  2. 21st min. Wrong corner/ missed foul SEN. Not the first error conc.foul detection in a so far easy game.

  3. Not a very concentrated start by the Italian trio to my mind.

But still without problems in this amicable match so far

  4. Missed YC ag. JPN/ Holding for more than 10 meters...

  5. Clear holding Sakai 32nd min
    Rocchi far away. No reaction.

  6. No big mistakes, but not convinced so far. Agree with Andrash on the holding incident, it also feels like there are a lot of small fouls he doesn't whistle. Lenient style ok, but some of them seemed clear. Just my opinion though.

  7. 54' interesting situation: possible hand to the face of attacking SEN player. Foul could be called.

    1. It was an elbow and it was a clear foul and yellow card not something that ”could be called”. It MUST be called.

  8. If you refer to the situation involving Niang foul was called and YC issued

    1. 57' one more hand to the face from SEN player. Foul called and YC issued. Thank you Luca.

  9. Rocchi's general line is way to leniant - and he does not even consequently follow it. Not enough for ko-matches, but there is still the good italian uncle in the background...

    1. Isn't this getting too far? I have been reading too many unproved and clearly biased accusations such as this one...
Unless the so-called 'good italian uncle' has also some Polish and German ancestors, considering how protective he seems to be of other poorly performing refs like Marciniak and Brych.

    2. I like his line. Detection could be a bit better, but overall good performance

    3. Agree, but Marciniak and Brych are acceptable, at least.
I can’t accept that Rocchi is considered a “protected” referee (when he’s really talented) when Marrufo is defined a big talent and Turpin (awful!) ready for the KO stage.

Andrasch, even Italy’s Serie D referees are better than US, Africa and Asian referees, cause the championships they referee are comparable to Italy’s Serie D, no more!!!

      Oh God...

    4. This is nothing but the typical post-colonial european arrogance. Refs like Gassama or Faghani could well handle CL-League matches.
What is missing is an exchange of the toprefs from different associations to get used to the differences in style and tempo of the games. That is why only the absolute toprefs from Africa or Asia or Concacaf are a bit behind. But hey, just remember the very bad performances in CL and EL this year. Absolutely no reason to point with fingers to refs from other continents!!!
And Conmebol-Toprefs are not at all behind European colleages!

    5. ...are not a bit behind!!! Sorry

    6. I totally agree and made the same comment earlier in the week. Set up an Elite World panel and get them refereeing all round the world

  10. So ridicoulous to read these comments...
Rocchi is far better than the majority of the referees involved in this WC, used to referee very hard matches in Italy.

Anyway, the fact that you consider Turpin better than Rocchi for the ko stage and Marrufo a big talent is quite a good signal of what is your capacity to judge referees quality...

  11. We saw many leniant approaching.... Maybe it is recommended?

  12. That does not interest. The rules were not changed and the remarks of Busacca and Collina before WV started were remarkably strict.

  13. I expect Rocchi for at least a Round of 16 match!

  14. In my opinion it was just an expected level for Rocchi, nothing to add. Match was not so really demanding in terms of crucial decisions. He will surely appear in KO stage.

    1. Totally agree.
      Minimum a match.
Since Italy is not present, if his performances will be good, he is going to go far in this WC..

      Delete
    2. Possible because he acted much better in the last 30 minutes. And because he is protected.

      Delete
    3. No. Just because he's better than Mateu, Marciniak, Turpin, Caceres, etc.

  15. Agree woth both of you.
    Expected level.
LotG are 1 thing. Apllying, tactical approach and management are something else.

  16. Normal game for Rocchi, style with the WC instructions "try to manage everything without cards", accepted by players. Good game for him, nobody will speak about the referee this time. Next round for him expected. It is good that the referee who opened the tournament will go further, not like 2014.

    1. The question if we talk about a ref after s gane tells very little about his performance. It is just good or bad luck if you have to decide very difficult incidents in match-defining and critical moments. Especially when more than one decision is possible. That is why Felix Brych's performance and - that I say with distance after rewatching yesterdays game - Marciniak were still good.
Turpin got my trust in CL and EL this year and he definitely proved big success there
In Italy... well that is my personal taste but I trust Orsato and esp. Banti, Di Bello more.

  17. Overall solid, expected level for me. Surely at least a match in the Round of 16, depending on how that goes, more is definitely possible.
