  1. Mateu Lahoz clearly appointed due to Qatar there.
About Escobar, looks like they want to start carefully, differently from Barton.
Big assignment for Valenzuela, normal as one could have expected for Ghorbal.
Unexpected fourth official assignment for N'Diaye, no games for him?

  2. @Philipp, could you provide us, please, the statistic with the most predicted referees for MD2 games?

    2. What happened with my post? I only see a mistake, because Frappart can't be appointed at Tunisia with Australia, because she is from France, and her nationeal team is in the same group.

  3. Assistant referee Caleb WALES for WALES - Iran. :-D

    1. After your comment, it is possible FIFA will replace him...

    2. The name on the back of the jersey could be a problem XD

    3. Is it likely that Wales will have a psychological adventage because one of the linesmen's names is "Wales"?

  4. Interesting decision to put Lahoz on the Qatar vs Senegal game. Me like most people, would've expected him to be in the middle for Argentina vs Mexico. I suppose Makkelie would be a strong contender to officiate this fixture now

    1. About Mateu Lahoz, similar use to his recent CL games, not real top clashes (and Argentina - Mexico would have been so), but rather extremely important game for a team (in this case, Qatar and we know how much attention is given to host) but in more "background" scenario.

  5. Said Martinez is the busiest man at this World Cup, 4 days in a row as 4th official!! Wow

    1. I think it's far too much, when the other (clear 4th Officials) could have been used on that match. Matonte was used early on, I wonder if he will be used as referee in MD2

  6. Weak appointments for Mario Escobar and Antonio Mateu... I expected something big for them both. What a game for Jesús Valenzuela, also unexpected if you ask me!

  7. I think that the "conf neutrality" criterion is the only important for the Committee. Common language (e.g. Lahoz in ARG-MEX Conger/Beath in ENG-USA) does not play any role. So, I failed in my predictions.
Additionally, may I ask to @Philipp to release statistics on more predicted referees for the MD1?
