Kaliningrad, 22 June 2018 20:00 CET
Serbia - Switzerland
Referee: Felix Brych (GER)
Assistant Referee 1: Mark Borsch (GER)
Assistant Referee 2: Stefan Lupp (GER)
Fourth Official: Nawaf Shukralla (BHR)
Fifth Official: Yaser Tulefat (BHR)
VAR: Felix Zwayer (GER)
AVAR1: Bastian Dankert (GER)
AVAR 2: Carlos Astroza (CHI)
AVAR 3: Clément Turpin (FRA)
Seems to be a very difficult match tonight, so Brych might be best choice for it ,but also he can loose his ambitions for the final.
ReplyDeleteWe'll see: i'm very excited !
Due to VAR-interventions we have less crucial mistakes at this WC = more options for nominations in knock-out-rounds. For those rounds we have to talk about personality and experience instead of counting mistakes and automatically nominate those remaining like in 2014.
ReplyDeleteVery correct... A referee with one crucial mistake but otherwise excellent personality and management is more preferable with a referee making no crucial mistake but poor and haphazard management... This indeed is valid when VARs are present!
DeleteWith such a crucial and unforgivable mistake Bryg made tonight, I can only hope this was his last performance...And where the f..k was VAR ? Unbelievable.
DeleteWhich mistake?????
DeleteShould be a penalty for Serbia when two Albanians clinches a Serbian forward.
DeleteGood luck, Felix ! :)
ReplyDeleteIf Germany go out early, you have to think that Brych was the frontrunner for the final heading into the tournament. But we'll see, this game is important for him!
ReplyDeleteI see Brych in that case in one line with Cakir, Ricci (if Germany wins ag.Brasil 1/8 final), Mazic, Faghani, Kuipers. I cannot see a clear frontrunner.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, Brych is the clear frontrunner as long as the German team goes out.
DeleteHe had the best season out of all the UEFA referee's that have been selected. Domestic league and in UEFA Competitions.
Deletelet the coin hit the floor???
ReplyDeletethought that was a no no?
Seems to be pretty standard at the WC.
Deleteive watched just about every coin toss and thats the first time ive seen it hit the floor.
DeleteConger let it hit the floor as well. I think i depends on the referee and what they are used to from the begining
DeleteYeah, there's no set, accepted, or wrong way to do it. Just make sure the coin the actually rotates and flips in the air.
DeleteI can’t speak to his qualifications as a ref but I can say without hesitation or equivocation that he is the handsomest referee I have seen- in any sport!
DeleteThey should let those kids who follow them at ever line up do the coin toss. That would have been amazing for a kid. They just stand there and to nothing.
DeleteI've noticed that one child is who carries the coin and gives it to the referee for the coin toss. But yeah, that's a great idea Victor. That child would remember that for the rest of his or her life.
DeleteOT: Again two teams, which wear a different colour than on MD1. This makes 15 out of 20 teams on MD2, who changed.
ReplyDeleteMost likely the kit manufacturers want all teams to appear in both jerseys in the group stage. ARG-ISL, IRN-ESP, DEN-AUS, BRA-CRC = both teams wore their away jerseys. Looks ridiculous when fans wear different colours.
DeleteYeah having both Costa Rica and Brasil wear their away kits today, why? Yellow contrasts with Red, doesn't it?
DeleteBest referee right now IMO.
ReplyDeleteyes hardly even notice him.
DeleteI notice him. He’s cute!!
DeleteFirst 15min. Brych very good. Obviously these players respect him a lot.
ReplyDeleteHalf an hour nearly over. Nothing to report so far.
ReplyDeleteIf the game continues like this i think Brych is happy because i don’t think he needs to impress the committee so much in a group stage game
DeleteNothing? Very intense match, high rythm, loud crowd, Brych in a full control... 1st YC 34min.
DeleteCorrect YC to Milinnkovic Savic.
