  1. Very good appointment for Marciniak! Committee was convinced by his performance in Lepizig - Atletico.

So we can exclude Brych and Marciniak out of European finals this season.

    1. Why should they be excluded from CL final?

    2. Of course not offical but I think that would be quit surprisingly to see Brych refereeing his second UCL Final and has tomorrow a UEL Semifinal.

    3. Clattenburg had Semifinal UCL and Final CL

    1. This but maybe Orsato instead of Del Cerro.

    2. I hope at least that Kuipers is one of them.
someone on Twitter suggested the idea of appointing a referee for a second time as there are no fans present (as in UK with cup final, but with the option of a Spanish ref in the final, I'd personnaly go for that.

    3. hmm. Appointing Taylor for his second final didn't exactly work out well!

    4. JEEZ JACKSON YOU REALLY ARE OBSESSED WITH TAYLOR... RENT FREE AS SOME PEOPLE WOULD SAY.

  3. Now we have the confirmation that referees can switch between Portugal and Germany, which gives more options for the next appointments.

    1. I think Orsato will have EL final

    2. Matio I dont think so because an Italian referee (Gianluca Rocchi) got the EL final last year, so I don't think there will be another Italian for a successive year.

  6. Any Saudi appointments for today?

  7. It's the 3rd appointment for Marciniak after the season restarted. Probably UEFA is satisfied by him so far (even though Olympiakos fans are furious with him) but IMO it's also alarming since it shows that there are only a few options.

  8. Why was Hategan brought to Germany, only for a 4th oficial quarter-final UEL match? Taking into consideration that 2 years ago he had UEL QF, last year had SF, this year was a good one for him (last match Bayern-Chelsea was without mistake), i guess it is unfair for him to be left out.

    1. Is Hategan maybe a candidate for EL final?

      Delete
    2. To be honest I don't think so. He is great referee but it looks like Committee still has no full trust in him for some reason. He was appointed in two matches in this year CL round of 16, but both matches were 2nd legs whith more or less everything solved in 1st legs. In my oppinion he deserved more difficult and important matches. But based on the previous appointments I don't think we will see Hategan again this season.

      Delete
    3. Being honest, a weak point against Hategan is represented by the assistant referees, not so much accurate like other officials. It s true that nowadays we have VAR but I saw too often too many mistakes.
Also, but this must be considered for last season, unluckily Hategan paid the fact that he was among the Elite referees without any chance to use VAR in his league, so he was out from many games having to make training before being appointed.

      Delete
    4. Why do you think Hategan's ARs are weaker than other ARs?

Skomina does not have VAR in Slovenia, but that did not prevent him from getting big appointments. Hategan worked with VAR at all his FIFA tournaments he attended in the last two years. The VAR argument does not stand. After that WC qualifier 3 years ago, Hategan had consistently performed very well. Unless there is an unknown reason, it is not fair that he was not given even a quarter-final this year!

  9. you‘re maybe right. But I remember that he refereed en EL SF last year, that was a sign of trust from committee.

  10. Big game for Marciniak and he proved with his good performances that he is man for a big job. If I don’t remember wrongly he already was appointed for semi final in EL last year but because of injury he missed that game. Maybe Marciniak is being prepared for this years CL final? He is in form right now and who knows what can happen.. But remember that there is some big names before him that deserves this appointment more than he do but we’ll see.

  11. Or Batta and Dallas can't decide who will observe who or they maybe expect someone else to arrive to observe Marciniak and Brych.

  14. Particular scene with Inter coach Antonio Conte making complaints about the ball to fourth official William Collum.

  15. 28' Godin is lucky to escape a caution for a fairly reckless challenge. Marciniak being lenient again today, perhaps

    ReplyDelete
  16. The possible yellow card to Godin was the only refereeing highlight of first half, in my opinion, in a very easy context for Marciniak.

    1. I find this game quite intriguing, both in terms of play and in terms of refereeing. Both teams seem to be happy with Shakhtar’s passing tactics and with Marciniak’s lenient line, but the development of the second half will be really interesting. Do the teams stay content forever? Surely not, it is a semifinal, I think there will be some desperation later on.

  17. Easy game for Marciniak in the 1H. Only missed a YC to Godin as already pointed out. Let’s see what happens now!

    1. He risked a lot in my opinion but it's never YC for me, he clearly touched the ball.

  18. 54' Jostle in midfield, Godin gets hit in the head with a stray arm but Marciniak calls the foul against him for holding. Talking-to for the opponent.

  19. First YC of the game 58' for SPA

    ReplyDelete
  20. Well, now Marciniak with a YC to Taison... To me it was not even foul, he first touches the ball. Anyhow was it really SPA?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. If it was a foul I agree SPA; Inter had numbers and space to attack quickly. For me the foul call can go either way, but given the lenient line Marciniak has established earlier in the game, I was a bit surprised he whistled this one. But the intensity of the game has been increasing a little bit from the easy first half, so perhaps this is a good adaptation.

      Delete
  21. I think it's safe to say that Marciniak has altered his tactic from the first half. Perhaps he sensed the temperature rising because he is no longer operating with such leniency as we saw earlier.

  22. Easy game but Marciniak and his team in good performance. Strong management, correct YC, assistants with good decisions. Marciniak with big chance for 4th Official in final CL.
