  1. Looking at 1st leg results, Tohver, Kabakov and Meler will have almost sentenced 2nd leg matches.

  2. Another second appointment for an English team. Pawson and Oliver with 1st and 2nd leg appointments.

  3. Strange Appointments for Madden who had a UCL 3rd round qualifiers not long ago and is here on the Conference league!! While Seibert Daniel has really not got a top appointment after his Euros Exploit. Maybe this qualifies really should not be read into so much as important because William Collum was havenig UEL 3rd round the other day while his compatriot had the UCL equivalent but now Collum had a UCL playoff while Madden is in the UECL Playoff

  4. Question: Harald Lechner, don’t know much about him, never seen him referee, is he respected and got much chance of promotion or progress to CL.

  5. How Peter Kjærsgaard keeps on getting appointments internationally is beyond me. Man is in absolute shambles domestically..

    1. Remarkable from Austrian point of view: All FIFA referees were busy - apart from our number 2, Manuel Schüttengruber who handled Rapid Wien - TSV Hartberg on 24/07/2021 in our "Bundesliga" and was appointed as VAR since then every week there. Maybe he also missed this UEFA season's start due to an injury.

    2. Wow, really interesting and detailed, thanks a lot!

    3. Great and very interesting statistic; thank you so much Jakubek; during the previous years I've always collected a data base with all Uefa appointment; this year unfortunately i didn't get time to do it. Does El mean Europe League and ECL Europe Conference League?

      Delete
    4. Exactly, for example EL1r is Europa League First Qualifying Round, ECL PO is Europa Conference League Play-Offs.

    5. jakubek, big thank you! this is excellent stuff :-) now with new ecl we might see the one or other "no-name" as many referees will be busy.
does anyone know if europa-league is played with var?

  8. Rumsas with 12 YCs including a 2YC for Hapoel in 45' and a PK for Anorthosis (decisive for the outcome)

    1. Definitely the match to be watched!
I would add, the cards were shown most of the times to at least one player from both teams together, so this should mean that there were many conflicts and an absolutely tense game.
We will manage to know more...

    2. Uefa website even counts 16 YC’s!!

      Delete
    3. Watched a whole match. The key decisions (2YC to HBS #14 and the PK) were absolutely right, but the ref was never really accepted by the players. There were two massive conftontations (in the first half and after the final whistle), and after first one Rumsas forgot(?) to book HBS #18 who pushed his opponent and actually provoked him.

  9. Good match for Harald Lechner, first time I see him and even switched on to give 92 min penalty. Very impressed

  10. I watched the Shamrock Rovers match. Very good performance by Bognar. Totally under control game. He completely left in the background. Good cautions. Good offsides by AR1. Good luck for him in the group stage. Maybe in the european league because if I'm right in Hungary they start use the VAR system from this season.

I must say all the decisions taken by Rumsas in this video are absolutely correct, with a special remark for the very decisive penalty, an excellent spot by referee. Punishable arm position, shot on goal.

  12. I watched Boiko last night and I was really impressed.

Very calm, always in control. Managed the players really well using small talk and gestures and when needed, his cards. All the cautions were spot-on (6).

He started the match by whistling many fouls at the beginning but adapted really well after the 30'.

  13. Highlights: FCK 5-0 Sivasspor - Lawrence Visser(BEL)
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JRs7yWKr8sw

In minute 23 (1:39 video) Sivasspor loses the ball and the opponent wants to run away with the ball.

The Sivasspor player makes a mistake and gets a yellow card from Lawrence Visser. The Copenhagen players would have preferred a different map (given that they were all around the referee).

I agree with Lawrence Visser's decision because there was another player with the player who made the mistake and there is 1 more player closer to the goalkeeper.

What do you think of the decision?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I certainly think that it should be a RC. There is no defender nearby, the only defender closer to the GK is on the other side of the FoP.
The problem is the distance to the goal and the defender shortly behind - I therefore think you can support
