    1. I would exclude Visser from Porto - Leverkusen (Brugge in the same group)

    2. Right, that was a mistake. I'll swap him with Frankowski then.

    3. In Manchester City - Copenhagen, Velasco is appointed as observer. He already observed Pinheiro on MD1. So surely it will be another referee.

  4. Off-topic. Former FIFA Referee Kevin Stott will whistle his last MLS match tomorrow night in Los Angeles. This will conclude a 27-year career as an on-field official in the league that started in the inaugural season. He will have refereed 402 matches in the league, including playoffs. And had MLS Cup in 2001, 2005 and 2009. He also refereed the US Open Cup Final in 2000 and the first ever MLS All-Star Game in the inaugural 1996 season. Stott has participated as a referee in the playoffs for 26 consecutive seasons--the streak will only be broken this year because of the principle that a retiring referee should not work in the playoffs.

Internationally, Stott was a fourth official at WC06 and has worked both the U20 and U17 World Cups. He did numerous WCQs, Gold Cup matches, and CONCACAF club competitions. It's worth noting he has FIFA badge in 1996, when MLS launched, so internationally he was a contemporary of some high-level referees who have already retired from referee administration and a few who, unfortunately, have already passed away. His longevity is remarkable.

Counting VAR and Fourth Official appointments, Stott has had 595 total games. The league leader for a player, all-time, stands at 556. He has worked with 319 different match officials in his 27-year career.

Stott intends to continue his career for a few seasons as a VAR. I think I've said this before, but he has a mastery of VAR application that quite literally no one in the world has. Combine that skill with his teaching abilities (he is a teacher by profession) and I think FIFA and other bodies should look toward him for instruction.

Most importantly, he is a wonderful human being and an all-round good guy. No one who has met Kevin has ever had a bad word to say about him. Tomorrow will be the end of an on-field career that likely will never be replicated.

  5. OT:

Is the gap beetwen Oliver and Taylor in comparison to other English(and Aussie)refs so big,are they so far ahead of other refs that they are only refs that get big matches and English derbies?

Taylor since the start of the season had:
Chelsea-Tottenham, Everton-Liverpooland now he will be in charge of Arsenal-Tottenham.
    Oliver this season so far:
United-Liverpool,was appointed for City-Tottenham and now he is going to be in charge of Manchester derby.

    1. They're definitely the 2 most trusted I'd say than it seems like based on assignments this season you've got a group of Tierney Banks Hooper and Attwell that have gotten big matches. Tierney for example had United vs Arsenal and Hooper had Lecister Toremham and was gonna have Arsenal vs Everton

    2. They are both doing great job this season. I'm watching 1HT of Arsenal vs Totenham and i can say that Taylor this season in PL and Europe is by far ahead of other Referees. Excellent 1half with a penalty whistle for TOT.

    3. And now RC he has shown.

Correct, but in context of the game where he allowed too much maybe, surprising decision.

    4. Absolutely correct. No intention at all to play the ball. First card of the game a straight RC from Taylor.

    5. Correct RC, IMO. Contact with studs on the shin, then sliding down on the ankle, significant force. Fully correct SFP decision for me.

  6. Sidiropoulos has a game in Saudi Arabia on Sunday. AR will be Kostaras and Dimitriades. VAR will be Evaggelou.

  7. Another 'controversial' SFP RC in Ligue 1 (referee Éric Wattellier)

  8. For me this is 100% clear red card by Wattelier. Garibien and Lannoy would not accept anything else then red here I am sure. It does not make any difference that he aim to hit the ball. Hi hit they player clearly and it is red by the book. @ Chefren or @Mikael is there any chance to get some info how observers liked referee perormance from Nations League? Makkelies,Bastien,Osmers etc in last round mainly. WE used to have such info in past but do not see it anymore here.

  9. How is Sarabia's challenge not being looked for potential RC?

    Psg-Nice match.

I mean IMO clear RC ,but hey surprised ref even showed YC.

    1. This was clear RC for this year la liga standards set by Garibien. But problems with most refs this days is they goes after player reaction. Nice player Dante did not reacted at all and it was play on. And then in VAR you have very lenient referee Stinat who has no guts go over FIFA referee Brisard here. I hate that they have different rules from game to game, specially now when you have VAR.
