  1. This time no VAR appointments, interesting. Maybe committee wants to wait at least for today's games.
Vinčić with a quite good game for starting his EURO, Haţegan starts with a rather low-profile match (he should recover after the negative CL game) and I think that Siebert is OK for the game in Scotland.

  2. Ekberg and Siebert with the two lowest-profile matches of MD1 makes a lot of sense. Could be their only match, but if they perform well and others "disqualify" themselves for a second match, there could come more.
Normal match for Hategan, but one less experienced option for the next top games.
Good appointment for Vincic, next indication, how much UEFA likes him at the moment.

  3. Crikey, my predictions a virtually all wrong ha!
Game for Siebert is a good choice, Vinic with a decent start and yes Hategan with a low profile match - saving him for a bigger game later?

  4. So Del Grande, Cakir, Grinfeeld & Oliver (Soares Dias I would expect unable to officiate in this group) the names for the last 2 games in MD1 without participation in a match so far.
Probably wrong, Del Grande & Cakir with Oliver & Grinfeeld as 4th Officials would be a logical bet!

  5. Sorry, should have put them in one post - or save them for MD2 giving more rest days to the earlier officials
    FIN v RUS - Grinfeeld
    TUR v WAL - Rappalini
ITA v SWI - Soares Dias

  6. Interesting thing about these three refereeing teams.
If EURO was not postponed to 2021 Skomina would probably go to EURO instead of Vincic, Sovre would be still in team Hategan, Siebert probably wouldn't be chosen before Zwayer or Stieler etc.
Some referees are very lucky that EURO is postponed 😉

    2. Do you think Skomina will go to any more major tournaments?

  7. I think this is a perfect game for Haţegan to kick off his EURO - non high-profile, but potentially rather challenging, and well suited to his way of refereeing.

Contrary to Manchester City - Borussia Dortmund, I think he is great form too - here is refereeing HL of his excellent performance in Cyprus's Cup final:

    1. I expect high on Hațegan too. He seems to be in great form.

    2. Exactly, Mikael! I observed that Ovidiu likes the games involving weak/average teams that commits many fouls. It's exactly how the Romanian league look like. Slavia - Rangers and final of Cypriot Cup were brilliantly handled by him! I would award him very high marks for those games!

  10. Good appointments, though I'd also have liked Makkelie for Scotland - Czech Republic with Blom as the VAR. Would have been a nice redemption for Blom.

Btw, the name 'Sibert' is misspelled. :)
