Yesterday Haaland (DOR) scored winning goal in min 90+1.

Looking to 0:52 and 2:01 of the footage, what's your opinion.
Haaland involved himself immediately into the play action (runned towards the ball) from offside position.
The ref also doubted and spoke to Haaland and two opponents from Hoffenheim.
A 'smell' of offside or not at all?
What an excellent decision to eject Xhaka by Martin Atkinson in Manchester City vs. Arsenal this afternoon, well done.
ReplyDeleteI agree, very good decision! What is your opinion about a potential foul before the 2:0, Mikael? Replays weren't very conclusive but I think it could have been a foul.
DeleteI wonder if he received advice from his assistant as he initially pulls out the yellow before switching to red.
Delete@Dominik - it was a classic reckless striking foul (broadcaster here showed some closer replays at HT).
DeleteIt is the same discussion as the foul before the goal in the Wolves vs Manchester United game yesterday: in almost all other countries - let's say TUR, ITA, CRO eg. - as VAR you have no option but to disallow the goal (scandal).
However, 'our' understanding of how to assess refereeing incidents is quite different here. Chris Foy's article in the Daily Mail can basically be taken as PGMOL writ so at least the non-intervention on Saturday afternoon was assessed as correct.
The scene from yesterday is more interesting - I didn't watch the game at all, but apparently Sky here stated that the goal probably should have been disallowed.
It is so obvious that PGMOL realllyyy care about what the broadcasters think, but in the end they will probably find some reason to assess the non-intervention as correct I'd say.
Thank you for the great reply!
DeleteI'm German, so I don't watch every single match but from what I can tell there is huuuuge controversy after pretty much every VAR intervention(or non-intervention) and that really shouldn't be the case...
I just don't understand why VAR doesn't get involved in situations like that striking foul.
What do you think is the reason we have decisions like that pretty much every single week? Is it what PGMOL expects and think is the right decision, is it what they think the media expects or is it even some quality problem in terms of the referees? I'm really curious.
Who will referee Egypt vs Angola in wc qualifications ?
ReplyDeleteVery good use of VAR in Newcastle V Southampton. 96 minute penalty awarded, finally England starting to make sensible decisions with VAR.
ReplyDeletePk + RC in Chelsea-Liverpool after OFR, Anthony Taylor was the referee.
ReplyDeletehttps://www.clippituser.tv/c/nmpexg
I really have the problem with the way this OFR was done, Taylor basically saw stopped frame for 2 seconds and made his decision. If the game is already stopped and the referee goes to see the incident, wouldnt it be normal to at least see the situation once at real speed + slow motion/stopped? In this particular situation it could be important that the ball hit the arm after blocking with the leg, therefore it should be necessary to see those few seconds.
Correct penalty but Ridiculous use of OFR and ridiculous RC
DeleteIf we punish the handball offense it is mandatory to issue the RC as he is saving a goal scoring opportunity on the goal line
DeleteI think the circumstance should be divided into deliberate and not deliberate handball. The ball hit the arm after touching the leg. Penalty for sure, but no RC for me.
DeleteIMO everything went well here. Taylor saw one replay when walking to the screen. He immediately realized that the defender moved his arm actively towards the ball, so PK + RC is the correct outcome.
DeleteThe arm goes toward the ball from James, you can see the arm flick out after the contact. Even if the rules were to be divided into deliberate (RC) and not deliberate (YC) for DOGSO, this should be RC IMO.
DeleteSome sources: Peljto with Italian/Croatian VAR at Portugal-Ireland.
ReplyDeleteTomorrow Skomina will be in Izola for MNK Izola president election, He's one of the candidate. If he selected, his refereeing career will be over!
ReplyDeleteI can confirm this. If he is elected, he will have to stop refereeing because of conflict of interest.
DeleteDoes anybody know the appointments for the WC Qualifiers?
ReplyDeleteUEFA has not still released them. Once it will happen, you will find the appointments here.

The controversial episode from 1st Israeli league (from 0:15)

And another one at 01:27
DeleteThe ref (Liran Liany, ex-FIFA 1st) had a weak performance yesterday.
The first incident is very judgemental. The attacker plays the ball in such a manner that he immediately is no longer in control. Therefore, it depends on how the referee / VAR assesses the kick. Careless - play-on. Reckless - PK and YC.
DeleteIt's difficult to say something about the second incident. We can't see a good replay. There indeed is some elbow move.
