  1. I thought Lahoz had retired? Can someone clear this up for me please

    1. He didn't. Or there will be no referee. ;)

    2. The news abvout his retirement were false. We discussed the question on the blog as well. It wasn't anything coming from him directly.

  2. So the referees without a PO appointment are:

    Del Cerro
    Turpin
    Taylor
    Orsato
    Vincic
    Grinfeld
    Karasev

Karasev or Grinfeld without an appointment?

    1. Don't you dare to forget Skomina😉

      Delete
    2. Karasev already had Super Cup.

      2nd LEG PREDICTIONS:

      Ferencvaros-Young Boys: Vincic [Dankert]
      Ludogorets-Malmoe: Turpin [Letexier]
      PSV-Benfica: Orsato [Irrati]
      Shakhtar-Monaco: Taylor [Attwell]
GNK Dinamo-Sheriff: Del Cerro [Martinez Munuera]
      Brondby-Salzburg: Zwayer [Dingert]

    3. Del Cerro cancelled his appointment in third round, maybe an injury so he will miss the play off?
Karasev had supercup but that is not the reason not to appoint him to play off, for me it is even more reason to appoint him in play off.
There is no sense in appointing Skomina in CL playoff after almost a year long pause due to to injury, EL match would be more appropriate for his come back.

    4. Is Skomina already recovered from his injury? Any news from Slovenia?

    5. @Referee 12 it was reported on the blog that Del Cerro appointment was annulled as precaution because he had been in contact with a person who had COVID. So I think he should be now avilable for a play off, the needed time has passed.

    6. I was wondering the same, also because Mateu has the usual VARs of del Cerro. But with this information, he should indeed be ready for the 2nd leg.

      Therefore my prediction:
      Ferencvaros-Young Boys: Vincic [Gil]
      Ludogorets-Malmoe: Karasev [Meshkov]
      PSV-Benfica: Orsato [Irrati]
      Shakhtar-Monaco: Taylor [Attwell]
      GNK Dinamo-Sheriff: Turpin [Letexier]
      Brondby-Salzburg: del Cerro Grande [Martinez]

    7. Philipp, Mateu with another VAR because Hernández Hernández is busy with a Conference League Play Off.

    8. @Chefren Tnx for the info on Del Cerro, I missed this information. Then it seems like Grinfeeld could miss the play off.

  3. OT, I observed last penalty from Euro final from different angle. After that, I saw Del Cerro running so fast, why he do that?

  4. On the other hand referee abroad announced that Brych had retired?

    1. Brych will retire from FIFA list at the end of 2021, then he will continue in Germany until the age limit of 47.
All other infos are wrong and Brych was very clear about that.

  5. Sascha Stegemann will handle the german Supercup today between Dortmund and Bayern

  6. Who is the delegate and the referee observer for UECL St Johnstone v Lask?

    1. Did you mean for second leg in Scotland?
First leg appointment is posted in the related discussion.
About second leg, I still didn't get delegate, observer will be Darko Ceferin (SVN).

    2. Yes, that what I was talking about. Is that you?:)

  7. Hot minutes for Collum, challenging game, a player from Young Boys could have already got a second YC, the Scottish now must control the game.
    Let's see the next minutes.

  8. #14 Ferencvaros with a very clear YC as well... dark yellow.

  9. Now penalty and RC for DOGSO, holding, not a genuine attempt to play ball. It can be discussed due to the presence of another defender coming close to opponent, but I think VAR should confirm. Very chaotic minutes with many cards in a row, also for protest. Collum is in trouble regarding control in my opinion, even after the penalty everything happened.

  10. The penalty goal rightly canceled? Why

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The goal was scored after the missed penalty, attacker had entered the box before the shot, indirect free kick to defending team due to encroachment.

      Delete
    2. But the defender encroached as well!!! Encroachment of both sides is penalty to be retaken……

      Delete
    3. Encroachment is judged by the position of the feet so the defender didn't encroach...

      Delete
    4. I can accept the decision based on the LotG, but I've seen many penalty kicks validated after the attacker runned a meter (or more) into the penalty area.

      Delete
    5. VAR won't get involved if the encroachment doesn't have an effect on the game - in this case the player who encroached scored the rebound from the penalty!

  11. Same old story with Collum. I have never seen a great match refereed by him in Champions League but at the end he is always there. And Hategan is refeering EL playoffs tonight...

    1. What I can point out so far is that regarding decisions it can be OK, but he has to find a way to manage and control the game, definitely!

    1. PK and YC would be a better decision, IMO.

    2. In the sense of assessing 'real DOGSOs', in the idea that Barzagli vs. Mexico at CC 2013 is one, that's an excellent decision IMO. At the moment of the foul, he denies a clear chance at goal.

However, I doubt UEFA will agree - there are enough reasons for them to assess that this first half red card with a penalty could have been avoided.

They were happy with an even 'redder' offence than this, the penalty at the end of Çakır's HUNPOR at the EURO, being yellow. Would be interested if this arrives on the RefNetwork. :)

    3. Agree with Forlan, PK and YC would have been better choice

      Delete
    4. Hmm, in my view it's a RC offence.
In the moment of the holding infringement the attacker could have produced a serious scoring opportunity.
In the wider picture, this sending-off looks 'wierd' (especially for non-refereeing fans) because of the defender nearby - I therefore think that UEFA would be happier with a YC here.
But, IMO, it's a brave and correct decision by Collum who identified the closeness of the attacker to the goal correctly.

  14. 2 soft YC by Brych in last few minutes + YC to Benfica coach -> very alert style and an attempt to prevent loosing control. Otherwise no problems in a very interesting match, except for 2 dubious offside calls by AR2 (not crucial and both with delay).

    1. Very consistent and alert Brych tonight. He didn't take the back seat like sometimes in the past. His line was strict and clear for everyone. Well done! (However I still very much dislike his style of walking and shouting ;))

    2. I agree with Euro Soccer Ref. Brych was very alert and used his cards efficiently. But towards the end of the match he became angry which was visible on his body language. The important thing is that he maintaned control on a challenging match.

AR1 correctly disallowed a PSV goal for offside. AR2 with 2 mistakes on offside calls.

    1. RC no doubt - high intensity challenge, hitting point above the ankle, defender's leg locked...

      Delete
    2. RC for SFP needed here IMO.
The player endangers the health of his opponent significantly, as he hits him with high intensity and open studs on/above the ankle..
VAR intervention necassary for me, but UEFA could disagree with me.

      Delete
    3. I think VAR should intervene here, RC.
