Can we have the results of predictions
ReplyDeleteYes they are now done, but please be aware that collecting all the predictions and awarding the points for so many participants isn't done in five minutes.
DeleteAR2 missed offside from De Ligt.
ReplyDeleteAnother potential offside but not given by AR2
DeleteSo far, so good for Karasëv. Very good recognition of foul offences.
ReplyDeleteDuring the waterbreak Dutch players left the field of play and Frappart just ignored that
ReplyDeleteIs this too important?!
DeleteAnd? Is that a crime?
DeleteWow really? What a shame. For this big mistake they should remove her during HT 🙄
DeleteI don't see how she is supposed to get water for the referee & two assistants as well as keep an eye on 22 players & 2 benches all at the same time. Give her a break.
DeleteIs that a serious comment? So, during waterbreak, with game stopped, players are not allowed to left the field for a while?
DeleteI'm missing something! Could you elaborate please?
Players aren't really supposed to leave the field of play without the referee's permission. Punishable with a yellow card
DeleteInteresting thats the same VAR english crew from Ita.Aut are also doing this game ...and please stop with missed offside, the AR are coached to not flag and let the play naturally progress because of VAR. This way no true goals ever get called back. They are doing what Uefa wants
ReplyDeleteNo we shouldn’t stop with ‘missed offside’. They should DELAY, meaning that if they think it’s an offside, they should signal so after the attack. If they don’t, we can still speak about a missed offside.
Delete@Jordan Van Geyn Referee this info you are reporting is absolutely wrong, jleekens is right. Indeed we had some corrections afer some wrong offsides correctly raised at the end of the action. You should be sure about your sources, before writing something.
DeleteIf assistant referees had to operate like you are saying, then why having them on the field? Everything would be decided by VAR...
I think a solid perfomance by Karasev. Its his opportunity after Ivanov to have a big match in euro.
ReplyDeleteNow a very clear offside missed by AR2.
ReplyDeleteAnother missed offside from AR2
ReplyDeleteSanchez Martinez, Letexier, Pagès and Pinheiro are the only VARs not appointed in R16, while the Germans Dankert, Dingert and Gittelmann are appointed three times.
ReplyDeleteDid UEFA send them home "with" Lahoz, Turpin and Dias?
Brisard is also not appointed in R16
DeleteAnd it seems quite possible indeed that they have left Nyon.
Letexier / Pinheiro have only worked with Turpin / Soares Dias as main VAR, while Sanchez and Brisard never worked as main VAR.
And 4 offside VARs are probably enough to cover the remaining matches.
Also Brisard isn't appointed. There seems to be a connection to the reported referees who were sent home.
DeleteExpected level by Karasev in first half, hardly a challenging game for him. I wait for a more interesting second half.
ReplyDeleteWatching the first half I finally were able to formulate what makes the Russian at this tournament very special. From the very beginning of the game he becomes "invisible" and lets the game just flow. His level of foul detection is so clear that both fans and players enjoy every second of the game.On the other hand, when the interruption is needed you hear his whistle and remember that he's actually here, in control of everything.
ReplyDeleteThe best of luck to Karasev in the second half. It won't be an easy one!
Correct YC for NED22 (reckless elbow)
ReplyDeleteAgreed, but for the purposes of consistently punishing reckless offences in 40. a reckless stamp by CZE15 was not punished with a caution.
DeleteThis is controversial now
ReplyDeleteWhat do you guys think
DeleteI'm dutch and was aghast at De Ligt's decision to let the ball bounce - he was then asking for trouble and got deservedly punished.
DeleteI was genuinely surprised that Karasaev gave De Ligt a yellow card in the first instance - it seemed like he knew he did something wrong, but couldn't tell what. Well done to the VAR team for correcting the mistake.
The only question was whether Schick committed a foul - for me, these incidents have gone unpunished all tournament so this was consistent and therefore justified.
I'm not complaining as De Ligt should know better that do what he did.
Side note as a fan - Malen should have scored earlier to ease the burden
Possible missed foul by attacker before the big chance for NED. Then, a few later YC for SPA, deliberate handball, but it was a possible DOGSO.
ReplyDeleteCorrect OFR and RC for DOGSO. This was my first impression in real speed too. We have to praise VAR for the intervention, I was not sure whether he would do that. But there are no real arguments against a RC.
