  1. A lot of Ma Ning, Maguette N'Diaye and Said Martinez as 4th officials. Smells not good for them to have a game as main referee unfortunately

    1. This is strange for me to see Frappart at Tunisia - Australia. she is from France, and France is in the same group. So it is impossible to see her their.

  3. Easy first half with a correct penalty call, the game seems already decided in favor of a side.

    1. What do you think about offside decision? Is it deflection or play?

    2. RFEF SK - indeed an interesting scene; as per BELRUS precident at last EURO, the flag should be correct IMO.

    3. If you mean the first goal, it should be considered as deflection according to new rules, no time for the player to react properly and so I think in case of offside, flag to be raised, but attacker was ONSIDE.

    4. I think you mean another situation, maybe I missed it, minute?

    5. Min. 32:38 after free kick by CRC.

  4. For my opinion it's deliberate play cause of My criterias
    1. The ball is coming from long distance
    2. A defender player clearly see the ball
    3. The ball is not too fast
    4. A defender player has all body control
    5. And the ball comes from air but this is restart situation, a defender take his location at the pitch in side his own penalty area.

    1. I agree that it could have been deliberate play for the reasons you mentioned, especially long time for the player to react, due to long ball.

  5. The extra-time in this match is absolutely embarrasing

  6. Easy going game for ref, result made it very easy.
I agree that some things need to be done by the book, but plus 8 minutes in this type of match?Where is common sense?

2 YC's were justified, one altercation was handled pretty well and there's pretty much nothing to add.

    1. Agreed, absolutely one-sided affair. Technically good performance by Mohamed, I have nothing to add to your comment regarding this.

What is maybe worth mentioning is that this was probably the same Mohamed I remember from the last WC. Maybe I'm completely wrong, but I just cannot resist a certain feeling of insecurity radiating from him, as though he is sometimes not sure about his decisions. This was barely visible today because of the easy match, but still... Also, it seems he still lacks something in terms of connecting with players and personal authority, as visible in a couple of situations where CRC players were somewhat annoyed with him (58') or showed some dissent pretty openly (68'). However, it was still a decent, expected level performance and a good start of the tournament for Mohamed.

  7. Analysis

    Key Match Incidents:

    29' Penalty awarded to Spain
    https://streamable.com/00z7xv
Very few to comment on this call, a clear trip by the Costarician defender, Mohamed had a perfect angle and blew his whistle right away, good decision.

    Balance:

The Emirati referee had a decent game, where he was helped by the extreme superiority of the Spanish side.

He correctly cautioned two CRC players in 68' (-very-reckless tackle)
and in 90+7'(reckless step on foot), and reacted quickly to handle a player confrontation in 79'. Otherwise no work to do, few fouls, no frustation nor revenge challenges.

Like almost every of his colleagues, he opted for some prevention at set pieces, played a good advantage in 90+2', and got one minor positioning problem in 45+4' when he interfered with play and got hit by the ball.

On a presence level, we witnessed Mohamed being the one we saw in FRAPER four years ago: not confortable in his decision-making, a rather isolated figure who can't really arouse confidence (see CRC15 reaction after being more than deservedly booked). This is an indicator of the limits of the Emirati, who doesn't seem to have improved in recent years in this area.

AR1, besides an interesting offside decision in 33' (possible deliberate play ?), had a quiet day, and AR2 was excellent and got many calls right (excellent onside prior to 1-0, spot-on offsides in 35',45',67',74', well seen goal-kick in 66' - ball got out of play at the opposite side of his position - )

A satisfying start for the trio from UAE, who left the door open for another appointment.

    Marks: ( 7 - 7 - 8 - III )