ReplyDeleteCorrect YC but not the standard of this WC
ReplyDeleteYesterday for example we saw much worse fouls that were not booked.
DeleteCorrect and fully deserved caution to Serbian player. Who now misses his next match. Oh well, he can only blame himself.
ReplyDeleteexcellent advantage + YC.
ReplyDeleteNow perfectly given advantage that led to correct booking for Milivojevic.
ReplyDeleteTwo YCs now. Both correct for me.
ReplyDeleteAnother correct YC and this one in the standard of this WC
ReplyDeleteThe only standard YC in this WC seems to be for stoping a promising attack !!!
ReplyDeleteIt's turning into a "card-fest"! He's ruining the match!
ReplyDeleteOf course I say these things in a sarcastic manner.
The Dr. is doing his thing. Keeping with his highly successful and accepted style.
If only Irmatov could do the same yesterday
DeleteYou forgot to underline that there is not enough entertainment with those traditional rules. Haha.
DeleteBrych consequent and fully respected, not disturbing the flow, but enforcing the rules if necessary. Love it.
ReplyDeleteExcellent Brych with very good management!
ReplyDeleteThird YC. Maybe a bit too harsh this one, especially since it's 3-0 in cards now. Not criticizing him, don't misunderstand me, just hoping it won't lead to accusations and less acceptance from the Serbian players. Very good reaction to the following dissent.
ReplyDeleteMatic knew exactly what he did and why he was cautioned. He didn't even say an single word in protest.
DeleteHe didn't indeed and his only intention was to foul. His colleagues were the ones I meant.
Delete3rd YC totally wrong
ReplyDeleteMaybe a bit hard but not wrong
DeleteNever totally wrong. Could have easily injured his opponent, if he had hit him. Reckless, so YC card harsh but supportable.
DeleteMatic knew exactly what he did. That's why he didn't argue the Yellow Card. Late swipe right on the exposed ankle.
DeleteUnfortunately there were way too many of these late hits and or stomps in yesterdays game that were not dealt with properly. Which for most after watching yesterdays game are left with a wrong expectation of what to expect from the referee's. Then they watch Brych today and they think that he's being too harsh. But as a matter of fact he's not.
yes yesterday was an embarassment.
DeleteI was never a big fan of Brych. But this 1st half... wow. excellent! what a pro!
ReplyDeleteExcellente performance up to now, perfect. Very close always, very concentrated.
ReplyDeleteHave to say I like the performance of Brych so far. And very positive, he punishes those ugly stamps. Good performance!
ReplyDeleteWhich ugly stamps? Match is normal, correct. 2 YCs deserved, third one is the softest YC on this tournament. If Brych refereed Argentina-Croatia he would give 6-7 YCs only in 1st half. Totally different approach. He is doing well, bit should avoid YC to Matic.
DeleteRead, Teo. In other matches, we complained about stamps on the foot or ankle. I am glad Brych punished them and for me all cards were correct.
Delete3rd YC to Matic.
ReplyDeleteIf we compare that to yesterday's fouls, then this is soft booking.
Most bookings on the tournament would be considered soft compared to yesterdays battle
DeleteLast YC - let phrase it this way an avoidable YC. Not incorrect but the card could be kept in the pocket a stern warning would have suffices
ReplyDeleteStamping on foot. One more YC. Totally deserved. Clear sign to all players. Call it classic style, I call it correct and necessary.
ReplyDeleteIMO not YC for Matic
ReplyDeleteSo far so good.
ReplyDeleteBrych doing well.
I would liked to have seen a public warning instead of the third caution. He obviously saw Matic go in with studs raised but there was little if any contact. But overall a very good first half from Felix. Currently my favourite referee and if Germany go out I hope he gets the final.
ReplyDeleteBrych very good. Maybe 3rd YC was to easy. We can see what does it mean when referee is top-class (famous) and recognized by players. Tough match become easy, especially when all decisions are correct and quick.
