DeleteI have not followed much of LaLiga Smartbank until the last MD and the play-offs, and not all matches, so I can't say. However, I think Alberola Rojas should still be ahead of him, at least given that he already has experience in LaLiga and is younger too.
The question now is how many spots will there be available and when. With age limits, there should be 2 spots for 2022 (Del Cerro's and Estrada's). Given Del Cerro's preselection for WC 2022, and given that he's surely the choice, that one won't be available. Mateu's should follow the following season (2023).
So my bet is that for 2023 there will be 2 spots open and that one will be for Alberola (save disastrous performances like Vicandi Garrido).
@George A little bit surprised with the promotion of Figueroa Vázquez (1980). I think he was pretty good in his play-off game (SF 2nd leg Zaragoza-Elche) but I didn't expect him to get promoted.

Surprised for not seeing López Toca promoted as he was appointed for final 2nd leg. But, this is a clear message from CTA-RFEF: it doesn't matter if you are appointed for 2nd leg of final, if you have a sub-par performance you might not be promoted.
FYI, I'd mark López Toca's performance yesterday as 7.8(1) if we accept that originally calling the RC after OFR for SFP challenge as a reckless YC is a crucial mistake. I said he reminded me a lot of Kim Milton Nielsen due to his relaxed style, but one thing is 'relaxed' and other thing is 'passive'. A -0.1 deduction of the original 8.2 was due to a missed clear YC for reckless elbow in the late stages of the game in which he didn't even call a foul.
@Chefren I think so, although I can't explain how his style is, maybe George can help me. I'd say his biggest strength are decision taking, he has a quite law-enforcing style without being 'aggresive' on it.
I agree, also in terms of age (although with the limit removal that might have lost a bit of weight).
DeleteRegarding yesterday's performance, I also agree, but I think the missed YC could have also been a red given the movement of the arm. To me, it looked more like being used as a weapon than a tool, as I had the impression that he gave more strength to the arm while in contact with the other player's neck. But yes, at the very least, a YC missed. I don't know if that played a role, though, or if the promotion decisions had already been made. I guess it did, seeing that the official leakers (Ramón Fuentes and Isaac Fouto, who have been both playing a disgusting role in the Deportivo - Fuenlabrada scandal) didn't consider Figueroa and did consider López Toca when they already knew Prieto Iglesia's demotion.

ReplyDeleteWell, I said that, to me, the decision to demote César Manuel Noval Font was very surprising. It seems that it is so for him as well. He has just released a video in which he says that the decision is not based on sporting merits, but rather due to the fact that he has a good relation with some professional player (some of which are still active and have been refereed by him, as Roberto Soldado) and has appeared on the media recently. He demands more transparency and naturality to the CTA and hopes he can continue enjoying football.
I'll add that not returning to the competition after Covid suspension might have played a role as well.
It's clear that CTA-RFEF didn't like to see him having a party in a yacht along with some LaLiga players...
DeleteIs it worth a demotion? Debatable. I don't know what will be of Noval Font, if he will handle games in Segunda or will retire, given that he openly criticized CTA-RFEF asking for more transparency in the video you mentioned.
