    1. Yes.. the stakes are high, no player wants to make a mistake in this stage.

    2. But is CRO waiting for another 30 minutes...?

    3. Its too calm that I can hear the sound boring of this england band

  2. He is allowing too much dissent from players especially from English players.

  3. Good match by Cüneyt Çakır so far.

  4. 90 mins, imo Cakir is good. World Cup standard - very good.

  5. England 2 subs left. Croatia 4 subs left.

  6. Quite dangerous tackle. Correct YC for Rebić.

    ReplyDelete
  7. About 50 minutes too late, but finally Rebic got his YC.

    1. You are right. But at the same time this is exactly what FIFA wants.

      Delete
    2. And yet Lovren who has done everything possible to "earn" a caution is still skating by cleanly.

  8. In any dangerous situations of aggressive dissent Cakir with good warning and communication. In that point he us still one of the best...

  9. Very good job by Mr.Cakir.

  10. How is his fitness? Is he tired?

  11. For me 1st half not more than (compared with his abilities bad) average, at least one missed mandatory YC Lovren and unusual problems with foul detection. But afterwards better. Very good and clear communication with only one exception of an unclear booking. Never lost full control. Very good positioning and body language. Disciplinary management not really consistent. Some minor mistakes by ARs. So far for me 8.2

    1. That booking was crystal clear for the people on the pitch.

    2. I disagree. He kept control, calm even in tense moments of the match. He promoted the game, advantages and ball time. Very well. For me 9.5

      Delete
    3. Obviously you don’t know how the observer system works. There is no possibility to get 9.5 from this match.

  12. Foul on that photographer, disgraceful! :-)

  13. Cakir better add on plenty of stoppage time for this Mandzukic injury / time wasting

  14. Restart after the goal was 2 minutes on its own

  15. 4 minutes in additional time is The first time that I see this

  16. Bye bye England and Milorad Mazic :) Lol

Hello Alireza Faghani, Nestor Pitana, or Sandro Meira Ricci

    2. You have something against Mazic?

    3. Disgusting? I'm happy for those 3 excellent candidates who will be considered for the Grand Final of the 2018 Russia FIFA World Cup. These three men are fully deserving and have proved it on the pitch match after match.

With that said, I believe that the time for the AFC has come. Alireza Faghani (Iran) for the Final.

    4. Or hello, best refin Russia: Kuipers? Just still to mention him. Sure not likely but Collina... who knows...
And about Mazic: Thanks for a great career to a great referee. Someone never putting himself in the middle, always trying to encourage players to act responsibly. A really big one leaving.

    5. Do I have something against Milorad Mazic? Must I have something against him for me not to be a fan if his style? I think not. Furthermore, I fully believe and it's my very own and personal opinion the three referee's that I listed have been better overall. So leave aside your national pride. Cheers!

    6. Sheriff, maybe Nestor Pitana would be in charge. Never know.

    7. Just to ask, where is Mažić leaving? :)
He'll keep refereeing for the next season, he is confirmed on the Serbian Superleague list

    8. *OT but I must respond

      Delete
    9. Serbian Superleague? Never heard of it, Lol ;)

    10. Man can learn something until he lives. I know that you are bad learner, Sheriff, but nevertheless.

    11. Now I don't have to say anything to you, your comment showed who you are.

    12. Sheriff please do not act like a 1 years old moron child. We respect your preferences, act accordingly.

    13. Nothing more "grown up" that resorting to name calling. Talk about childish behavior. I share my opinion and your nationalistic pride overcomes you all and you can't help but let your disappointment flow through your words.

    14. What a stupid comment Niko.

  17. Not a bad performance. I won't say anything about disciplinary control, that's FIFA's doings. But unusual for him were quite a few mistakes when it came to fouls/corner kicks. Expected level, I'd say.

    1. I'll rather call it good performance with room for improvement :)

    2. Yeah, a host of small errors for me. Good performance overall with some area for improvement though.

  18. Overall good, close to very good.

  19. Well done cakir some little mistakes,,but all critic desicions are perfect such a hot game

    ReplyDelete
  20. Noone will talk about Cakir - that‘s the most important thing. Overall there were some positive points (calmness, match control, preventive refereeing, fitness) and some improvable points (foul detection, disciplinary control, consistency) but no major mistakes that influenced the outcome of the game. I think we have seen better performances by Cakir, but that does not mean it was a bad performance today. 8,2 level in my view.