DeleteGood intervention by VAR.
ReplyDeleteYe making Karasev go to the monitor and make the right decision
DeleteAnother correct YC
ReplyDeleteFully correct OFR and RC for DOGSO. No chances for the other defender from NED to intervene, this was the only possible reason for YC.
ReplyDeleteI praise the English officials working in Nyon.
He didn’t cancel the yellow card first. He seemed a bit nervous while going to the monitor. Anyway very good intervention by VAR.
ReplyDeleteSure, tiny error of procedure there, although it doesn't really matter: everyone knows what happened, and the report will reflect that. On 'nervousness', I think he simply forgot for a second where the monitor was, it's not always at the same place in all stadiums.
DeleteWhy should he cancel the YC? It looks very odd to make gestures with the YC again. If he shows the RC immediately, it is clear for everyone.
DeleteThat’s the VAR protocol. If you are changing given decision, you need to cancel it first and show to players and fans.
DeleteI said he was nervous because he was telling De Ligt that he showed the red card by handling the ball. But everyone knew it already, it’s just DOGSO.
Correct decision IMO, RC after OFR. The defender denies a clear goal scoring opportunity, as the attacker would very likely come to a shot on goal without the handling offence.
ReplyDeleteLutz Wagner, DFB referee instructor, assessed the decision as SUPPORTABLE in the German TV, mainly because of the closeness to the penalty area.
If VAR intervened, should be the correct one, not only supportable...
DeleteNo, he said red is possible. "It is an optional decision, not a must-decision."(54:30)
DeleteI had the feeling that he indirectly questioned the need of a VAR intervention. As a conclusion, Wagner called the sending-off "vertretbar" (= supportable/defendable). I'm not too sure, how commitee will assess this incident.
DeleteFirst VAR intervention of the tournament for a straight RC to be issued.
ReplyDeleteIMO a very harsh decision to give a RD. Defender was in front of the attacker, no control yet by the attacker and if you go for OFR then a direct free kick for defender due pushing would have been the most appropriate decision. A RC should be 100% clear and that isn’t the case here. Also the position of the foul doesn’t make it a DOGSO.
ReplyDeleteKarasev after OFR should cancel YC at first and then show RC, he didnt do that and its like de Ligt got both YC + RC.
ReplyDeleteIt was clear because the reason for the OFR was to change the YC to a RC. He doesn't have to cancel the YC in a visible way, this would only be one way of communication.
DeleteThats the VAR crew all refs from the PREM. They are the best, if they call Karasev over...it had to be RC
ReplyDeleteCorrect RC after OFR for DOGSO.
ReplyDeleteand now... will come Lawaj and say that "it's too harsh" :))
Now a silent check for a penalty, handball, I missed this incident. Play allowed to continue. It is turning in a very challenging game for Karasev, totally different from first half.
ReplyDeleteVAR interventions are now increasing, in KO Stage more than 1 per game so far, in 3 Round of 16 games, 1 in WAL - DEN, 2 in ITA - AUT, 1 in NED - CZE.
ReplyDeleteIndeed but two (or actually three, if you consider the potential penalty check for AUT an offside intervention) interventions were for offside positions. So we cannot really say that VARs tend to intervene earlier.
Delete0–1 for CZE, good message for Kuipers. Karasev with a good performance so far, also great work from Nyon.
ReplyDeleteOne of the most challenging of the tournament for a referee. If Karasev wants another appointment he has to prove his capability of dealing with such games.
ReplyDeleteMhh interesting situation before the cooling break. Not VAR stuff, but maybe Karasev could have whistled it. Should be rewatched.
ReplyDeleteAbout VAR procedure: if Karasev found that there was a foul on Netherlands’ defender, could he whistled a foul instead of deciding whether it was YC or RC? I ask that because he was called for an OFR just because of the colour of the card. There was pushing, and because of that push (as he was falling) de Ligt played with the hand.
ReplyDeleteAfter he watched he could whistle foul by Czech player but he didn’t. But VAR called the referee for potential red card by DOGSO.
DeleteYes, but VAR should already have checked that. If they thought, there was a clear foul by the attacker (or missed incident), they should have shown it to Karasev in the OFR.
DeleteWrong. The referee can decide what he wants, even in case VAR thinks only about a certain incident. Referee has no obligations, if he detects something else during OFR, he can take all decisions.
