AR1 missed a careless/reckless foul in min ‘1 in front of him.
ReplyDeleteNot so far away from SFP in my view!
DeleteWhat a start! Instantly reminded me of Atlético - Barcelona 2014 with Howard Webb. And Kuipers displayed excellent emotional intelligence at 11' too.
I agree Mikael. Reckless challenge, should be a YC. But Kuipers cannot be blamed. This is responsibility of AR.
Delete1' and 11' important moments so far.
DeleteKuipers stoped the play himself at the 10th. Well handled
ReplyDeleteVery nice moment for Eriksen. Goosebumps and this is why football united.
ReplyDeleteThis was a great moment for this tournament and we all continue for Eriksen’s complete and swift recovery. I do however hope the UEFA bug wigs were hanging their heads in shame at this gesture… especially after hearing the conflicting views that the Danes were ‘forced’ to play on in Saturday night. This was shameful and will be the worst decision taken / made during this Euro Championships.
DeleteWith his blatant incompetence and reluctance to show mandatory cards Kuipers will soon inflame the match to an extreme level... Just wait a bit...
ReplyDeleteOh wait ! Kuipers' haters is back
DeleteI don't hate Kuipers - I don't like him AND ALL THE REFEREES who think that the laws of the game are not written for them.
DeleteCircumstances matter. And sometimes it's better to relax certain rules.
DeleteYep, I agree - SOMETIMES but not during your whole career. That's why I say that he is incompetent and does not feel the game - he referees all the game in one way. And if it is OK for the games in Netherlands, it is ridiculous for the most European matches.
DeleteHahaha go ahead and just act like fools. Kuipers has shown for years that his style works in the big matches. For me his team as a whole is GOATING for years.... the fact that more than half of the comments here are nothing less than bashing says it all to me. Great officiating by Kuipers so far in a match that is "only" challanging at an emotional level so far
DeleteThat's why he is widely seen as the best referee in the world currently? I think your logic is flawed...
DeleteThanks for the last comment Anonymous ! All agree !
DeleteStop Kuipers' haters. Please, be objective. He make mistakes (sometimes big, unfortunately), as all referees at this level. It's normal.
He's 48 and he's better than many ref.
I guess the reasons why he's got a CL final, two EL finals, one FIFA U20 final, one Confederations cup final, one UEFA U21 final and a UEFA U17 final are either there are a lot of incompetent people in the committees or that his styles suits a lot of matches. Your choice.
DeleteKuipers put his hand up to block the sun at one point. Why doesn't FIFA allow referees to wear hats? I understand that they don't look so good, but their usefulness in blocking the sun should outweigh that.
ReplyDeleteHats also obstruct the field.of vision somewhat. They might be useful for ARs facing a low blinding sun but I'm not so sure for a referee
DeleteInteresting point. Duly noted.
DeleteI think there was foul on Danish player uncalled there, as contact began with player and then the ball.
ReplyDeleteMissed corner for denmark.
ReplyDeleteYes corner missed, ball rebounds from the back of the defender. And before a foul missed on Denmark defender. He can be happy no goal from this free kick.
DeleteGood first half of Kuipers. So far not difficult with less fouls and respectful play. I expect a more challenging second half. Only footnote I can make is that Kuipers could be more active in positioning and movement. He walks a lot, something that Brych and Lahoz are doing better. But this has no influence on his decision-making.
ReplyDeleteTechnically speaking not the best performance by Kuipers. Rather a lot of minor mistakes in foul detection, corner vs. goal kick decisions. Nothing important to report but also nothing to ignore. Indeed full match control.
ReplyDeleteLet me also say that in German Bundesliga, Danish player would have got a YC for kicking the ball away.
Perhaps because he follows a little too far away of play? Some accelerations and sprints would bring him more close to the situations.
DeleteSome small mistakes, but overall fine. Not as much convincing like Brych. However, nothing major to add. That’s most important.
ReplyDeleteI don’t think this was a foul, but free kick blocked so no problem
ReplyDeleteIn the world of modern referee, mistake is mistake, independent of that does that affect on game or not. Of course, it is minor mistake if not affect on game. Something more that I would like to express is very low level of running and movement of Kuipers. This is not final referee shape.
DeleteIt was a clear foul though. In the second replay you could see that the defender was clearly pulling the attackers jersey.
DeleteMagnificent goal Belgium !
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately another wrong foul detection. Defender Belgium played clearly the ball and Denmark player committed the foul. Aggressive protest of Belgium players can’t be tolerated.
ReplyDeleteKuipers wouldn't book any player in any game. Is that refereeing or just walking around?
ReplyDeleteIt’s refereeing because anyone else would lose control
Delete+1
DeleteCorrect YC.
ReplyDeleteGood YC on 59' in order to calm down everything.
ReplyDeleteNow missed YC for Belgium after reckless kick on the shin. Why this angry face? Just give a YC which would be justified.
ReplyDeleteGood communication with AR1 on 66'
ReplyDeleteExcellent call simulation!
ReplyDeleteExcellent YC for diving. Mandatory.
ReplyDeleteCorrect yellow card by Kuipers
ReplyDeleteGood YC for simulation
ReplyDeletePhantom foul on goal keeper..
ReplyDeleteHe was stepped on the foot, what are you talking about?
