ReplyDeleteExpecting a much tougher clash!
The game is indeed very important after the unexpected win by Slovakia on MD1, and Sweden in good position after the draw against Spain.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely, I expect a quite tough match. Very good sign for Siebert, UEFA seems to trust him, it is not an unimportant game.
DeleteAgain, Siebert tries to talk with players very early.
ReplyDeleteSince he seems to be Germany's candidate for the next World Cup, UEFA will feel responsible to challenge him, to fill his refereeing CV. So a 1 game EURO never was an option from my perspective. On the contrary, I could imagine he gets a KO game as a surprise.
ReplyDeleteWhen is brych retiring from uefa competitions?
DeleteIt was reported after EURO, the same as Kuipers, but it seems that now for both something could change, according to last rumors...
DeleteChampions league nights won’t be the same without them 2 :(
DeleteBrych will continue. His goal is the final at the World cup 2022
DeleteNow YC for persistent infringment, Siebert explained that this was the reason. Too many fouls.
ReplyDeleteVery easy decision for Siebert to book #20 Olsson after his third offence,
ReplyDeleteClear YC for SWE20 excellent refereeing from Siebert. Warned him before now correctly issues YC for persistance
ReplyDeleteCorrect YC for #20-SWE. Siebert warned him twice before, now YC for SPA. Well "constructed" YC, accepted by everyone.
ReplyDeleteNot the expected intense game but Siebert does very well in my view. Like in SCO-CZE, he allows physical play only intervening for the clear fouls which totally fits considering the game itself and the overall approach at EURO. Good YC for #20-SWE that was understandable for everyone because of Siebert's earlier warnings. No difficult incidents to be evaluated. Good job so far.
ReplyDeleteMissed corner for sweden (Min. 47)
ReplyDeleteMost boring match of the tournament...
ReplyDeleteMissed corner for Sweden in 47' is the biggest mistake so far. I think this sentence is a sign of how interesting the match is...
ReplyDeleteInteresting situation in 62', attacker foul correctly perceived in the penalty area by Siebert but he waited in order to allow VAR to intervene if necessary. Two seconds after that, offside by Swedish attacker was signaled by AR2. Defender of SVK was protesting and Siebert explained that he saw the incident but had to wait. Siebert could have whistled immediately but at least it was good to communicate with the defender.
Definitely the most boring game of the tournament, I must agree!
ReplyDeleteHowever, Siebert did well what he had to do so far.
Penalty + YC given by Siebert! Correct decision.
ReplyDeleteIndeed, it is a boring game but it is difficult for a referee. You have to be concentrated, you cannot relax. Good that Siebert whistled the clear foul immediately. Maybe we will have a more interesting game now?
DeleteCorrect pk for sweden!!!
ReplyDeletePenalty and YC for DOGSO by Stieler: correct decision. Good ONSIDE by AR2 as well. Finally something interesting to assess him, he was ready to make this call. The player had slightly kicked the ball, but I think that without foul he would have reached it again (otherwise foul without card possible as well).
ReplyDeleteStieler is probably at home in Hamburg ;) I fully agree, except with the name.
DeleteStieler at euro confirmed! :)
DeleteYou're right Chefren, both are excellent referees, but here we have SIEBERT ;) (before Peter plays the know-it-all, I dared to correct you here).
DeleteGood YC, at first I thought no card is ok. But replay shows, it's DOGSO, empty goal.
*Siebert
DeleteSorry, I meant Siebert of course!
DeleteYC + indirect free-kick for dissent. Very good decision not to ignore it.
ReplyDeleteSiebert ready during the crucial moments of the game.
ReplyDeleteI think he showed his potential for upcoming tournaments. He did a very good job at EURO.
ReplyDeleteMissed YC in 90' for #10-SWE, Kabakov could have helped to detect the step on the opponent's heel.
ReplyDeleteOK to play on following a penalty appeal for handball, you can support this decision. More play on than penalty, a whistle shouldn't have caused VAR intervention, though. Opinions?
ReplyDeleteUnexpected ball from very close distance. Play on is my decision.
DeleteI believe with the new directives it's quite clear to play on.
DeleteWould also say VAR to call if whisteld.
