You have to guess the exact referee for each game by filling in the form. Just insert your name, or, if you want, a nickname (it must be always the same for all your future predictions) and then for each game just write down the referee and his nationality in brackets. Please write the name of a referee in a clear way, we will try always to support your choice, but don't make it impossible for us.
Example: Felix Brych (GER), Joel Aguilar (SLV), and so on.
Example: Felix Brych (GER), Joel Aguilar (SLV), and so on.
Points will be assigned according to the following pattern (new rules after group stage):
10 points for having guessed the exact referee of a match
5 point if a referee from the same confederation of the one guessed will be in charge of the specific game
2 points if a guessed referee for a game will get a game in the same round (for example, the whole round of 16)
In order to give you more time, given the short period for predictions, as soon as the first appointment for the related games will be released, the form will be annulled and your predictions wont be accepted.
The day of release for the first appointment of this set is 12 July.
A special thank to Soham and Eric.

Faghani on the final, Diedhiou on the 3rd place game IMO
ReplyDeleteThe time has come for The Asian Football Confederation!
ReplyDeleteGod only know when the AFC will have such a strong candidate and contender for a FIFA World Cup Final.
So my question is, "if not now, when?"
Vamos Alireza Faghani!
Hey, I m vote for Nestor Pitana. Safer hand than anybody for final.
ReplyDeleteHighly possible. Pitana.
DeleteFaghani for Final (Ricci FO) and Diedhiou for 3rd place match (Conger FO)
ReplyDeleteThat is my prediction also.
DeleteI don't think Ricci will be 4O though, remember they didn't go with a "big name" 4O last time around, Vera was the 4O on the final. He did 2 group stage games and nothing more in the center. So I think we could see anyone of the remaining referees as the 4th Official. My bet is Geiger. Maybe Rocchi.
DeleteFinal predictions
ReplyDelete(REF-FO-VAR-AVAR1-AVAR2-AVAR3)
FRA-CRO: FAGHANI (IRN) - Pitana (ARG) - Irrati (ITA) - Gil (POL) - Astroza (CHI) - Valeri (ITA)
BEL-ENG: DIEDHIOU (SEN) - Rocchi (ITA) - Zwayer (GER) - Dankert (GER) - Borsch (GER) - Makkelie (NED)
Match for 3rd place seems tougher to predict, Ricci is also in the race for this game.
Dont exclude Deidhiou as a main referee in the final. You remember Belqola in 1998?
ReplyDeleteFaghani for final, Deidhiou or Mazic for 3rd place.
ReplyDeleteHello, Nestor Pitana for the final and Rocchi at 3rd place game.
ReplyDeleteFINAL: Ricci (Fo Diedhiou or Pitana)
ReplyDelete3rd place: Faghani (FO Mazic or Rocchi)
No Kuipers, definitely.
ReplyDeleteI would go for Bjorn Kuipers for the FINAL , still ,because being 4 th official in semis is not a reason for being out of the race for the FINAL. Faghanni for 3 rd place game .
DeleteFinal Faghani
ReplyDelete4 Rocchi
VAR Irrati
3rd Place Pitana
Which refs stay in tournament?
ReplyDeleteMazic, Faghani, Geiger, Cunha, Ramos, Kuipers, Çakır, Diedhiou, Rocchi, Conger, Pirana, Ricci.
DeleteWhich outfit colour for Final game?
ReplyDeleteYellow (Lloris) and Green (Subasić) authomatically discarded. Also Red one if Croatia plays with classical outfit.
Should be Black or Light Blue.
Will be Black or Red.
DeleteIf France plays in dark blue, black won't be possible. So either light blue for the referees or one of the GKs needs to change.
DeleteRed and Black are out for sure hopefully, and blue would maybe clash a bit with the french kits too... hopefully they just make one of the goalkeepers wear a different color.
DeleteExcuse me BUT... blue is closer to "light blue" than to "black" fellas. Also, France is only blue for the jersey, but the shorts are white and socks are red. Excuse me but I'm pretty confident it'll be BLACK or RED. Croatia's jersey is mostly white, I won't be a problem if Pitana wears DEEP RED.
DeletePretty sure it will be Pitana for the final. With Rici as 4th official, and Vigliano as VAR.
ReplyDeleteFaghani for the 3rd place match.
Sorry, but no recognition or comment? I got it exactly right. Both final and 3rd place matches. Just saying... :P
DeleteI think everyone is under estimating Mark Geiger in this... Keep in mind FIFA looks at the officials history with the final teams. (Which Geiger has none) im not saying he will 100% be the final referee BUT I am saying his name should be kept in serious contention. Pitana had France way to recently to see them again, other wise I'd say it would be him. This is a tough one!
ReplyDeleteI think that's not the criterion FIFA is using. Pitana referee'd France right after they eliminated Argentina, and France won. And everybody happy. Also on the previous round he referee'd Croatia, and they also won. I think none of the teams will object having the referee for their finals. Geiger was involved in 3 scandals. In one, with Ronaldo. In another, with a ridiculous 6+3 extra minutes in Germany-Korea match. In his final match, he lost all control of the match. Pitana, on the contrary, has a good recent record with all his matches and is a guaranteed "control" for a quiet game. I think there's no doubt it is Pitana the next ref.
DeleteI disagree. FIFA stood by Geiger so strongly and quickly it would be like them to involve Geiger in some sort of role to say a big F*** you to those hating and making the claims. You know that's how FIFA roles. Now is it right?....may be maybe not. Just saying he wasn't put in the final phase for no reason. And with Cakir, Cunha, Kuipers out of the running? Who knows..FIFA has done crazier things
DeleteGeiger's AR2 has been sent home so clearly Geiger won't get any match on the pitch!
DeleteGeiger is ordinary
DeleteTOLD. YOU. ehem.... you still disagree after hearing the announcement today? :)
DeleteWhatever the outcome, you can bet it will have integrity. It has had up until this point, with Pierluigi Collina as chairman. One thing worth noting, though: 14 matches, 14 different referees. I tend to agree with Diedhiou for Saturday, but I can't help thinking about Sandro Ricci for the final. So often he doesn't get this chance because Brazil are playing. Maybe now?
ReplyDeleteAs I mentioned on other discussion:
ReplyDeleteMy favorite for the final is: Faghani (Ricci FO).
I wouldn't be surprised if I see Ricci on the pitch and Faghani FO.
3rd Place game - Diedhiou (Geiger FO)
If Ricci or Pitana get a further match, that would be 4 out of the last 8 matches for CONMEBOL, which seems too much. If that was planned, they would not have chosen Cunha, I think.
ReplyDeletei don`t think so that will be a CONMEBOL referee for the final. both Pitana and Ricci had both teams. so i expect an AFC referee for the final with Rocchi FO.
ReplyDeleteI think that Faghani has been one of the best referees in this WC, also the media have recognized his work and acclaimed his actuation in FRA-ARG.
ReplyDeleteBy other hand, like others colleagues mentioned, it's a fantastic oportunity for AFC.
Fifa's Original plan was an UEFA referee for the final. Cakir/ kuipers/ Mazic or rocchi. But faghani and diedhiou's solid performance change that. Cakir sf, kuipers qf and sf 4O, mazic qf appointments make they out for the final. Rocchi remain only one without match. I think he doesnt deserve the final more than kuipers, cakir and Mazic. I believe that rocchi will be 4th oficial of the final or maybe 3/4 place match. Also Conmebol referees have no chance for the final. They have got opening match, 2 qf's and one sf. Maybe conger get the 3/4 match 4th official post. I am also pretty sure that fifa will appoint geiger to remaining matches as 4th official or var2 referee.
ReplyDeleteMY predictions:
Final
faghani ( 4th official rocchi)
3/4 place match:
Diedhiou (4th official geiger or conger)
Quote: "Fifa's Original plan was an UEFA referee for the final."
DeleteSource?
peter nosto
DeleteIt looks pretty sure for me....
ReplyDeleteFinal: CESAR RAMOS (MEX)
THIRD PLACE: ALIREZA FAGHANI (IRN)
Not a chance, Unknown, no final for Cesar Ramos,he was 4th official at SF.
DeleteFaghani is better referee that Ramos. Indubitable.
DeleteI selected RAMOS because he is CONCACAF.....
DeleteHAHAHAHAHA.
DeleteCollina is intelligent:
ReplyDeleteWe had 4 european teams in SF
So we have 4 games - thats mean 1 game for every country
SF cakir - Europe
SF cunha - Comebol
Final Faghani - Asia
3rd didhou - Africa
FINAL: R: Faghani /IRN/ FO: Ricci /BRA/
ReplyDelete3rd place: R: Geiger /USA/ FO: Diedhiou /SEN/
Geiger wont get any game. His AR2 was sent home.
DeleteCan anybody tell me when we can today see appoitment for third place match.
ReplyDeleteFIFA normally sticks to the convention of announcing referees 48 hrs prior to a match kick-off.
ReplyDeleteThe suspense is killing me :-P.
DeleteBest wishes for A.Faghani , final is expecting this incredible judge ,😚 with love from iran.
ReplyDeleteMy predictions.
ReplyDeleteFinal: Faghani (FO Rocchi and VAR Irrati.
3rd Place: Diedhiou (FO Conger and VAR Geiger).
OT