    1. Let me also say that second half and especially extra time was definitely better than first half.

  21. He was pretty good in the general game.

  22. 14 games in KO stage, waiting for the last two and only one VAR intervention to correct a decision: Sweden - Switzerland. However, this decision in case wouldn't have influenced the final score, a small correction in favor of the team who was already leading.
That's in any case, incredibile. One could still say: there weren't many controversial situations and the games were always played in a quite fair manner. True, but we don't have at the same time the contrary proof, so we must praise the officiating.
We can then discuss about missed card and all that stuff, but so far officiating in this World Cup, and especially KO stage, has kept a very high standard.
Last thing I want to say, however, it must be admitted that Brazil 2014 matches were by far more challenging for referees, and they couldn't rely on VAR behind...

    1. Totally agree, its nice to see the level of refereeing is very high in this tournament

      Delete
    2. Even without the good experiences and results with VAR we can be happy that the average of performances esp.of the refs from Africa and Asia was better than 2014. I think we never have seen a WC on that high level as this one!

      Delete
    3. I agree overall refereeing was the best ever with a few exceptions

      Delete
  23. And now the finals...?
I would prefer Ricci but he has been in charge of FRA once and of KRO 2 times yet. Is that possible, has it ever happened that a ref gets a team 3 times in a tournament?

    ReplyDelete

    1. First choice - Feghani
      Second Choice - Ricci

      Delete
    2. I think its finaly time for an asian (afc) referee to handle a world cup final, so faghani.

      Delete
  24. I hope Faghani gets the final. It could be Ricci but his games haven't been as difficult as Faghani's. In my opinion Faghani deserves it more.

  25. With a France v Croatia Final now anf Belgium eliminated it's really a pity to think that Björn Kuipers is not even in consideration for the Final but that's how life goes 😕 So coming to the business, I think now Final will go to either Faghani or Ricci... Outside choice may even be Pitana... For the 3rd place match I would want to see Diedhiou or maybe even Cesar Ramos, Mazic is also possible for the game... Let's see what the Committee decides!

    1. Soham,
Thanks for considering my countryman (Ramos) for the 3rd place game. But in my humble opinion, Malang deserves it more. As I believe that he's been better overall in the tournament. And I would like him to go out there and do a great job and take a step towards erasing that horrible memory that Djamel Haimoudi left in the 2014 3rd place game.

    2. Too bad Skomina has gone home otherwise he would have got a chance to officiate the match BEL:ENG again 😀😀

      Delete
    3. And this time around the teams might actually go out on to the pitch to try to win. :D

      Delete
    4. If I am asked to choose 1 name for both the games I'll pick Alireza Faghani for the Final and Malang Diedhiou for the 3rd place match... That satisfies performance principle as well as a smooth distribution of appointments in the later stages among all confederations!

      Delete
    5. Although I would personally have wanted Kuipers to referee France v Croatia... Unfortunately all wishes in life aren't fulfilled :(

      Delete
    6. Soham...since Kuipers may be retiring what are the best performances of his career in your opinion?

      Delete
    7. I don't totally exclude kuipers for the final. To be 4th in the sf is nothing. I vote him

      Delete
    8. Kuipers is my hope, after MM was eliminated tonight.

Ricci is the European who's not from Europe, according to my opinion THE perfect option for FIFA, for France - Croatia WC Final.

    9. @SpiritofTheGame Nice question this... There are countless excellent performances... In more recent times there is the Barcelona v Juventus UCL QF match of 2017... For me personally his 2014 UCL Final was probably most special, extremely challenging game and he did well... Then his Confederations Cup Final was a very good display... Before that in UCL there was Barcelona v PSG in 2013 and also Dortmund v Real Madrid in 2013... Barcelona v Milan in 2012 was also good performance... In 2014 World Cup England v Italy and Colombia v Uruguay stand for... There are several other games as well but these are some of his best performances IMO :)

  26. Congrats Cakir. It would have been better witha SF plus Final but I think It would be a very bold decision.

    ReplyDelete

  27. Very, very well Çakir.
Third place for Faghani. Final for Kuipers.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I really appreciated Cakir’s performance today again. Did he get every single situation perfectly right? Perhaps not, but he was incredibly consistent, punished time wasting early (yay!) and was always the calm referee that is needed in a crucial match such as this. I am very happy he was appointed for this.

    ReplyDelete
  29. This blog is becoming utterly ridiculous in the way people are criticising referees. Calm down, the referees are doing well.

    1. Better yet. You "calm down" and accept that others may have opinions that differ from yours. I know, shocking stuff.
      Cheers!

    2. Just ignore him Jackson, I agree.
By ignoring his bullshit you disarm him.

  30. Sorry guys ... poor performance by a refree not a england fan but sorry not to the standard.. same for the other semi-final... we have better refree in the pool that could officiate the semi... now its down to FIFA to give the best refree for the Final ..Farghani for final

  31. Best wishes for A.Faghani , final is expecting this incredible judge ,😚 with love from iran.