Delete82’ yellow card for SPA is absolutely the expected call but I don’t really agree with it. The ball was definitely rolling out of play and there was nothing the attacker could have done to save it.
ReplyDeleteWhatever Kuipers will do, good performance according to this blog.
ReplyDeleteI would be as good as him.
Please, stop your nonsense comments!!
DeleteWhy don’t you give us examples from this game and what you would have changed? Maybe Kuipers will read it and take your tips with him for his next game
DeleteObviously it's usually also a good performance according to the committee. Otherwise he wouldn't be appointed for all the top matches..
DeleteWhy? Did you ever read poor performance by Kuipers? Never. Impossible, because he is perfect. That's not fair.
DeleteI mean Kuipers was criticised for a number of his performances towards the end of the season and rightly so. There's something silly about criticising the cult of Kuipers while being un-objective about the decisions being made in this game to fit your own agenda.
DeleteAnonymous, I would look toward the Juventus Porto Second leg. It was definitely a challenging game but people on the blog were rather objective of his shortcomings that match. I think with more time and experiences and good performance over a career, it’s sometimes easier to overlook the minor mistakes compared to the larger body of work. Obviously mistakes should be avoided and corrected.
DeleteIMO Kuipers controlled the game well. No major mistakes and a correct simulation decision. All cards correctly given, two YC’s missed. Besides this some issues in foul detection and could have been stronger in protest approach. But most important nobody will speak about refereeing. I would rate his performance as expected, but based on today’s performance not enough yet for a final.
ReplyDeleteWell, Kuipers was correct, but I don't think that this kind of performance is contender for Euro final. Very low running performance, positioning could be better. Rappalini impressed me more today.
ReplyDeleteRappalini will at most get quarterfinal, it would be insult to strength of european refs to have HIM take their spot. Same goes for the European ref at copa america
ReplyDeleteGood performance by Kuipers. Not perfect indeed, but for me it is very clear that Kuipers can only loose the final in case of crucial mistakes. When he continues on this level, there is no doubt in my mind that Rosetti will choose him because of his whole career... even if i too agree that Brych impressed me a bit more until now
ReplyDeleteAgreed
DeleteWhy are we assuming that Kuipers has been preselected for the final? In my opinion he is not the most deserving, after somewhat poor champions league form at the end of this season. He did excellent today of course, but there have been so many excellent performances by referees so far this tournament too. So many referees deserve to be in consideration for this final, not just Kuipers.
DeleteWe can act as if there is no preselection and the most deserving ref gets it (imo that would be rappalini). However Orsatos CL nomination in 2020 showed that this is utopic
DeleteGreat performance by Kuipers today, good to see a “classic” Bjorn Kuipers performance after some of his last few CL matches just didn’t feel the same.
ReplyDeleteWhat was wrong with his champions league performances?
DeleteI can't put my finger on exactly what it was (maybe others can remember better than me?) but it just didn't feel like his normal masterful self. It didn't feel like he was as alert as normal.
DeleteOf course, a below-par Kuipers performance is still a good game at the end of the day.
I don't see why he shouldn't be awarded the final match. Some of you criticised him mentioning the CL matches. In that sense, Karasev shouldn't have been at the Euro in first place.
ReplyDeleteGood, solid performance from Kuipers. Not outstanding, not absolutely stellar, but he was solid. I thought there was at minimum a foul in 1' and I think he misinterpreted the first foul by Wass in 2H, which he gave the other way, but no major mistakes and overall no one will talk about him after the game. Expected level, nothing more, nothing less.
ReplyDeleteIt says a lot about the excellent standard of refereeing so far at the Euros that this was on the whole an average performance.
Watched the game live at the stadium today. From there, a good performance. Only major issue was the lack of consequence regarding time wasting. Two situations:
ReplyDelete1. Cortuis got fouled when Belgium was up 1-2. Free kick and seemed like he was hurt. Help is called in. Cortuis then clearly signals to the doctors that they should slow down. So they walked in to help him. A difficult situation to handle, but quite unsportsmanlike from Belgium.
2. Cortuis took very long time with every goalkick after the 1-2 goal. Kuipers clearly signaled that he should speed up. At a point, he took his focus of the game dor about 10 seconds to communicate to Cortuis that he actually meant it. But what happened? Nothing. Cortuis kept on being very slow and just laughed of Kuipers' attempt to make him speed up. I counted 7 times were Kuipers signaled that he should speed up. No consequence.
For me, this is not understandable. Kuipers will referee Cortuis many times and Kuipers has now signaled to him that he does not need to take Kuipers' management serious.
Off topic: Uefa was so unsensitive with their handling of such a sensitive match. " let's watch the highlights from Denmark's last match" just before the game and then showing the images of Eriksen getting treated. Why would you do that?
Calm, strong control, as usual. Respected by players. YCs correct including good card for diving.
ReplyDeleteCouple of wrong free kicks but generally accurate. No YC for dissent - number of Belgium ‘discussing’ his (wrong) FK decision. Didn’t need it for control but tournament aim was to be firm with dissent. Needed??
Don’t understand the fitness comments? Fast-paced game at times but was right up with play, into penalty area even, where needed.
Another solid, good performance - Referee team will be very happy.
Great performance by Kuipers. Loved the simulation call.