ReplyDeleteImo best referee dis world cup... wow super ref so impressed
ReplyDeleteMissed corner kick 45'
ReplyDeleteGood Brych with some superb management... Well done!
ReplyDeleteOverbearing, superlative.
ReplyDeleteYoung referees learn how to stay in the field
ReplyDeleteWhy would a referee be off the field?
DeleteIf I imagine this is Champions league, then Brych's performance is very good.
ReplyDeleteBut when I remember that we are watching World Cup, which guidelines referees have and how much YCs were 'missed' so for on WC, then I don't understand this criteria?!
What, all other referees are fools because they follow FIFA instructions?
Cant understand.
Please don't judge me, it's a very good performance, that' clear. But how referees can have totaly different criteria?
To be more precise, I'm speaking about YC criteria, especially the 3rd one.
DeleteI agree completely. Brych`s criteria is totally not within standard that is set up in competition so far
DeleteI'm not there so I don't know what it's like to be a World Cup referee. However I'd like to think that if I didn't personally like or feel good about the directives or guidance that I'm given. I'm stepping out on to that pitch and I'm going to stick with the style that got me to the World Cup. If my style was good enough to be chosen. Then that's what I'm doing.
DeleteI think that's the case with Brych.
Brych is excellent so far. Great disciplinary control, consistency, good management skills in a challenging game. That's what we missed yesterday. Let's hope a similar second half.
ReplyDeleteMatic knew very well what he was doing and what he did to Lichsteiner. Thus the reason why he didn't even say a word to protest the correctly given Yellow Card.
ReplyDeleteNow missed foul from Kolarov, potential YC
ReplyDeleteMissed YC for Kolarov
ReplyDeleteNo. Thisone for me not mandatory. Possible but not more.
DeleteYes indeed. And now? No.more stamping on feet. Hard, but fair fight. q.e.d.
ReplyDeleteThis foul by Kolarov that was missed was more of YC than one for which Matic received it
ReplyDeleteI agree.
DeleteMutual holding is my verdict on that one.
ReplyDeleteyes they all look guilty. attacker could have sold in more by attempting to play the ball over working on pulling defender down with him.
DeleteYeah the Serbian striker had the Swiss #22 in what looked like a head lock.
Delete66' why foul from Mitrobic. He had 2 players holding him. This was a penalty.
ReplyDeletei think it would have not the attacker had the defender wrapped on the front side in full view of ref.
Deleteif that arm was not wrapped, bet he would have got the call.
Worst no-call in the WC so far. I wonder why VAR doesn't get involved. Do they just not want to embarrass Brych?
DeleteSometimes a fine application of VAR and having the courage to overturn a decision brings plaudits instead of embarassment... Just look at Kuipers today and the number of people asking him to book him for the final ;)
DeleteDefinitely should be a penalty for Serbia. Blatant error by Brych and the VARs. Do you think it ends Brych's dreams for the final?
Delete66' 2 Swiss defenders holding Mitrovic, Brych whistles Mitrovic's foul.
ReplyDeleteDamn. That’s a penalty for Serbia, double holding. Brych is my favourite referee and now needs some luck.
ReplyDeleteShocking no call with 2 Swiss players mugging a Serb as the header for an easy goal came his way in the box. There is subtext of Euro politics in this game. The chosen ref should have come from another continent! A game that would have been 2-1 Serbia or a 2-2 tie was changed completely. Bad and cynical no call.
DeleteThat's right. In particular, a German should not officiate such a political game, between Serbia and Albania indeed....
DeleteNow big space for discussion. For me 50/50 - PK. Correct to play on because both sides holding ... but when he gives PK Suisse can't complain.
ReplyDeleteI see no reason why Mitrovic was penalised there... Not the right call !
DeleteMr. Smith. From now on I will ignore your comments. With your aggressive childish behaviour you should not expect to be taken serious. Trolls do not deserve attention. Bye.
