  1. I really really hope Taylor does not spoil this game.

  2. Correct decision to deny the goal

  3. WOW, oustanding offside call by AR1, otherwise we should have discussed that handball, and it would have been very controversial!

  4. Oh, no. Missed handling call led to goal.

  5. Excellent call by Gary Beswick!!!! Wonderful , that’s good

  6. Another excellent call from AR2!!!! Wow we are being treated to an absolute excellent calls from the 2 ARs

  7. Wasn't that clear studs to ankle in the box? How was it not a YC?

  8. Another excellent decision by AR1!

  9. Wow!!! ARs are having a field day, this has been an excellent performance all round

  10. Not so much to do for Taylor in first half, but 3 minutes is wrong decision in my opinion, he should have assigned 4 or more.

  11. The whole English team putting in the very best performance of the tournament so far.

  12. Anthony Taylor has just officiated the best 45mins of his career.
Thumbs up to both ARs as well.

And of course, excellent football on top of all that.

    1. There was really nothing in that first half, the two teams focused on playing which helped Taylor with little or no decisions to make, not really challenging for him but for his assistants they have enabled it to be one of the performances of the whole tournament so far, without those Onside/offside call it would have just been a normal and expected performance

  13. Good performance shown by Taylor so far. Not so much to do for him, but everything went well so far.
Additionally, one should point out the excellent work by the ARs in the first half (especially Gary Baswick)!

  14. This is a day that both Taylor's assistant referees will never forget.
    Outstanding!

  15. Now a serious mistake by Taylor. Free kick near the German Box for a foul that did not exist!(52min)

    1. Yes, no contact at all, thank God it lead to nothing

    2. Serious mistake? No way. Foul for me.

    3. Not only it is not a serious mistake but it is a totally correct decision.

    4. What offence do both Anonymouses above think to have seen?

  16. Not an extremely difficult case even for VAR, not clear whether there was a header or not, otherwise offside. Without clear evidence, goal allowed. I wouldn't have liked to see AR1 to be overruled today! He didn't deserve that :)

    1. Exactly!!!! 7 goal decisions correctly evaluated, one offside and 6 goals allowed, this has been impeccable by far the best all round performance in this tournament!!

    2. There was a close replay and indeed there wasn't a header. Goal correctly allowed.

  17. The English team continues to deliver a masterclass. Very sober, excellent control. ARs spot on.

  18. What's the difference between the goal disallowed for Germany in the first half and the second goal of Portugal?
Both players attacked the ball and none of them touched it, so somewhere could be a problem.

    ReplyDelete

    1. The second one wasn’t in an offside position so he could clearly go for the ball without any issue while the first one be Gnabry was that he went for the ball when he was in an offside position

      Delete
    2. In the latter case it wasn’t Jota being in an offside position at the moment of the free kick, it were his two fellow attackers on the right at the moment Jota tried to head the ball. As Jota apparently did not touch the ball while trying to head, there was no offside.

      Delete
    3. The offside considerations:
      - did the offside player interfered with play by playing the ball?
      - did the offside player interfered with an opponent?
      - did the offside player get an advantage by being in an offside position?

      Delete
    4. Could someone explain which one of these 3 considerations led to the German goal being disallowed and why?

      Delete
    5. The German attacker interfered with an opponent by “clearly attempting to play the ball which is close when this action impacts on an opponent (i.e. Portuguese goalkeeper).”

      Delete
    6. It is interesting that the Portuguese players (including the goalkeeper) did not claim such an impact, but Muller's handball. Taylor was the one telling them about the offside, according to the TV images.

      Delete
    7. Waiting to take decisions to see whether or not players are going to claim offenses doesn’t seem the right thing to do in my view. We can’t decide to allow the goal because players were claiming the wrong scene.

  19. Taylor ready for a third match in this tournament. 1/8 or 1/4 finale!

  20. Clear YC missed to Sanches for kicking the ball.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Sorry, but how can Renato Sanches get away without being cautioned after his BLATANT kicking the ball away…?

  22. What Del Cerro can do Taylor can do better, ending the match 35 seconds early :)

    2. What are you talking about?? Final whistle was blown at 94' SHARP.

    3. Apologies! My broadcaster had been fooling around when added time started and I fooled along with them :) I happily stand corrected!

  23. Now Taylor really made his case for something big in this tournamento. Kuipers, Taylor or Cakir, as it stands, are good candidates for the final.

    ReplyDelete
  24. The lack of YC for dissent by action in 90' was very poor but the rest was very good :) Anthony Taylor & Co. with another strong performance and I'm sure he confirmed himself as one of the candidates to handle the final (if English National Team allows it).

  25. Taylor all the way through to SFS or final.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Considering Taylors quick thinking and calmness during the eriksen incident in md1 and his great performance today is he now an early candidate for the final

    ReplyDelete

    1. I would consider him for a SF. For me Kuipers and Brych are still ahead. Also because Clatts already got the last EC final. (Should not count against Taylor but I think it does)

      Delete
    2. I would never assign Brych for a EURO final because it would ultimaly end up with 18 players instead of 22.

      Delete
    3. Like in the final of the German Cup?

      Delete
    4. Like in the 2017 CL final (unnceessary red card) and a lot of other important games.

Right now, by heart, can remember Brych totally ruining FC Porto-Juventus in CL in February 2017 leaving FC Porto with 10 players before 30'. Everyone shocked by the decision. Simply ridiculous. No wonder he's never made it to KO stage in a WC. He was instructed to start understanding the game and the players. He's refrained from showing cards indiscriminately but still not up to snuff.

No one wants a EURO final ruined by a card festival.

      Delete
    5. If we reward refs for their performances from 4 years ago, then good night. I criticized Brych myself clearly that time, but he learned from that and that's why his performances last and this year were between good and excellent. If you ask me who should be given the final, I would still give it to Kuipers, if possible, in the 2nd row or HF for me Turpin!, Brych, Cakir, Taylor, Lahoz, Vincic.

    6. Let's agree to disagree then.

  27. Mr Taylor was really good but one should also emphasize the brilliant job done by his ARs. It was crucial for the outcome. I can see this team officiating at Wembley on 11th July.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Very good performance by Taylor today. He had control over the match, which was quite unchallenging. The ARs continued their excellent performance in the 2nd half.
Taylor surely recommended himself for further appointments in the KO phase.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Taylor for final??? I highly doubt it it is quite impossible considering the fact that an English man took charge of the Final on which Taylor was AAR1!! At best he is getting a semi Final

    ReplyDelete
  30. Solid job by Anthony Taylor in Munich, but can we just take a moment to appreciate the OUTSTANDING work tonight by the assistant referees: Gary and Adam, you were amazing tonight!

    ReplyDelete
  31. The final is assigned to Kuipers, reported by various readers of this blog. There is no discussion about other candidates.

    1. And who is assigned to kick the Netherlands out of the tournament according to them?

    2. Anyone who gets 3rd in group F ;)

  32. Good, expected level performance by Anthony Taylor. Good management of the players (his only minus is the missed YC for dissent at 90'). Match was of normal difficulty for the referee and very difficult for both AR's. Both was excellent.

I think that a R16 or QF appointment is justified.
