  1. AR changes for Taylor and Manzano or just vacation?

  2. Where is Kavanagh?

    1. Hopefully he won't be anywhere near an UEFA game anytime soon.

Worst English ref by a mile, and the bar is extremely low when it comes to PL refereeing. I remind you he was suspended for 10 rounds last PL season after the most blatant foul possible he missed in Brighton vs Villa: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_Tf9iWaKLc&t=105s

Also his last European game was in October 2022, so hopefully UEFA realized he's got zero talent and zero perspective for development.

    2. Come on, it's obvious that Kavanagh isn't future elite, but your comment is too harsh...

    3. I love Chris Kavanagh very very much, I appreciated him at the early stage when he was coming up, but since he became a FIFA referee, his performance dropped dramatically 😓🥹 I wish he comes back strong

  3. Anthony Taylor observed by Frank De Bleeckere ? Is that a demotion of the Belgian as observer ? Any other reason thinkable ?

    1. Support after Budapest.
De Bleeckere is known as a well-liked and supportive guy in UEFA.

    2. Taylor is a replacement for Kavanagh

    1. Thanks! :) nice overview

    2. Orsato is out from Serie A and B Md1, as well as his assistant referees, this cold mean he has a CL Play Off on next week (First Leg).

    3. @Chefren, I have a question. Is Orsato regularly off the weekend before international UCL games? In some countries it quite common to be off the weekend after UCL, not before. I don’t the Italian approach :)

      Other observations:
      - Zwayer a Friday game > game of reserve spot
      - Turpin, Soares Dias, Gil Manzano also seem to be off. Not sure what that means :))
      - Makkelie/Gozubuyuk on Sunday and KNVB released it before the 3rd rounds were played, so one of them must be planned for a return I think

    4. Sorry for the typo’s 🙂

*I don’t know the Italian approach
*Zwayer a 1st leg (or is reserve)

    5. The German appointments normally don't tell much regarding UEFA games except Sunday & Tuesday is avoided.
But Zwayer surely is logical for a CL play-off game.

    6. Yes, we’ve seen it regularly last season that top names were appointed on Friday and it turned out that they didn’t have a UCL game. Possibly a reserve spot…

A low profile game in second league is always a good indication for sth big though!

I don’t know about the Italian approach. I thought, most referees used to work in the weekend before UCL (with both AR’s), but could be off the weekend after international games to get some rest after the exhausting matchday, traveling, etc

    7. It is a particular treatment for Orsato, he is quite old, you know, and he must be fit, so when he has important assignments in Champions League, Rocchi rather avoids to give him a game only three or four days before. This was indeed not the same some years ago, but now there is the management of a referee who is 47 years old, close to 48... he had also several physical problems in past (in coincidence with his poor EURO 2020).

    8. Marciniak appointed to a Sunday game this weekend.

    9. The games in Greece (or Turkey) have Marciniak written all over it

  5. Fully correct early 2YC (in 16') for HJK player for a reckless stamp by Delajod.

    1. And now a PK for Qarabag before HT.

    2. Very strong performance by Delajod. Congrats

    3. First half was great, second 45 a total disaster. Free kick (and a dissent YC) for two players of the same team colliding? Unbelievable

  6. Very soft penalty by Genc Nuza in Nordsjaelland - FCSB. Deceived by the attacker.