Delete@Steve Smith I see that you are a very consistent person, after having insulted me and many of the other readers, you are still here, contraddicting yourself. Nice to notice that, maybe reason is you can't live without the blog, but the blog can live without you.
DeleteRegards!
Applause, Chefren.
DeleteWell said,Chefren!
Delete"Both sides holding" - YES!! One Swiss and another Swiss, on both sides holding. Like a hamburger with a clinched meat inside.
DeleteDo you all still think that he is having an excellent game...
ReplyDeleteJudo grasp on Mitrović by two Swi players....
ReplyDeleteSorry but Mitrovic being penalised is an absolutely wrong call and maybe a penalty missed too?
ReplyDeleteMitrovich's elbow in a defenders face. Foul+Foul= play on
ReplyDeleteFed with all these horrible holdings on PK area and referees who whistle against attacker (Mitrovic) and don’t have braveness to spot on penalty (clear foul with VAR here)...
ReplyDeleteYes I also think that should've been a penalty!
DeleteYou saw replays now. Unbelievable decision here...Cristal Penalty.
DeleteAnd I have to add that i’m an half swiss so very cool with my comments ;) ^^
Delete2 players holding him like in a wrestling match. But since he also used his arms VAR won’t think it’s a penalty..
DeleteUnbelievable with VAR I would say. Not just for human eyes from the doc ;)
DeleteYou're all making the same mistake. Looking at the obvious (holding by Swiss), but not looking at the hidden (foul by Mitrovic at the same time). Maybe you only see the 'cristal' clear things. Good that Mr Brych also saw what was going on at the same time.
DeleteSteve, did you ever try to make a doctorate in university but was not accepted? Maybe because of bad grades? Why envious and ridiculing him for being a Dr?
Delete(you see the irony in my comment, as I even trust you to be able to reach university my friend.. I have a good day today as you see)
In general Brych is doing good job but he cuts the game to much. He whistles some fouls that are not necessary. I would like him to let game flow a bit more
ReplyDeleteAnother perspective showed Mitrović ellbowing Schär during said scene.
ReplyDeleteUffff... Replay shows, clear penalty for SER missed. No.22 SWI grasp Mitrovic with both hands, dont even knoving where the ball is.
ReplyDeleteBoth sides are holding. For me it's more penalty than attacking foul. But it isn't clearly wrong for me. 75/25 penalty. But as I already wrote, no 100% wrong, so it's OK
ReplyDeleteI have watched it again
DeleteYou are perfectly right. But VAR should have told him to have a look at it before playing on.
German humor?
DeleteBenoit, very questionale style of discussion. Calling another opinion 'humor'. You should reflect this.
DeleteJust a little point of...humor. Please be more cool. I can say you that’s your comments are almost very interesting and fine analysed. ;)
Deletewhy do i feel like the politics of assessing is more important than the LOTG?
ReplyDeleteWhy do we have VAR when referee cannot be called and told that he made such a mistake?
ReplyDeleteSerbian player wasn't exactly innocent in that situation. He look to have had Swiss #22 in what kind of looked like a modified headlock. Yes it was 2 on 1. But all 3 players were mutually holding. I would have preferred a "play on" instead of an offensive foul.
ReplyDeleteI understand everyone wanting penalty here but keep in mind the following.
ReplyDeleteI trust a world's best referee that he sees 2 players hold and 'sandwich' an attacker. He saw that. Why did he whistle the other way?
I think because from his perspective (well visible in one of the replays) he saw contact in the face made by Mitrovic's elbow and mutual holding. If he shouts into micro 'I saw holding, but foul by Mitrovic! I am sure!", then VAR will not have to check whether penalty is a better decision but whether perception 'Mitrovic also fouled' is correct. And if he can confirm this, he can confirm the perception, and the decision.
I can support this view but agree that in the big big picture a penalty is more expected and accepted in this case.
But no reason to turn into an OOOOOOMG LOOOOOOOL fashioned style by some of the intellectual lowfliers here again.
