  2. Wow, what a debut for Soto Grado :D

  3. Huge game for Grado. Both teams are giving 50% to go to next round. Very hot atmosphere in Koln so will not be easy and for me surprised that this one is giving to Grado. I can add that he is doing great in La liga. This is referee that has great body language, always in great shape. He has great help by his AR and they don't miss many mandatory cards and are not afraid of big decisions. Yesterday very correct penalty and red card from him. Velasco likes him a lot. But now decisive Euro game that he have to handle on English will be huge test for him.

Big game for Chiffi to but not same level as Anderlecht has not more then 25% to advance and Silkeborg has not that hot atmosphere .

  4. Kikacheishvili withj Velasco Carballo is the most interesting assignment in terms of observation. I already said that, I think a promotion would be deserved, he was absolutely good at U19 EURO.
The games for Soto Grado and Chiffi have been assigned with regular observers, committee trust the two names coming from Italy and Spain.
We should also mention the Polish Raczkowski in Belgrade, a referee with CL experience and clearly an appointment that on paper sounds too much for this game, easily explained by the fact that the Serbian team is involved and they have still to qualify.
Maybe committe reads the comments on Nole on this blog but hopefully that's not the reason :D

    2. Will watch him today live at the stadium. The game will not be so easy, so wish him good luck.

  6. Scottish referee for an Irish team is unusual at this level

  7. Expected appointment for Gishamer in Gent: Chefren already released the observers a few days in advance. Given that Fandel is his current mentor at the talents programme, I would have been surprised to read another assignment.

Can anyone recognize (or does even know) the other talents?

  8. Interesting appointment for Žalgiris - Slovan Bratislava.
Godinho is the third game that whistles in the Conference League group stage. Very interesting!

To me no penalty, but never simulation due to contact with opponent, a normal one.

    2. I also think there is no real simulation here, although this slight contact is definitely not enough for a penalty, expected decision is play on IMO. Understandable mistake by Fesnic if you ask me, but a significant one.

  11. Good alertness by Godinho disallowing a goal scored by the same player who had missed a penalty (crossbar).
The player from Slovan Bratislava was surprised and he didn't understand reason for the choice by referee. Simply unacceptable that at this level players don't know that... playing in UEFA competitions.

    1. Chefren,
Very good performance by Godinho last night in Vilnius.
Physically very strong, technically and disciplinary without any repair.
Several possible penalty's and one penalty awarded. In the execution of the penalty, the same player plays the ball twice and he signals an indirect free kick. Very good!
He closed the Conference League group stage in great shape, having refereed his third game at this stage.
I believe good things will come for him in the near future.
I will be on the lookout for him.

  12. Very solid prestation by Gishamer in K.A.A. Gent - Molde. Now, correct PK 88' for GNT

Good to see a red card in this case! It is the classic situation in which we see very often YC for SPA by lenient referees... and VAR can't question. In this case, game without VAR, I really like this decision, he knows this is a crucial test for him.

    2. Agree, very good decision

    3. Good prestation by Chiffi for his first appointement

    4. Tbh giving a YC in that situation would be clearly wrong and worthy of a mandatory OFR. Not even a 90-10 decision.

      Delete
    5. I see it the same way as Quilava, YC here would be a clear mistake. Nevertheless a good decision and especially well executed with convincing body language.

    6. Fully agree with Quilava and Cassius on this one, RC for DOGSO is the only correct solution in this case IMO. VAR intervention would have been mandatory for me if a YC had been issued.

  14. Soto Grado missed a handball by the goalscorer before Nice's first goal.

    1. Unfortunately, I think you're right. I was watching the game on TV and thought I'd seen the same: the ball seemed to have hit his right hand while he was standing up. As it directly preceded the goal being scored, it should have been deemed as handball and the goal should have been disallowed, IMO. A real pity because I think Soto Grado had a pretty decent performance beside that miss.
