in some of the committees, you probably won't have any other duties. That is actually good thing, you have enough time to do your best on position you are appointed. Anybody could explain me the situation with observers in Germany, any other name than UEFA observers we all know? And is there any news on Stark, will he continue as VAR next season, all is off the list after the 'susspension' last season?
DeleteStark is not on the VAR list anymore. He does coaching now - responsible for the 3rd Division IIRC.
DeleteObservers in Germany are a big secret, no official lists and no public appointments.
Thank you Philipp S for your answer. Quite strange but also interesting situation with observers in Germany. I have no idea what would be a reason for such secrecy by DFB.
DeleteI believe Rodger Gifford reached 70 years and has retired from UEFA
ReplyDeleteI also believe this to be true. He has travelled to every country under the UEFA banner as an observer.
DeleteAs for the Czech observers, last year the new committee (chairman is former player) together with REF commitee member Damková kicked out Krondl last year and Ulrich this year and replaced them by "good old boys" Benes and Vidlak.
ReplyDeleteWhy Czech REFCOMM is so harsh against their referees? No protection, public criticism, demotions, broken careers, etc. Or do the refs actually perform so bad?
DeleteI guess Díaz Vega is out from Spain?
ReplyDeleteWhat's Observers?
