Difficult to judge whether UEFA RefCom treat these play-offs as important test for second category officials or not. With all due respect, not the biggest names as observers.
ReplyDeleteI also can't understand why Ciochirca got the U17 EURO nomination (and even handled the final, so it was a successful tournament for him) while it's Gishamer who is pushed now with Ciochirca getting only a U19 qualifying round mini-tournament... I have in mind Kruashvili who got the final of U21 EURO and was somehow forgotten / not pushed further. Similar treatment for the Austrian now.
I agree about what you said, both first and second argument.
DeleteRegarding the first, in my opinion committee doesn't consider such games as important tests, otherwise they would have assigned different observers.
The second point: with the new course of Rosetti, differently from Collina, the path of some referees after Youth Tournaments' finals is weird. It seems as the final assignment is the pinnacle and after that nothing follows, referees stop to be in focus and there are always different choices.
This is especially valid for Kruashvili (now maybe getting a few interesting assignments, but why not before?) and Ciochirca as well. There can be maybe different indications from national federations, but committee should always find a logic if you ask me.
I can't find the logic.
DeleteThey put Lukjančukas on T&M while they have already another Lithuanian young referee in Cat1 (Rumsas) with high talent and relatively good prospects (CL debut last season). And Lithuania can't have 2 referees in 1st Cat, since Mazeika was demoted to make room for Rumsas.
They promote Jorgji & Kruashvili to Cat1, only for a bit later focus on two young talents from the same countries:
-Xhaja gets many good summer qualifiers including one observed by FDB (Víkingur-Lech Poznań) and recently Nations League game with Garibian.
-Kikacheishvili gets selected for U19 Euro and has a quite good tournament refereeing a semifinal, now appointed for U21 Euro playoff despite not being on T&M.
-They select Ciochirca for U17 Euro and give him the final, then select another referee for T&M.
Maybe both Lukjancukas and Rumsas are good referees?
Delete:)
DeleteSorry to bother you. Can you remind who belong to the Uefa talent program ? Or can you post it on top right of web sire close to the list of categories? It's like a sub category