LOL.
DeleteAlways happy to make one child happy per day.
DeleteSome people have their wife for this, some drink beer or wine, others troll around in forums and laugh by comments of others, humans are different.
Delete@refinho VAR can intervene even if he thinks Brych's perception is clearly wrong... Whether he has seen it or not doesn't matter as I got that confirmed from FIFA instructors... Zwayer could intervene there if he felt it's a penalty (it clearly was) and that he didn't IMO is a mistake!
DeleteWorld best referee?
DeleteMaybe when Kuipers retires
By the way... the penalty question is my old criticism about Brych. He only gives PK when 100 % sure. Know that from Bundesliga. One reason that for me Aytekin is even better. But still a good performance.
ReplyDeleteRegardless of his calls on the field both teams’ players have great respect for him..,
ReplyDeletehttps://imgur.com/a/Dr2MffL
ReplyDeleteThis situation has whistled Felix Brych immediately.
Can we expect the attacker to be in complete order when two defenders are grappling him down?
DeleteI rarely post and never get involved in the childish disputes but the level of comments and interpretation of incidents is quite frightening.
ReplyDeleteYes football and refereeing is all about opinions and when possible we should look to support officials, even more so when’s it’s one of your favourites. Trying to justify that no penalty call though? Really?
This is a clear penalty. Elbow to the face? After he has four arms holding and one player hugging him while look the opposite direction from the ball!!
If you want to claim the elbow, fine. Then you punish the more serious offence. Penalty. It can’t be any clearer.
Gerry if you read my post carefully you see my clear tendence is also penalty. I only always try to explain or hope for explanations why some decisions are made as they are made, particularly with having a VAR.
DeleteSuggesting the readers above do that because of favorites is too simple.
No no no, there was no criticism there. I was more suggesting Brych is my favourite and I can’t find a way to support that.
DeleteTo improve he could have delayed the restart further to give VAR a real chance to review, I think that’s a major learning from the tournament.
I also mentioned he needs some luck... 1-2 doesn’t help.
Gerry I'm very very sure Mr Zwayer had all time he needed. That was not the case. I rather believe Mr Brych was 100% sure of what he had seen, and Zwayer confirmed what he had seen (foul also my Mitrovic theory)
DeleteThe hand to the face happened when Mitrovic was already felled by two of the defenders grapling him... Sorry but attacker's foul being called is wrong here and it's a clear missed penalty... And it's 2 days in succession that Zwayer has been abysmal as VAR!
Delete84' Missed 2nd YC for Matic?
ReplyDeleteI think no card is supportable, not so promising attack given open space, amout of the defenders and the direction of the play
DeleteFor me ok to give just free kick. Not enough for YC.
ReplyDelete87' Hooray, a YC for dissent in the World Cup!
ReplyDeleteKuipers gave 2 YCs for dissent at the same minute in Brazil v Costa Rica! :D
DeleteHe whistled too much. 5 quick signals every time. For example if the ball is not correctly placed or if he stops play for a substitution etc.
ReplyDeleteAs we are approaching the end my overall impression: Mr Brych has started well, but at some point in half 2 when many decisions made against Serbia he started to lose his line somehow. Not so sure how FIFA see it but this performance has by far not met the standard he managed to display in Champions League recently. One of the most difficult games but in my books only average performance compared to others.
ReplyDeleteSpot on! Fully agreed here, also regarding the penalty.
DeleteBut his disciplonary control I think was impressive on the whole... Basically it is exactly what Irmatov could've done yesterday!
DeleteShould we say that Brych directly influenced the outcome of the game?
ReplyDeleteYes. He did by not giving penalty. The question is whether it was a clear penalty. You have good arguments to say so but please also respect there are some reasons against it.
DeleteIf you think it’s a penalty then yes
DeleteWhat a major blunder by the Serbian defender. Why try to pull Xaquiri (sp?) offside when he's clearly still on his half of the field. That small step forward gave the Swiss player all the advantage that he needed.