DeleteYes, but if the relevant angles are not shown to him, because the VAR didn't see anything wrong with the challenge, the referee can hardly do something about it. That's what I meant.
DeleteIf the referee already has the idea of a missed foul, he could indeed ask the VAR about it, that's right.
Karasev looks a bit lost to me after the OFR, without loosing it... With this potential result at least the dutch team wouldnt stop Kuipers again
ReplyDeleteClever referee gives a defensive DFK.
ReplyDeleteVAR Protocol: once called for an OFR, the referee can decide everything about the situation. The key incidents (penalty, red card, mistaken identity and offside) stay as the reasons for opening an OFR but nothing more. Referee is totally free then.
ReplyDeleteNow Kuipers is back on the game.
ReplyDeleteBut only if he shows a very good performance in his next game. His two matches so far were not good enough for a final appointment.
Delete+1
DeleteThere are ať least 5 referees with better performances than Kuipers. Hope UEFA Will delegate the referee for the final based on performances, not on Bjorn's name.
DeleteKarasev has had a great game
ReplyDeleteAlso, credit to the VAR team
ReplyDeleteSo, Karasev can be satisfied, Kuipers can be happy and UEFA is well (a scenario in which a preferred referee is unavailable because all Nations reached semi-final is gone now).
ReplyDeleteGreat Karasev he allowed Kuipers to referee Wembley final!
ReplyDeletefrom what we have seen from kuipers so far, a final appointment would not be deserved. he now has the chance to show his world class in the quarter finals.
DeleteMaybe no Kuipers in QF and direct SF like Eriksson in France five years ago.
DeleteBased on his three very good performances, Karasev deserves another game. At the very least, a QF.
ReplyDeleteThe next appointments for Kuipers will be Denmark v Czech Republic in QFs and then the final.
ReplyDeleteyou think he will whistle the next game of the team that knocked the netherlands out of the tournament?
DeleteIf Kuipers get the final, IT Will be clear signál from UEFA that performances and current form are not important.
DeleteDefender pushes attacker and then the goalkeeper collides with his own player - somehow it's a free kick against the attacker!
ReplyDeleteOffside.
DeleteExcellent display by Karasev in my view. His foul detection shown in the tournament is a big strength in his performances. He was able to connect with the players better than some month ago, definetly one of the big surprises.
ReplyDeleteThe cautions issued today were very good and the RC after OFR was also correct in my book. Well done!
+1 :)
DeleteAgreed! I've seen such a different Karasev in the last two weeks compared to the last two season, especially in terms of attitude and management style. A pleasant surprise!
DeleteExcellent refereeing today. Team Karasev just sent a message to UEFA: we want more.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Mr. Sergey Gennadyevich Karasev for a great tournament, who could have imagined it like 10 months ago!
ReplyDeleteEven 2 months ago, when he was just not ready for Germany - North Macedonia!
DeleteTruly a very good performance by him today, YC/RC for handball situation aside.
Karasev has great tournament, but still one big mistake which had to be corrected by VAR. Anyway very solid performance.
ReplyDeleteKarasev proves he is ready for a very challenging game. He hasn’t lost control even for a minute. Rosetti should be proud of the Russian. He deserves another game.
ReplyDeleteIn such situations, will the referee be penalized for initially missing the red card for DOGSO or will he be praised for using VAR correctly? What are the UEFA guidelines?
ReplyDeleteIt depends on whether RefCom think that Karasyov should've assessed it correctly at real time. In my opinion he should have and it was a bad mistake by him in otherwise a good performance (1-2 YCs more to CZE would be optimal).
DeleteShowing immediately the yellow card following the whistle proves that Karasev has observed the action by De Ligt and that he considered the action by De Ligt as NO DOGSO. That's a mistake (!) and this under the eyes of Rosetti
DeleteIMO, end of tournament for Karasev.
I think if referee makes a mistake and VAR has to correct him, it should be still mistake.
ReplyDeleteJust give a free kick for a push.
ReplyDeleteAnyway: Kuipers for the final. What ever happens and how good Brych will be tonight. It’s already decided before the tournament.
Farewell Brych disappointed.
So you think if Kuipers Will missed another two penalties, He still can get the final? Don't think so.
DeleteIvanov was better than Karasev for me. No comparison.
