  1. Very interesting observers for Obrenovic and Pinheiro!

  2. Surprising to read Obrenovic after his weak performance in Riga last thursday with two missed red cards for SFP.

  3. News about Skomina's Instagram account ?

  4. It’s sad to see Vukan and Proptanik for other referees, does anyone have any update AT ALL on Skomina?

  5. Robert Kispal is Hungarian, not Ukrainian. BTW, was he ever a part of Kassai's team?

  6. Balakin for the second time this season. Not bad for him!

  7. Obrenović in Baku... oh God, plz nooo...

  8. Peljto isnt with standard crew Beljo amd Ibrisimbegovic. Lazic and Dujak are 3rd Bosnian duo by quality.

  9. I would expect to see Christofi to receive an appointment after 2 very good performances in 2nd and 3rd qualification rounds. Furthermore it was a pity not see him invited in Austria for the seminar.
Also Cyprus is placed on the 15th place in Uefa ranking instead of countries like Latvia,Lithuania,Slovenia,Finland etc. and for sure the Cypriot Super League is much more demanding than other countries.
I hope to see him on group stages as for me it looks a big potential and has nothing less than other referees

    1. Who is Christofi?

      Delete
    2. Also the VAR system in Cyprus should count in his favour. Indeed, I like him as a referee.

@Melker_Frod, Christofí is a Cypriot referee ranked in UEFA 2nd Category.

  10. It is odd that Peljto is without his usual assistants. It is not right, and from what I read Peljto's team is going through some serious trouble in their FA. I think only UEFA can help these guys

  11. Good match for Aranovskyi and Bognar for 2nd leg. Small teams (always hard for ref), big chance both club to participate in group stage. Good choice from ref co. specially Bognar.

  12. Little correction:
Jeroen Manschot is FO in Gozubuyuk's match, not Bas Nijhuis

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. That’s remarkable, Manschot did not pass the domestic fitness test and was replaced by Kevin Blom in the competition opener last Friday.

  13. Low profile match for Gozubuyuk after the not convincing performance in Vienna. He will not be happy with Conference League matches. Last weekend a disappointing (preparation)match with 2 interventions in the Dutch competition.

    1. I dont think Santa Clara-Partizan is low profile match, I think it will be a hot match (I hope our Serbian readers wont take me wrong since I am Croatian) but Zvezda's and Partizan's matches are usualy very hot matches and not easy. Furthermore, he will be observed by Fernandez Borbalan who I think is now one of the important observers. He was appointed to EURO matches after only two seasons as observer, before Fernandez Marin and Medina Cantalejo. Therefore I think rather important test for Gozubuyuk.

  14. What has happened to Espen Eskas? Final referee at the U17 EURO in 2019, where Balakin, Obrenovic, Robertson and Cann also were present, but all seem to have surpassed him in the UEFA hierarchy now.

Eskas and Steen showed promise and got some focus from the committee, but are today way down the pecking order. Is Norway the least-considered country (apart from the small countries with only 1/2 FIFA referees) in UEFA refereeing ATM? It seems like it, quite a downfall from the country of great referees like Pedersen, Hauge and Ovrebo.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Indeed, personally instead of asking "what has happened to Espen Eskas?" I would ask: "what has happened to Norwegian international refereeeing?". This federation seems to be fully disappeared from UEFA lists. Very sad because in past there were some big names!

    2. i think with the next covid-wave especially the scandinavian referees will not be seen very much due to very rigid travel-restrictions. but still i agree with chefren, there is no elite-potential at the moment. if i compare ekberg and siebert, i think it is clear why ekberg only got one match at the euros. still i wonder that moen retired so early from fifa-list? he is born in 79, so actually would be able to referee many more years. i know that after euro2016 he was kind of internally demoted and didnt get champions league matches anymore...

    3. @Grumpy, watch from 04:05:
      https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x4wdkfa

And that was just the start. On and off the pitch, actually UEFA had no choice - this man destroyed his own career.

    1. Constantly in way of play and doesn’t seem to know the rule about injured player not leaving field after yellow card

      Delete
  16. Also seems to have an odd style of constantly running at players after foul, almost seeming to make the incident seem worse and adds more tension

    ReplyDelete
  17. Seriously. Obrenovic is pushed more than he deserved at the moment.

  18. In 86' of Raków-Gent, YC given by Hernández Hernández to GNT25 for a very heavy and dangerous head-to-head clash with RCZ71. I think it's probably the best decision since I can't remember any head-to head-incident assessed as RC/SFP ever, but Raków player was completely KO and had to leave the FoP on a stretcher and almost unconscious.

    1. I can add that Alejandro Hernández was very lenient in the first half in which he forgave three yellow cards and let many physical duels go. Players accepted such approach in general. He lowered the threshold for yellow cards and free kicks being given in the second half though. That's why some free kicks at the end brought some protests (Odjidja-Ofoe GNT booked for dissent). What got my attention was excellent fitness and manoeuvrability.

  19. Very good Matej Jug. Fully under control.

    Replies
    1. I didn't watch the game, but according to some sites I can confirm what seems to be a very good performance by Jug, including a simulation and a handball before scoring well spotted.

      Delete
    2. Yes, both positions well spotted. Also his body language was sharp.

  20. Duje Strukan has a very hot match (3-3) with a correct decisive penalty in 90+3

Very much yc most of them for timewasting. 2 of 7 are too harsh. Especially for the goalkeeper without 1 warning

I hope to see him again soon

    1. What a bodylanguage and poker face at 90+3 in very demandanding situation. I haven't seen that in last time even from elite referees.

      Delete
    2. Nice to hear that considering that UEFA is obviously planning that Strukan will replace Bebek (in Croatia we still have age limit of 45 so I think next year will be last for Bebek on FIFA list, although I would not exclude if he retire at the end of this year).

      Delete
    3. Yeah, crazy match from pure football perspective. From what I read in live commentary, no major problems for Strukan. Glad to hear that, IMO he has a great potential, with good natural authority, elegant style and consistent foul detection.

      Delete
  21. Very solid performance by Brisard in Paok-Rijeka. One or two minor mistakes, but overall very concentrated and not affected by the home team players and fans. 3 pk appeals correctly rejected.

I think Gözübüyük missed clear penalty for Partizan (possible SFP).

  23. Your opinion on 2 fragments in the game Feyenoord - Elfsborg
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjm1zwj3_r4&ab_channel=Feyenoord

8:49 second yc for Elfsborg nr 7. Maybe straight RC?

9:42 Straight rc for Feyenoord goalkeeper. Harsh?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. SYC has to be a straight red IMO, the RC for the keeper is too, too harsh

      Delete
    2. Both are clear red card offences IMO. The first one was hard to spot from Pawson's insight angle.

      (@Unknown - really? https://imgur.com/a/Cf1zOGR )

      Delete
    3. IMO I doubt if it's even a foul. It's just unlucky. And when it's a foul, it's not clear DOGSO

      Delete
    4. IMO, second yellow card ELF player should be straight red card.
Red card for FEY goal keeper supportable. Without the action by FEY goalkeeper, the ELF attacker is alone towards the goal.

      Delete
    5. IMO
1 - Straight RC needed, SFP offence.
2 - I'm neither convinced by the foul itself, nor by the DOGSO decision. The goal keeper makes almost movement towards the player, but I can accept the FK call. The attacker is not moving centrally towards the goal, has no ball control in the moment of the infringement and two other defenders are nearby - I see not enough clearness for a sending-off.
