  1. On France - Argentina and Uruguay - Portugal :

    Please note the date of the two matches. It is 30 June. Faghani and Geiger have a game on 27 June, Shukralla has a game on 28 June. I don't think any of these 3 referees will be rushed to those games as it's just not possible for them to prepare. So I think Aguilar and Gassama comes into play and on the other hand Argentina has much liking for UEFA refs so maybe Brych or Kuipers there?

    1. I think he will get a QF. If he succeeds in that game he may be a strong candidate for the final.

  4. Many Uefa-Conmebol matches, we would need a fit Irmatov. :(

  5. Can you imagine Gassama directly into a Round of 16 game after only one appearance in group stage? Very difficult, if you ask me.
    However, if confederations (unwritten) rule will be applied for all games, we should indeed have some surprises... under this point of view, as I already stated, Irmatov in such form is for sure a big problem for committee.

  6. Congratulations for mr Çakir, he is calmest referee in the world.

    About first penalty: No penalty for me, mutual holding, Mitrović pushed both defenders.

    About second penalty situation:
    That's never penalty IMO, because ball change direction after contact with defender's head.
    So, correct decision

    Generally, I see Turkish referee in some other hot clash (QF) or directly in the semis.
    Cheers!

    3. I didn't understand this one with Mitrović.

      And guys, Cakir doesn't deserve final, come on. There are much better refs here. If we compare Ricchi and Cakir - Ricchi presented far better performances, he was respected, correct decisions... IMO he is well ahead of Cakir. >If Serbia (hopefully) eliminate Brasil, he is no. 1 so far.

    4. @Teo
      It's simple. Penalty is awarded for holding, right?

  7. If Kuipers isn't penalised, then I'm sure he will feature in a R16 game... Maybe Spain v Russia?

    2. We could have
      * 4 Uefa - Conmebol
      * 2 Uefa - Uefa
      * 1 Afc - Uefa
      * 1 Concacaf - Uefa
      ***
      So, 2 referees Uefa, 2 referees Conmebol and the other 4? Faghani, Geiger, Ramos? Irmatov? Gassama? Diedhiou? Shukralla? Conger?

  9. Abitro Internacional reports that Busacca and Collina wanted Abdulrahman Al-Jassim to referee Panama v Tunisia which was not accepted by the rest of the Committee. So Shukralla had to be put in there and that's why the change in 4th official of Brazil v Serbia.

  10. Very good game by Mr Cakir. Consistent. Acts with dignity and firmness. PK and YCs are correct. Only negative aspect is the way he neglected Mascherano’s bleeding and repeated yelling in second half. The big picture: real solid performance.
