  1. Another big game for Balakin, this time infront of Plautz. Big trust from UEFA, seems like they have something planned for him

    1. Also very particular treatment of Greek teams, probably UEFA don't want to risk anything after what happened to Raczkowski

    2. Good remark about Greek teams, indeed this should be the reason of the Elite assignments we are seeing in these rounds. Nevertheless, a game like Panathinaikos - Olympique Marseille was already challenging by itself. Surely less Olympiacos - Genk, but we all remember what happened in this stadium. Let's see which line committee will keep in appointing Greek teams in future.

  2. Could I ask, especially in Panathinaikos game (their long history in UCL maybe key factor for attract fans/ultras), will be the stadium open in full capacity? Since we know what happened recently in Greece.

    1. No way Kavanagh in focus, he’s really poor referee

    2. But the observer says that, at least for this game...

    3. Fortunately I think now ENG FA realized that they only have 2 big name referee at the moment and then the huge gap after Euro 2024 will be can’t covered it up if they didn’t work now :) so with Rocchi, De Bleeckere observed Gillett, Attwell, and now Kavanagh, they will have enough time to prepare referee for WC26 (hopefully Taylor will not retired till Euro24)

    4. Michael Oliver is 1985-born, and will be forty-five years old during WC2030. The biggest potential talent from England is Salisbury, imo (who can try to replicate Siebert's style). None of the others are really convincing.

  4. OT: Anyone know or can confirm what happened in FC Drita-Viktoria Plzen, in sofascore the additional time was 18’ and the game ended in 90+25’, with deciding late goal for away team and red card for the home team.

OT: Interesting VAR intervention in Arab Club Champions Cup
    Al Hilal - Wydad AC
Referee: Ali Sabah (45 y.o, Iraq)
VAR: I can't find, I hope someone can provide the referee appointment in this tournament with the VMOs too.

What do you think about the VAR intervention for handball, do you think if there's no handball VAR still intervene? IMO it's not clear and obvious error from the ref to call the foul before handball from the attacking players.

    3. On the situation: The handball surely is the clearer offense. Whether it is clearly wrong to give a foul there can be discussed, but it is at least rather wrong IMO, because the player plays the ball in a not too dangerous manner before the contact.
I think, it makes sense to do an OFR in this situation to sell the decision better, but not completely mandatory.
Three minutes until the OFR probably took away the positive acceptance effect though...

    4. Thinking a bit more about it: The handball before the goal is actually a factual decision, which doesn't require an OFR. With that in mind, I now think, that the OFR was rather wrong. The VAR could only have told the referee, it needs to be a direct free kick for the defenders because of the handball. But this wasn't neccessary, because it was a dFK anyway.

  9. It seems chance for Hategan to appear in Euro 2024 will only come from VMO slots, hopefully we will see full Romanian squad in Euro 2024.
