Matchday 2 Round for our predictions game about EURO 2020 referees.
You have to guess the exact referee for each game by filling in a form. Just insert your name, or, if you want, a nickname and then for each game just select the referee. If you have already played for MD1, please use the same name. We can't ensure too many efforts if you send predictions with a different name than the previously used one. If you are new and you want to have yout first try, you are welcome!
Send your predictions here:
*TIME IS OVER*
The deadline for all games of Matchday 2 will be Monday 14 June 2021, 09:59 AM CET. Unless extraordinary announcement by federations the same day a few time before the official releasement by UEFA, in that case of course we couldn't accept your names. So the suggestion is not to wait the very last minutes to avoid troubles. The predictions sent after that (official time will be checked) will not be accepted in any case.
Points will be assigned according to the following pattern:
10 points for having guessed the exact referee of a match
5 points if a guessed referee for a game will be appointed as fourth official
2 points if a referee is appointed in the other game of the group
1 point if a referee is appointed for the same matchday
England-Croatia Danielle Orsato, Netherlands-Ukraine Dr Felix Brych

I think it`s very clear how uefa would rank the referees for euro (not necessarily in this order):
ReplyDelete1-3 Kuipers, Brych, Lahoz
4-6 Orsato, Makkelie, Taylor
7-11 Turpin, Vincic, Hategan, Del Cerro, Cakir
12-14 Kovacs, Karasev, Dias
15-18 Oliver, Ekberg, Grinfeeld, Siebert
Agree, I would swap Taylor with Turpin. Maybe Orsato is in the middle between 1-3 and 4-6.
DeleteI would like to put Orsato in 1-4, then put Turpin replace Orsato in 5-7. I also adjust a bit between 12-18. My list would be:
Delete1-4 Kuipers, Brych, Lahoz, Orsato
5-7 Makkelie, Taylor, Turpin
8-11 Cakir, Vincic, Del Cerro, Hategan
12-14 Ekberg, Oliver, Dias
15-18 Kovacs, Karasev, Grinfeeld, Siebert
Hello, was my name Dimi or Dimitrios? Forgot my username in the predictions-game
ReplyDeleteDimitrios.
DeleteI submitted my predictions without ENG SCO, so if you could please add Kuipers for that match if possible
ReplyDeleteDone, no problem.

Let's be honest, Oliver ain't getting Italy
DeleteIndeed impossible that Oliver gets Italy :)
DeleteWhy impossible?
DeleteOh, i know why... :P
DeleteYou could be right, but IMO this shouldn't matter anymore after over 3 years. I can maybe understand, that he doesn't get Juve, but extending it to all Italian teams seems wrong. E.g., there is only one player from that game (Chiellini) still included.
DeleteFurthermore I think, ITA-SUI is one of the top games, and with nearly every experienced referee already used, alternatives are rare. And I don't like the idea of using a referee from the same country in two consecutive games of a team (Kuipers for ITA).
Here are my predictions for Matchday 2:
DeleteFIN-RUS: Orel GRINFELD (ISR)
TUR-WAL: Istvan KOVACS (ROU)
ITA-SUI: Artur SOARES DIAS (POR)

DEN-BEL: Björn KUIPERS (NED)
NED-AUT: Michael OLIVER (ENG)

So Oliver for Italy was at least worth 5 points ;)

I think, seeing predictions so far, for example FIN-RUS is underestimated by some. After the Finnish win and the Russian loss this will probably be an extremely crucial game with regard to a qualification spot for the round of 16.
ReplyDeleteBut couldn't that be said for nearly every match?
DeleteOh yes, it goes for more games, especially as MD1 results are known. But there are also quite a lot of matches in which one of the two sides is ‘quite certain’ for qualifying for round of 16. This is IMO an example of a direct clash between two ‘underdogs’ plying for 2nd/3rd spot.
DeleteApparently UEFA agreed with you. :)