ReplyDeleteShaqiri and Xhaka scoring...Brych should be aware of possible mass confrontations!
ReplyDelete... which did not happen due to his good performance and authority cooling the players down esp.in first half! THAT is the way to pretend a card-festival or massconfrontation.
DeleteWhy didnt VAR overrule him if he missed a penalty?
ReplyDeleteMaybe because in Moskva they thought it's not clear or confirmed what Mr Brych had perceived (arm in face / holding also by Mitrovic)
DeleteThe two Swiss defenders grapled Mitrovic down and while falling his arm hit defender's face... That's a crystal clear penalty and never an attacker's foul!
DeleteI am still waiting for the card fest including several players being sent off. As I recall yesterday's discussion - that will always happen if referee shows a couple of YCs in the 1st half...
ReplyDeleteLet it be man. Don't entice confrontation. I made that mistake yesterday.
DeletePeople still won't accept that Irmatov basically failed yesterday
DeleteSoham, i dont know why are you so harsh on us who think that Irmatov did very good job yesterday (excluding Steve and his rhetoric)
DeleteI'm not harsh on anyone... My assessment of Irmatov's performance is that he was weak, inconsistent, no clear line in foul detection, allowed all kinds of unfair conduct and disciplinary control was all over the place... That comment was not my cup of tea!
DeleteAs a 100% neutral viewer, that was an absolutely disgraceful performance
ReplyDeleteToo harsh... But the missed penalty was a match changing stinker sadly :(
DeleteI am not sure that was penalty, in my opinon, mutual holding and pulling. But even if that really wasnt a penalty not so convincing performance by Brych in rest of the match by my taste
ReplyDeleteOverall a good performance. Where Kuipers was "saved" by his VAR Makkelie, Brych on the other hand wasn't saved by the VAR Dankert. I would love to hear one day what they saw and why the made this decision.
ReplyDeleteNow a QF can be possible, but there is a cricial mistake unfortenately because of the missed penalty. Because of the free view on the situation both Brych and Dankert have to be blamed.
The VAR was Mr. Felix Zwayer who abandoned Brych at a crucial time... Not Dankert... Interesting that Zwayer was also the VAR to Irmatov yesterday!
DeletePenalty discussiom on Swedish TV: Jonas Eriksson defends Brych, but slams VAR for not telling referee to do OFR.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Eriksson!
DeleteThe question is: What came first? The Swiss defenders holding him or the ellbow. In my opinion, they should have checked that (maybe they did?).
ReplyDeleteThe defenders clearly held him and felled him down... While falling the hand hit the face... Penalty all day long!
DeleteSo you say and I respect that.
Deletemuch better than yesterday. using the var on that potential pk would have been nice, but overall much better imo
ReplyDeleteI must admit that i am very dissapointed with Brih`s performance. That was obvious refereeing in favour of Switzerland. Not a single caution to Swiss players, Mitrovic was holded by the Swiss players the whole match, not a single foul was given. The Swiss players maked dissent to Brih and the first caution for dissent was for Mitrovic. He obviously made a direct influence at the outcome of the match. Stonewal penalty missed etc.
ReplyDeleteI understand well that you are very disappointed and angry. But from a neutral view we only have one missed YC for a CH-player and a possible, but not given 75%-PK. But hey - Brasil is not unbeattable! And what do you think why only 1 Serbian player complained after the match? The Serbians knew that Brych is anything but not neutral!
DeleteOther Serbian players might not actually have an idea unless they see replays... Only Mitrovic knew what happened there!
DeleteNow Croatian referee expert,Mateo Beusan, was asked why match wasn't dirty like we all thought it would be.
ReplyDeleteHe just said:"Just look at the last 10 minutes in 1st half.
He showed 3 cards deservedly four bookable fouls, and by that he showed how it is gonna be -unlike yesterday."