England tried to score while Croatia was celebrating :D
:-) What about sportsmanship? The Englishmen used to be gentelmen in good old days :-) . BTW: Vlasta is a correspondent of the Slovenian national TV in Moscow.
DeleteLets wait for 8 minutes, then i expect appponit for third place.
ReplyDeleteAnnouncement , anytime now ? Guess , they will not wait for the FINAL ref announcement till tomorrow and will announce it today along with the 3 rd place ref.
DeleteAnnouncement , anytime now ? Guess , they will not wait for the FINAL ref announcement till tomorrow and will announce it today along with the 3 rd place ref.
DeleteNothing yet? I don't see an announcement.. :(
DeleteRizzoli's appointment in 2014 was announced on the preceding Thursday, IIRC.
DeleteHow are "8 minutes" defined in Reffottown? :-D
DeleteMuch many that I have expected.
DeleteWaiting here for 3-4 place appointment.
ReplyDeleteMazic, Kuipers, Cakir, Rocci, (No Europen ref because of 2010-2014)
ReplyDelete---
Faghani, Ramos, Conger (They are young for Collina)
---
Geiger, Cunha, Diedhiou (No final chance)
---
Pitana, ( he have very few chance, its hard both opening and closing match)
---
Ricci (my favorite final ref)
Both opening and closing is also a little poetic, don't you think?
DeleteHAHAHAHA... you're all obviously too biased and don't "See" like the FIFA referee committee.
DeleteThink you are being a little disrespectful to the readers... You just got a wild prediction correct, it's not the end of the world... Relax and be a little less disrespectful if you can!
DeleteWhen is the announcement?

Hate to say it, but TOLD YA!!!
ReplyDeleteI feel there was racial bias in not appointing alireza to the final. His performance was the best imo. He's had high international level experience too. Dont get why paitana was so cherished..argentine/south american bias??