Sweden - Slovakia
ReplyDeleteSiebert - Seidel, Foltyn (Fritz)
9' Good delay on the whistle and an advantage played
19' Missed foul in the middle of the pitch
23' Good YC for the SPA trip or for persistent infringment, I guess you can choose one or the other
Very quiet first half for Siebert, not much work to do for him. He correctly gave a YC after warning the player before and besides one missed foul in the middle of the pitch, no mistakes were made on his part.
47' Missed corner kick after a touch from the defender
56' A good advantage, altough a little late, seemed like a safe choice after not calling the faul
58' A very good offside call by Seidel
63' A difficult situation, however incorrect offside call by Foltyn. We can argue about it being a dangerous play (head pretty low), but a very good interaction with Škriniar - talking some sense into him, deescalating the situation.
76' Correct and a pretty straightforward PK decision together with a YC for Dúbravka, no argument from the players either
80' A correct YC for dissent, you don't have to be a lip-reader to comprehend what Duda said
83' A very close offside call, but let's give the benefit of the doubt to Foltyn
87' A good YC for an SPA trip
90+5' A good PK no-call, definitely no handball by today's standarts
A very good performance by Siebert and his team. Not a difficult match to handle, all the cards were pretty straightforward, but he did it magnificiently. With 1 good PK call and 1
good PK no-call on the top, we can forget about some smaller mistakes. He let the game flow, did not blow for small fouls and the players understood it, toughened up a little. We was fully in control of the match with respect from all sides (except for a one well-handled situation). I think UEFA will be very happy with him and even a KO stage match may come his way, which I would whole-heartedly agree with. Well done!
Good performances by both AR, missed one offside each in my opinion, but it was very close to tell, so fine by me. No work besides that.
Good call to not recommend an OFR by VAR at 90+5'
R - 8.5
AR1 - 8.3
AR2 - 8.3
VAR - 8.3
Well analysed, thank you for that.
DeleteIt was definitely not the most challenging game for Siebert but he was there when he was needed. He did not lose concentration, so he called the correct penalty for Sweden + YC immediately. Good no penalty decision for handball in 90+5'. I think Daniel Siebert can be very proud of what he has achieved. Nobody expected him to attend EURO but was able to deliver and received a second match (which is even more than what he could expect). If he got a third match, it would be a big surprise.
ReplyDeleteI was able to meet Daniel Siebert once, he is a very nice guy and I am really happy for him.
Did not watch the second half, but seems Siebert did a very good job. Hope to see him in the WC next year. I really look forward to it!!
ReplyDeleteImpressed by Siebert today. Happy for him
ReplyDeleteMr. Daniel Siebert - the best game manager and one of the best player manager at this EURO. I disagree it was an easy game for the referee who presented a superb stepped approach.
ReplyDeleteThe way he managed persistently infringing Olsson in 2', 9' and 23' was simply outstanding and should be shown at seminars for referees! Also the way he issued a warning in 63' after dissent - calm, firm and professional, reaching the target, wow!
Furthermore, after the above mentioned warning for dissent, he didn't ignore the next one in 80'. Perfect!
Of course, penalty is a good call but the DOGSO character of it was not so clear at real time. Thumbs up for detecting it!
The missed YC for stamp in 90+1', one-two missed fouls (happens to everyone) and sometimes too late whistles after quite clear offences are points for improvement. I had a gut feeling he relied (too?) much on his team members at times.
Well, after another very strong performance we can even expect Mr. Siebert getting R16 game. I am sure Daniel Siebert (along with Andreas Ekberg) were planned for only one group stage game but Roberto Rosetti rewarded Siebert with another clash. This can happen again after another very strong performance of the German!
I don't think he will get R16 game but he did really good job at EURO.
DeleteI concur that it will be difficult to see Siebert again, Brych should be first option and very likely we will not have so many referees from the same country in KO stage, but he can be extremely pleased with what he achieved in this tournament so far. Waiting for Brych's decision after EURO (to leave or not), he is now 100% sure of getting Elite status, with the chance to be even German nr. 1 for Qatar 2022.
ReplyDeleteSiebert is an Euro referee (category does not matter at this point) and should be treated like all other Euro referees.
DeleteImagine how many negative comments would be here if Zwayer would have handled the games instead of Siebert? :)
ReplyDeleteWell, Siebert is in the much better shape :D
DeleteConvincing performance by Siebert