About penalty,he said that there was no penalty, that Mitrovic was first one who made foul.
Agree with part 1... Disagree with part 2!
Deleteexcellent. he established a line in the sand that the players understood.
Deletevery unlike yesterday.
And yet 22 players finished the match on the pitch. I know, shocking and unthinkable! Lol :D
DeleteIt hurts,realy hurts.
ReplyDeleteI say that as a supporter, please understand me.
About refereeing:
Couldn't belive to my eyes that PK wasn't awarded
... better to say nothing.
@DrMr Really sorry for you... I understand the disappointment... Everyone is Serbia must be feeling the same as it was a clear match changing mistake and VAR did nothing either :(
DeleteIf you can manage, please take a look at the Kuipers thread once, I had posted a few questions for you!
Thanks for the support.
DeleteI'll reply soon
As I wrote 2 days ago, I would much more prefer Kuipers or Cakir instead of Brych. Back in 2013 Brych refereed Serbia-Croatia. Then he missed PK for Serbia and later give very doubtful RC for Matic. Last night Serbian expert Jokic told that Brych admitted his mistakes in that match to him and told he wasn't prepared well for the match. His tonights decision propably eliminated Serbia from WC - with PK Serbia would probably win and tonight pass through, but after his mistake, Serbia can go to 1/8 finals only of beat Brasil, which is not likely.
ReplyDeleteIf Brych's no penalty call is judged as a mistake (which IMO it was) then it's a very, very costly match that has of course influenced the result of the match!!
DeleteMy opinion about the incident, sorry but this evening I didn't manage to watch the whole game properly: it should have been a penalty. I wouldn't blame Brych too much in any case (question of perception), but this is for me Zwayer's mistake. The issue would have been solved with a VAR review. There were 2 players from SUI committing foul on the opponent. I don't know why Zwayer didn't intervene, maybe it was not a common scenario for a VAR intervention, but in my opinion, for sure, a clear one.
ReplyDeletePoint for improvement regarding VAR there, from the pitch you can have a different idea of what has happened.
Until they improve themselves, Serbia would be home! Switzerland got the most from non using VAR in this WC - they scored after foul against Brasil and they were lucky for this penalty. That is 4 points and they will be in 1/8 finals! Injustice!
DeleteVery good conclusion of this interesting match.
DeleteBrych and AR's were very good, except in that situation.
I have to be very careful with my words now. Let me say it that way: About Zwayers role and character there is a big discussion under German Referees. Especially cause he tends to see colleagues as competitors. Before the WC I was shocked to see him in a leading VAR-role after all discussions we had about him as VAR in Bundesliga. So I cannot be 100 % sure about his motives here. On the other side I still stay with the point that tje holding came from Serb player, too.
DeleteYes, it comes.
DeleteJust tell me what player should do in this situation, he's trying to free himself and jump...to put arms down?
Photo of the incident. Clear holding from both Schär and Lichtsteiner, not even mutual.
ReplyDeletehttps://pbs.twimg.com/media/DgUerbVXUAEcBjR.jpg:large
You can also show photos that make it seem the other way. The video is clear enough. If you have good angles in a video then there is no point in showing photos.
ReplyDeleteI agree.
DeleteJust to add, Mitrović was pulled down at the crucial moment. That's the main reason for PK (even if we forget that two defenders are involved)
There is a video of the incident here
ReplyDeletehttps://www.clippituser.tv/c/zkekww
Also many people on twitter posting this image
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DgUbjKIWAAAZu2T.jpg:large
Thank you! It's crystal clear now for me too. Both only hold them and the foul Brych whistled occurs when he tries to free himself. Clear penalty, why the VAR did not react... I have no words.
DeleteInteresting info:
ReplyDeleteSerbia made 7 fouls in 1st half, 3 of them were sanctioned with YC.
comforting to know that after many view, many angles, and much discussion, we are no better off than the 15 seconds the crew had to decide.
ReplyDelete
